ZECHARIAH S.O.A.P. ~ CHAPTER 11
Wednesday, 8/12/26
SCRIPTURE:
I told them, “Pay me my wages, if you think you should; otherwise, forget it.” So they handed me my wages, a measly 30 pieces of silver. Then the Lord said, “Throw the money into the treasury.” So I threw the money into the treasury at the Lord's temple. ~ Zechariah 11:12-13
OBSERVATION:
A tough chapter...
These two verses took me immediately to Judas's betrayal...
...the thirty pieces of silver...
...his realization that he couldn't "force" Jesus to do what he wanted (overthrow Roman rule and be an earthly king)...
...his throwing the silver away...
Plus there's "...pay me my wages..."
...which brings to mind the verse from Romans...
"...the wages of sin is death..."
...not to forget the last half of that verse:
"...but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Emphasis mine -
Fortunately, the Father has decided not to pay me what I'm due...
...but to "forget it..."
...and gift me eternal life instead of "...thirty measly pieces of silver..."
APPLICATION:
Accept His Gift...
PRAYER:
Forgiving Father God - I know I am due so much worse than the measly minor problems and pains that my sinfulness brings, and ask Your forgiveness for the constant willfulness that distracts and leads to disobedience - I am grateful that You have given me the gift of life through Jesus - May I remember the valuelessness of silver in comparison to eternity in Your presence - I Jesus's Name, Lord God, and for Your praise and worship and everlasting glory...
Gifted by Him...
