Adam got home from practice and set his stuff down in the hallway. His band had wanted t go out to a bar afterwards but he had wanted to get home to Micah. Things had been difficult lately thanks to an old enemy showing up. Adam had never been more grateful to have a friend in the Dragon Council. They had done so much. His fiancé was safe now and the Council’s best therapist was looking after Micah’s mental health. Adam fervently hoped that everything was going to be quiet for a long time now.

He headed for the kitchen to start supper when his foot hit a small crumpled paper and sent it flying. He picked it up and smoothed it out. It was a chocolate bar wrapped. Adam sighed. Micah must have found the stash in the cupboard over the fridge. He threw the wrapper in the trash and went looking for Micah. “Mahob? Where are you?” Adam frowned when he didn’t get a response.

He noticed another wrapper, this time in the hallway leading to their bedroom. He followed what turned out to be an actual trail of wrappers leading to their bed. Micah lay there, curled up with a pillow, asleep. Candy wrappers were scattered on the bed and a half-eaten chocolate bar dangled from Micah’s fingers. Adam picked up all the wrappers and placed the chocolate bar on the bedside table. He leaned over Micah and shook him gently.

“Micah. Wake up Love.”

Micah snuffled in his sleep and snuggled further into the pillow. Adam’s heart melted from the sight and he sighed. Waking him now would just be cruel. Adam got ready for bed as quietly as he could and dimmed the lights. He carefully pulled the pillow from Micah’s grasp and slipped into bed. Micah immediately wrapped himself around Adam, nuzzling his nose in Adam’s neck. Adam lay there for a few minutes, holding Micah and gently playing with his hair. The days stresses slipped from his mind and he felt sleep tug at his consciousness. Before he drifted off, he heard Micah drowsily mumble.

“My stomach hurts.”
