3 Ways Responses To Shifting Customer Expectations
It’s not hard to get your head around the fact that your customers expectations are changing. Instant gratification is leaping to the fore front of the customer experience. From the ways that customers are discovering your product to the receipt of the customer’s experience, all interactions are taking place in the now. 1. Discovery Potential customers have been bombarded with advertisements for too long and marketers are looking at how they work and play to provide the right messages when they are looking (and literally searching) for them. Social media plays into the new discovery model with the ability for content to go viral and easily creating the word of mouth chain. The content isn’t social itself, but the sharing of great content is socially dynamic. The broken model showed a potential customer a product or service and backed up their credibility with content and data to seal the deal. The modern model provides the potential customer with a wealth of knowledge to establish credibility and provides opportunity of service when the timing is right. Providing tips on killer LinkedIn strategies and company culture has set the social company apart from others. 2. Interaction Calls, Emails, Instant Messages, Tweets, Likes, +1s, Views, and Pins There are so many interaction points along your customer’s journey that can either enhance or derail their experience. [click to tweet] Slow reaction times and mishandled calls can leave your customer looking for a better experience. Most of your customers have a small problem or question that they need handled now to finish or jump start their journey with your product. Olark is putting communication at the finger tips of your customers. Their awesome tool puts chat right on your site so that your customers and inquirers can ask questions as they arise. 3. Delivery At the heart instant gratification is delivery. Nothing slows down and possibly hinders your customers experience more than waiting. First there was horse speed delivery, then faster delivery by train and air, but there is still an airs of disappointment with your customer as they wait for their package. Same day and overnight delivery are severely reducing the wait time and increasing customer satisfaction. Same day delivery can’t be left as an option any longer. It is becoming a competitive advantage. Delivery is the last impression you can have with your customer before they actually interact with your product. Hiring the professional couriers in local communities allows you to extend and enhance your product’s image all the way up until your customer receives it. Your customer is expecting you to be faster. Are you keeping up?
Zipments
Zipments.
Same-day delivery looks like a battlefield. Different forces fighting to get it right, on time, and take on most of this $20 billion market in the US.
Zipments is one one those players. Rather than taking over the delivery process from A to Z, it's a platform where independent delivery guys and companies can register and get connected to clients. Contrary to other delivery systems like TaskRabbit or Postmates (covered here), Zipmates does not have its own fleet of couriers. Instead, it charges a fee for using its platform, starting at $10 per delivery. The logistics management software used by couriers is vastly outdated, and that's why Zipments is so attractive. Through the Zipments app, customers get real time information on where there delivery is at, and couriers can manage their logistics and accept jobs from clients. Each of those players are heavily funded (2.25m for Zipments, 5m for Postmates) which shows that there's definitely a revolution going on and money to be made. But who's going to make it right?

Postmates
Postmates.
Urban-delivery startup. Food, groceries, or any kind of products from local shops can be at your doorstep in less than an hour -- that's Postmates pledge.
In fact, the current average delivery time is around 35 minutes, but co-founder Bastian Lehmann says he aims at reducing it to 25 minutes thanks to improved logistics.
The market is starting to get packed for delivery startups, as TaskRabbit, Zipments or Deliv are crowding up the space.
For now, Postmates is only available in San Francisco, Seattle and New York City.
My Locations & Search
My Locations
The "My Locations" feature, which we introduced in the Zipments mobile app, is now available on the website as well. This feature makes it easy to save and re-use location details when requesting deliveries.
This feature replaces the previous "Templates" feature that was available on the website. If you were a Templates user, you'll notice that we've already converted any locations within your Templates into saved Locations for you to make the transition easy.
Search
A search bar has been added to your Deliveries page. We've had requests to search by reference number, job code, street address, contact name -- whatever your criteria, just enter it into the search bar and we'll find it.
The basic gist is "Make money taking things across town." Seriously. It's that simple.
As you may know, I've been living that freelancing lifestyle since January. It is BOMB! What that means, however, is that I generally have a lot of downtime...might as well use that to make money. And that's just what happens on Zipments.com. People with extra time register on the site as couriers and place bids on the jobs they can do.
When the super cool peeps at Zipments approached me to do their Chicago community management and help them launch locally, it was a no-brainer. The company is made for people like me! Sometimes I've got an hour and I'd really like to make some beer money! Sometimes I'm traveling to a certain neighborhood anyways, I might as well make a quick buck! The best part is that you get paid within 24 hours of completing the job.
Requirements: 1. SMS/text enabled phone 2. Verified PayPal account 3. A way of getting around town (car, bike, on foot, subway) The process is simple: 1: Go to www.zipments.com 2: Register as a courier 3: Fill out a short profile for job posters to see
There are jobs already being posted in Chicago...so, sign up!
