Something I don't see people do much in fics is acknowledge the fact that Danny has probably actually been helping his parents in the lab since before the start of the series. I know that the Desiree episode made it seem like they just so happened to have made a suit in Danny's size and he wore it for the first time that day and it was his first time in the lab, but I actually think that that's incorrect. In fact, it's implied that Sam and Tucker weren't there for the initial incident, he was alone in the lab after his parents walked out in the intro, and he probably told them later about it or they saw him use his powers and were like "Dude. What?" and he told them what happened. Anyways, when Jack brought out a suit they planned for Jazz, it looked the same as his. She ended up wearing one of her mother's suits, in the end, because it didn't fit. But, Danny's suit doesn't look like either of their suits. It's white. Black and white, to be exact, and looks like an astronaut's colors. Why does it look like that? Well, obviously because Danny had some input on what his suit looked like and had been using it frequently enough that when his parents' invention didn't work, he just put it on and walked in to see if he could figure out the problem. Jack also talks about working in the lab being part of Danny's chores. Not Jazz, Jazz doesn't help in the lab, but Danny is just expected to. Or is he? Maybe he asked to help them in the lab in an effort to bond with them, and also got some tutoring when all the work was done for his science homework, since he was studying to go to NASA. The show makes it seem like they didn't know or care about his desire to be an astronaut, but he went to a space camp, you see the certificate for it on his wall and there's all sorts of space stuff in his room. So, yeah, I think that the reason Danny was down in the lab poking around that day was because he's always doing that. We see in the intro his parents walking away sadly and Danny is already putting on his suit, ready to help, probably just came down to work in the lab as usual. The suit is just his size, in colors HE chose, and he was trying to help them figure out the broken invention like he's always done and this time it nearly killed him. Anyways, I'm just making notes for the rewrite, maybe I'll do a little bit of before-the-incident scenes and have something like Jazz saying "One of these days, helping them out in that place is going to get you killed" or something like that.
