since mickey mouse is public domain,do you think that they will make zombie mouse offical debut?
I don't fully understand the laws surrounding public domain, but the stuff* made since the lapse of Steamboat Willie's copyright seem to avoid making direct references to Mickey, as that may be flying too close to the sun, so to speak; the sun in this case being the ever-litigious Disney. Basically, only Steamboat Willie's copyright expired--and even though SW features the character of Mickey Mouse, newer versions of Mickey may have an updated copyright (again, I'm not sure), so one slip-up that goes beyond the bounds of the Steamboat Mouse and you're fucked. This must be the reason all these Z-grade movies take great pains to refer to the Mouse as "Willie" at the very most.
I did watch the Winnie the Pooh slasher movie a couple years back, which was artless tripe; I'm assuming this adaptation is much the same, I never had the urge to watch it. I haven't seen any of the Popeye slashers either-- yes, there are multiple--but do I really need to?
All this to say I don't think Atlus would chance it by reintroducing Zombie Mouse. Simply not worth being wiped off the face of the earth because of a silly reference few remember!
...And Just look at how much more Mickey this original sprite is compared to Screamboat's Willie.
