#zombie laptop

For those of you who have been following me for awhile, you're familiar with the saga of my zombie laptop. It has been on its last legs for over a year now, and I've expected it to break and die any day. It gives me lots of issues, many of which are totally unhealthy and get stares from tech geeks, but I have learned to work with it.

Well, it's gotten another.

This time, however, it's not something I can fix on my own. Probably. The charger port is loose, and needs either replacing or re-soldering. I have a friend coming over who works with computers and is going to bring his tools. We will be taking the computer apart and attempting to fix it. Until then, however, it is becoming increasingly difficult for me to phenagle the cord into a position in which it will actually work.

Once it stops working, I will be without laptop. The friend is coming down Monday of next week, and we will work with it then. However, if anything at all goes wrong or we're unable to fix it, I will be "permanently" without laptop. It will be /at least/ until February before I can get a new one, and I may not be able to at all.

We do have a family computer, but my younger brother spends exactly as much time on it as I do on my laptop (meaning he's on there every moment of every day unless he's eating or asleep). So, it would be extremely difficult for me to get any or very much time on it during the day. I would be able to get on at night after the rest of my family goes to sleep, but it would only be for 3-5 hours and after 10pm-12am CST.

So inconvenient as hell.
