When I was a child, my father was seldom around because my mom was relatively shitty to him. He brought me a VHS tape one evening and told me he thought I’d enjoy it. It was fantastic. The dancing, the music, the movie effects, all intertwined. I became obsessed and begged my mother to watch it almost daily if provided the option. It gave me a drive to one day make movies and create music that affected people as Michael Jackson’s Thriller affected me. This video, which showed the behind the scenes stuff as well, also extended a connection to my periodically absent father. I got a tattoo to keep myself motivated to eventually make movies and keep playing in bands. Also, Mj is Just a badass that could never be duplicated.
