Obviously theirs was a long distance relationship. They tried to make it work, but with skekSa being away at sea for long periods of time made it harder for them to stay together. That being said, even after breaking it off, they were still close. 

The two spent as much time together as possible while skekSa’s on land. If it meant they had to spend time fulfilling their errands to the Emperor, so be it. SkekSa never minded tending to skekZok’s routines and rituals.

SkekZok made sure that he solidified their relationship with a ritual, but also unfortunately had to make a ritual for their break up too. 

Both are quite the romantic types. Whenever skekSa returned from the sea, skekZok prepared a private room for them with lighted candles, incense, and petals scattered all over the floor. It woos her every time. SkekSa, in turn, would sometimes invite skekZok to her chambers with equally romantic décor.

The Mariner always brought the finest treasures and what-have-you saved for the Ritual Master. His favorites were the beautifully crafted knives he’d use in his rituals. 

SkekSa learned how to brew wine and other alcohol beverages just so she could share them with skekZok when she got back.

The Mariner has absolutely (or at least attempted) to carry skekZok bridal style, especially while she’s intoxicated.
