A suicide of commitments with a goodbye letter in your hand.  self preservation feels like warm hot chocolate and the aftertaste of envelope glue sealed with a sorry that never escaped your lips. just to hold on to yourself together.

The chancellor and I spoke once. And the one thing that stuck with me was ‘be the chancellor of your own space’. How are you going to lead? How are you going to be an example for those after you? What legacy do you wish to leave behind as your life is a short blip in the universe. Although our lives are not finite, what do you wish to leave in the world and how do you want it to shape you? I am very lucky that my chancellor is a person of color and someone who is very involved on campus. He has integrated himself into the body of the university versus being a faceless signature at the end of emails we receive from him very often. How do you want to influence and govern the space you belong to? How do you wish to excel in the things you are passionate about? Lastly, remember to view yourself as a chancellor. To walk proudly, with a straight spine and recognize the magnitude of your impact on your environment and the context you are situated in.
