The Mawkin Chozo thought they were such hot shit, and yet this Proud Warrior Society couldn’t even come up with a real name for their home planet SMH

I think that midway through Ghavoran was a great time to have the X parasites released, it really made me feel the impact they had on the planet.
If it had happened in the first three areas, you'd only see the death of a handful of creatures living in an industrial area, which isn't really that serious, or unusual. Rodents that make their way into factories and similar places are killed all the time. But a forest? That's supposed to be sprawling with animals, and them being wiped out by a horde of parasites feels horrifying. It really conveys the idea of an entire planet facing a mass extinction event.
And sure, this could've happened before or after Ghavoran, and the forest overrun with X parasites would still be there, but you wouldn't go back to it that often if it happened after, and you'd never see it filled with life if it happened before. The way it plays out, you're forced to experience a thriving ecosystem, and are then forced to experience the aftermath of it's destruction.
It was destroyed for such a mundane reason too. You were just... exploring, and looking for upgrades. That's just what you do in a Metroid game, and in doing so, you destroyed an entire planet. Just for a Plasma Beam.
If Ghavoran is an underground forest, then why is there sunlight??? Is this like Bionicle where it’s actually an enormous spotlight or something? Or is Raven Beak just lying to you as Adam, so you don’t take an alternate route to your ship across ZDR’s surface? Maybe Ghavoran is inside a giant terrarium on the surface, where light comes through, but the transparent material of the greenhouse (possibly Zebetite) can’t be pierced by Samus?
...Y’know what, lemme add a fun, completely baseless headcanon, and suggest; Before ZDR developed life, an asteroid of a clear, crystalline, and indestructible substance crashed into the planet. It lodged itself into the planet’s surface, one end exposed there, the other piercing the cavern of Ghavoran. Light was refracted through the crystalline asteroid, allowing for the development of plant life in the cavern beneath the crystal, leading to the jungle of Ghavoran billions of years later.
The refraction caused the light to ‘concentrate’, creating a surplus of heat and solar energy that fed the growth of entire forests and an ecosystem, compared to the more desolate caverns of ZDR, such as Artaria- Whose ecosystem is technically unnatural, having been artificially warmed by the mechanisms in Cataris.
This is why Samus can’t just take an alternate route across the surface- Because Ghavoran isn’t on the surface, but directly beneath a colossal asteroid that allows only sunlight to pass through! Of course, this does raise the question of why Samus doesn’t just use the Gravity Suit and Space Jump to travel across Burenia’s ocean until she reaches her ship, so maybe Ghavoran IS mostly underground, but with a giant hole letting in sunlight. If Samus can technically access the surface in one area (as well as Hanubia) but simply doesn’t use this for gameplay and plot reasons, then the same logic can apply to Ghavoran.
