Super Megaforce would've been elevated if the Armada took over Earth.
To start with, Harwood County High School was pushed out of the picture more and more in Season 1 alone. Especially with how episodes like Gosei Ultimate and The Messenger was Sentai Footage edited together with a basic amount of original footage.
So why not discard it in favor of the Super Mega Rangers taking to the skies when the Armada comes a knocking? This would justify the Rangers "not having personal lives" like Tzachor seemed to want with Samurai (a bullcrud mindset to writing) with the plot being that the Armada has gotten a foothold in the Ranger's hometown.
It would give them a goal to work towards in saving their friends and family from tyranny. All the while, they sail across Earth's skies to answer distress calls from resistance fighters and, perhaps, past Rangers who are trying to help. It would also work as an adaptation of the Gokaigers coming from invaded worlds and hoping to reclaim what they lost.
In fact, revisiting Endgame, I find that the battles on the coast could've been the attempts by Vrak to overrun the Command Center with Metal Alice sneaking into Gosei's lair while he and the Messanger distract the Rangers. Thus leaving the Rangers largely without a mentor if they're cut off.
Really, the Armada successfully invading Earth rather than being fended off would elevate Super Megaforce alone. Instead of sending generals to destroy Earth, they've already conquered Earth and the Rangers are facing the generals in the towns they are occupying.
The Gokaigers were only pirates in the sense of living for themselves and rebelling against the already dagnasty evil of the Zangyack who nobody would sympathize with. They were heroes albeit still learning how to Super Sentai.
The Megaforce Rangers, IMO, should've adopted that aspect at least. Like the Armada occupying Earth brands them as pirates as part of propaganda but the team always stops to help their fellow man.
