Hey CP! Two parter. A: what happened to the podcast?! I loved that thing! Probably too busy with the ninja game I bet. B: Looking to start a podcast of my own, tips on hosting, recording etc? The idea is to review and play old/indie rpgs to give them some coverage and critique.
Zero Preparation is on a mini-hiatus for a bunch of reasons. I won’t say it’s dead, but it probably isn’t coming back soon.
From all of the times I’ve tried (and failed) to run podcasts, the best advice I can give you is that nothing is more important than having your stuff on iTunes from day one.
I used a 3rd Party site called Libsyn that sets up your podcast entirely and puts it on iTunes for you rather than having to navigate the distribution yourself. It’s unbelievably cheap, and I had a great time with it.
As far as recording, get yourself set up with a computer and a regular mic, potentially a mic stand. Use some audio recording software (Audacity, Garage Band) to record, and take the time to edit however you’d like. Then, let it fly.
If it’s in the cards, invest more time/money in better equipment. Check out that you like to record/make shows before really diving in headfirst.
