Review of Ramit Sethi’s Zero to Launch course
Zero to Launch is an online course that teaches students how to start an online business. I recently finished taking the course, and decided to write a review to share my experience.
In January 2016, I stumbled upon a video on YouTube that advertised the Zero to Launch course, taught by New York Times bestselling author, Ramit Sethi. At first, I was interested in taking the course, but wasn’t sure if it was right for me. I’ve always dreamed of starting my business, but didn’t have the knowledge or skills to do so. As I spent more time working as a corporate employee, I became convinced that the 9-to-5 life was not for me. I wanted more control over my life, and wanted to live each day with more meaning and passion. At the time, I had a terrible boss, and worked in an office filled with nasty politics. I was desperate. I wanted a better life.
After agonizing for days, I took a gamble and decided to enroll in the course. In the days leading up to the first day of class, I often wondered if I made the right choice. I was worried.
When the course finally opened, I devoured the material and studied it every night. At the end of the first week, I was relieved that the content met my expectations. I was learning something new every day about starting my business, and was making incremental progress. It felt great.
When I enrolled, I didn’t have any idea what type of business I would start. The instructor helped us find a profitable business idea during the first week. In the beginning, the written exercises were designed to help students find a profitable idea.
During the 8-week course, I gained confidence that I could start my business with the knowledge that I acquired. I worked on my business every night throughout the course. And if I had questions or needed help, we had a private Facebook community that enabled all the students to communicate with each other. Of course, the instructor would participate too.
As for the format of the course, all the lectures were provided to us through pre-recorded videos, which were available on-demand. If you preferred to listen to them during your commute, the instructor also provided them in audio format. We were even given the transcription to all of the videos.
The course was divided into 4 core modules, and 4 tactical vaults. The core modules covered strategies to generate a business idea, find your customers, build your product or service, and sell it. Each module was accompanied by worksheets, which we were required to complete as part of our assignments.
The tactical vaults expanded on the information provided to us in the core modules. They were supplemental materials, such as case studies and interviews with graduates of the program. There were tons of useful information in these vaults.
In summary, I’m really glad that I took the course. I have lifetime access to the course material, and met like-minded classmates with similar ambitions. I also got a chance to interact with successful graduates from the previous sessions, who are making a full-time living as entrepreneurs.
