Zhyzhak Appreciation
Zhyzhak is one of my absolute favourite characters in WtA. She is also one of its most iconic characters but there seems to be very little about her on wta tumblr. Time to change that. Hail to our glorious wyrmish murderqueen. First of all I respect the sheer gall the authors had with her. Because Zhyzhak started as an absolute joke. As this constantly screaming werewolf in laughable dominatrix gear. This is how she was portrayed in Caerns Places of Power. And then the authors decided "Hey lets make this joke character our most dangerous villain."
And it worked. Slowly but surely. She got new stats. Horrificly absurd but imho still too low stats (honestly she is Green Dragons Daughter. Imho she can have more than 40 health levels. And that is the start for me). And she got new art that portrayed her as more of a threat but still the past haunted some of her depictions. By W20 this was over and this is imho Zhyzhak at her absolute best. I also love her because of what she is and isnt. She is the absolute most dangerous Black Spiral Dancer. She will destroy your caern. Kill your elder, kill your younglings, kill your heroes and no one can stop her. Thats it. And she works perfectly as this monster level threat. She is however not a very complex character. You can certainly say she is a flat character. She is has some interesting points (especially her refusal to have children), but there isnt really more. She isnt tragic (more than a bsd in some way all are). She isnt misunderstood or anything. Her methods are apparent from the very beginning. Destroying everything in her path and generally being Beast-of-War incarnate. And it works perfectly with her. I would not want her any other way. So thank you Zhyzhak. For being the Monster we all need and I hope she stays herself forever. She certainly had more luck than Albrecht with W5. PS: If any of you play W5 please dont redeem her. Even though Griffin or Fenris could maybe take a redeemed Zhyzhak just dont do it. if she has to go let our murdermonster end like she lived. In Blood and Slaughter.
