the song (listen to when prompted by ânowâ)
Itâs hot in the pit during this set, and youâre having a hard time trying to convince yourself this is fun. Itâs sweaty, the music is choppy and loud, and the $6 bottle of water you bought is empty now.
Youâre eyes are trained on a woman dressed in barely a bikini dance and shuffle around to the music nearby you when your attention is taken away by Yutaâs hand leaving your exposed waist.
You turn around and youâre not so surprised to see him dap up a shirtless guy wearing rainbow aviators and what looks like a billion beaded bracelets on his wrist. Yutaâs friends with everyone, heâs well known in the scene and generally in the community. Even you knew his name long before you met him at a concert much more mellow than this music festivals a year ago. No sooner that the man comes by you, he leaves.
âWho was that?â You stand on your tippy toes to speak into Yutaâs ear. Youâre practically yelling, the music is loud. It comes with the territory, of course.
âHeâs a friend of mine. Heâs at every rave.â He yells back into your ear. You lean back to give your boyfriend a frown before leaning back into his ear.
âWhy did he leave so fast then if heâs your friend?â
Yutaâs face turns into a sly smirk as he opens his palm and notches his head down to move your attention to show you what was inside.
Now, youâve been with your boyfriend for a couple months now, and heâs told you everything about his habits and activities every time he goes to a rave. This just happens to be the first time he convinced you to come with him. You knew about the drugs and the partying, but it didnât necessarily hit you until right now as you stared at the little pink pills in a baggie in his hand.
âNow we wait.â He speaks again into your ear, pressing a kiss to your cheek and leaning back to give you his signature smirk.
You donât know what possessed you in that moment to say what you said next. Maybe it was the boredom, maybe it was the fact that youâve always been curious but never had the opportunity to try such a thing, or maybe you just simply wanted to join your boyfriend in on the fun.
âCan I have one?â And he gives you an absolutely shocked look before smiling a bit.
âYou sure?â But heâs already opening the baggy again, placing one in your hand. You nod and before you have the time to think too hard about it, youâre placing the pink tablet on your tongue.
It takes a while for things to kick in, youâre half convinced Yuta had bought sugar pills until it hit you. Hard.
Night has fallen over the fair grounds, but itâs just as bright as morning with all of the colorful accessories people are wearing and the lights from the stage in front of you. Things are brighter, prettier even, and youâre having a difficult time remembering why you were so upset to be here in the first place.
Yutaâs hands on your waist feel electric as you dance to the beat, slightly grinding on him. You hear him giggle and itâs the greatest sound youâve ever heard.
He leans down to whisper in your ears and it sends another shock of electricity and warmth through you, a flush rising on your cheeks.
âFeeling good?â That makes you giggle, turning and kissing him on the cheek. You really like him. Like really, really, really like him. He smiles at you and you stare into his wide eyes, the color barely visible with his pupils so blown out.
now
You didnât even realize the artist had changed until the crowd started to cheer. In pure adrenaline you joined in, jumping up and down forcing Yuta to jump with you. The song starts with a fast and easy beat, the blue lights entrancing you as Yuta grabs you by your hips and pulls your ass up against his front, squeezing tighter. You begin to move your hips slightly and close your eyes, enjoying the new beat.
As the trumpet begins to play the crowd is blanketed in pink and you canât seem to tear your eyes away from the beautiful lights as the beat picks up and Yuta holds you somehow closer. You feel warm, far too warm for the environment but you canât seem to care.
Soon but not soon enough your racing heartbeat urges you to make a move on the man with the firey hands behind you. You slip, turning around to face him. Heâs smirking down at you once you finally make eye contact. Your eyes roll back into your head as you close them to lean in, your lips making contact with his right as the bass drops. Itâs a slightly sexy song, the beat thrumming up through your feet and into your heart. You feel euphoric, absolutely in love with the moment and with the man in front of you. You donât even know how you went so long in your life without him.
Yutaâs hands pull you closer as you move your own arms up to rest on his shoulders. With your eyes closed, the brightest colors dance on the inside of your eyelids and his kisses feel like fireworks. Heâs so warm and his kiss is so soft, sensual, and perfect. You canât explain it, but itâs nothing like youâve ever felt before and you want to rest here forever with your lips against his.
As you move your lips against his, you open up to allow his tongue to slip in. He tastes bitter, just like your own mouth does. You figure thatâs due to your little pink friend you both indulged in. His hands leave a warm trail as they move down to your ass, grabbing a tight handful. You moan into his mouth and you can feel him smirk against you. You want him. More than youâve ever wanted him, you think. Your entire body feels like itâs on fire. You feel both lazy and like you have the entire world at your disposal. You want to run a mile, or spend that same energy fucking Yuta into the first surface you can find to push him up against. Either or, youâd be happy either way.
He leans back when he feels your arms tighten around his neck a little more, he can read you like a book. He knows you want him but for now, you canât have him. Not when thereâs so many things heâs yet to show you while youâre in this state. You want to frown at the loss of contact but you canât find it in you to be disappointed at much of anything, youâre just so happy.
He leans back and gives you a kiss on your forehead. You look absolutely gone. Your pupils are wide and your smile is permanent. He gives you another kiss and that leaves you to giggle as the song ends.
Even though you know this wonât last forever, you can feel it in your bones that everything will be alright as long as you have Yuta to kiss you again.
note: Iâve never done molly or gone to a rave (I donât like edm and I had one bad shrooms experience I will never explain in detail) so donât get mad at me for realism ok! love and light besties

â[Y/N?]â The fortune-teller called from further within the shop, appearing around a corner. âHello,â they said. âYou may call me Aoi. This way, please.â
You followed them down a short hallway to a sitting room. There were beautiful, lush plants everywhere, and they gestured you to a few comfortable-looking armchairs arranged on one side of a small table, sweeping around the other side to sit in the chair opposite.
You picked the one in the middle, scooting it forward as best you could as they got settled. âNow,â they said. âWhat can I do for you today?â
âIâve been having strange dreams,â you explained, feeling somewhat silly. âMy mother is worried about me, so she told me to come⊠seek spiritual advice. She just wants to see how my future looks, I think.â
âCertainly. May I have your hand?â Aoi reached out with both of theirs; you extended your dominant hand, and they enveloped it in their own. Their touch was cool, their skin soft. âAh,â they said after a moment. âYou seem to be a very righteous personâworried about fairness, easily affected by injusticesâwhich, given your line of work, unfortunately have not been scarce.â You were a little startled; it was true that you valued fairness and constantly worried over doing what was right. You liked to think it was how you kept yourself honest when you were surrounded by money-hungry crooks. Aoi blinked at you. âYou work in a⊠fast-paced, male-dominated field, do you not?â
You smiled tentatively. âYes,â you admitted. âUh, Iâm in finance.â
They nodded. âYou should unlearn this. No one in your field values righteousness and virtue.â Thatâs true, you thought to yourself. Almost everyone in finance is corrupt as hell. âIt will not serve you in your romantic life, either,â Aoi continued.Â
âHow?â you asked, curious in spite of yourself.
âIt may blind you,â they said simply. âYes, your romantic life⊠will be passionate, but tumultuous.â A tremor ran through your body. You were sure Aoi felt it, but they did not comment. âThis new love youâve foundâhe will be the last love you will ever know.â
âIâm sorry?â you asked. To be fair, you had thought it beforeâthat Yuta checked all your boxesâbut you hadnât wanted to get ahead of yourself. Theyâre just saying it, you thought to yourself. It doesnât necessarily mean anything.Â
Aoi hummed to themself softly, then gasped and nearly dropped your hand. âIâm sorry,â they said quickly. âYour future is very⊠cloudy. I canât see very farâonly a few years ahead, and then⊠Nothing.â
It did make you tense up a little, though you tried to stay calm. âAh,â you said with a nervous laugh. âDoes that mean Iâm going to die soon?â
Aoi narrowed their eyes, shaking their head slowly. âMaybe,â they said, which was not reassuring in the slightest. âMaybe not. Sometimes, it simply means there are so many moving pieces now that itâs difficult to tell.â
âDoes it happen oftenâthat you cannot see far into someoneâs future?â You fought to keep derision and skepticism out of your tone.
Aoi must have detected it, anyway. Their eyes flashed. âNo,â they said, somewhat sharply. âIt is not common. I do not say this to scare you, or to try to scam you into coming back frequently for more readings or advice. I am simply telling you what I see.â
âRight,â you replied, feeling chastised somehow. âSo⊠okay, then when will I know? Like, where does it cut offâif I do come back, when should I?â
Aoi was silent for a minute. âYou will experience great turmoil within the next year. It will last for many months. You will be faced with a difficult decision.â Their voice had gained some odd quality to it that made you listen more intently. âYou cannot play both sides. Make your choice quickly, and move on, one way or another. When the past no longer haunts you, when it walks free, your path will be set.â
They released your hand. âIâthatâs it?â you asked.Â
âThatâs all I can see,â Aoi replied.
Feeling shaken, you got to your feet. âUmâis there some kind of⊠protective, like, talisman or something that could help me?â You felt strange asking for it, but despite your own skepticism, you couldnât help but worry about what was to come if Aoi was right.
But Aoi shook their head. âThere is nothing I can sell you that can protect you from your future,â they said. âYou are smart, strong of heart and of will. Those traits will be your best defense.â
âRight,â you said again, not sure how else to reply. They led you to the door. âUm, thank you.â You smiled politely at them as you reached for the handle.
âYouâre welcome.â They did not return your smile; instead, they watched you with an intense sort of curiosity. It wasnât until you got home that you realized they also looked a little sad.
You hear the blurry voice of people around you. You slowly come out of consciousness and feel the dampness of a facecloth on your head.
âMom?â
You asks as you slowly open your eyes.
âYes,dear?â
âWhat happened?â
Groaning in pain as you sit up from your bed.
âOh you fainted out of shock your fine.â
She replies as she goes to help someone. You take a double look and everything comes back to you.
âWAIT, YOUâRE A WEREWOLF!â
You yell at the boy who was helping your mother in the kitchen.
âYes.â
He sends you a smile as he turns his back to you.
âMom, are you not scared?â
âNo heâs a sweet boy and having him here is nice.â
She replies as they continue to bake, sugar cookies or something.
You get over the initial shock and go onto the kitchen to actually get to know the wolf in your kitchen.
âSo, I didnât quite catch you name.â
You ask as you come up to the boy.
âShotaro.â
Sticking his hand out, you return it.
âWell nice to officially meet you.â
âYeah, thank you for helping me out of the trap.â
âYeah, no problem it was my trap after all.â
You grimace at that but shotaro just shrugs it off.
âIf you donât mind but I couldnât help but wonder who was after you that night.â
âNo not at all, thatâs just my rival pack.â
Telling you calmly as he finishes cleaning up the mess on the counters while you help him clean.
âOh, just you?â
âNo, I have a pack.â
âThen why are you still here, would they be worried about you?â
You ask with nothing but concern.
âI donât think I should go back right now.â
Sitting down in frustration he looks at his feet. He really did look like a sad puppy dog.
âOh, I am sure you can go back arenât packs supposed to be like family.â
You council him on the couch.
âYeah, but they whole reason that pack wants to get rid of me is-, is-.â
âItâs okay Shotaro, you can trust me you tell the boy with complete honesty.
âMy mate, sheâs in the pack, but sheâs in a arranged marriage with someone else for the strength of their pack.
âOh, at least you know she wonât be hurt.â
You tell him your heart going out to him loading all of this on you somebody he just met a day ago but he trusted you with this you were going to be with him to help him.
âYou know what, weâre going to save your mate.â
You declare jumping up with determination. Nothing really scared you, you always took care of your problems well. Werewolfâs were a daunting thought but you only live once.
âY/n I donât think I can do it.â
âNo, thoughts like that make you fail.â
âYou and your mate are destined to be together, a stupid little marriage isnât going to get in the way of that.â
âY/n, are you being serious?â
âDead.â
Shotaro jumped with a smile just like you.
âWeâre going to do it.â
You say with no doubt in your mind.
As the week went on you and Shotaro started to get close and preparing for your so called mission.
âAll we want is to get in and get out.â
âYes, these wolves are deadly and wonât hesitate to kill.â
âShotaro, are you sure that you canât ask for any help of your pack?â
You ask as you guys sit down for dinner the last day before you would be taking off.
âNo, I have to do this without them.â
Shotaro proudly explains to you.
âYou two better not get killed, I like you two very much you know.â
Your mom winks at the both of you in a playful way.
With that you finish dinner and head to sleep for the night. As you lay awake in your bed, the moon shining into your small room. The stars were out, they were beautiful.
Focusing on the log roof above you canât help but think that something else had to happen for Shotaro to not want to ask for his packs assistants. It concerned you, you hadnât known him for long but at this point you thought of him as a brother. You thought it was super cute when he was in his wolf from and how he would always play with Jasper and how he helped you with hunting, made things way faster. You hoped that everything in the end would turn out good and Shotaro could find his mate. Slowly drifting into sleep fast without realizing it.
Tweet,tweet
Your waken up by the birds chirping and the sun breaking through your window curtains.
You struggle out of bed like you do everytime.
About after 20 minutes of fighting the comfy bed you trudge downstairs of course Shotaroâs all ready and still eating, a lot, he was a werewolf after all.
âY/n, are you ready?â
He also excitedly ready to see his mate safe and sound.
âYep.â
Popping the p you respond to the boy.
After your mom made sure you were absolutely ready and you said your goodbyes the two of you headed out.
It was a day long journey to the packs house, Shotaro lead you while you were up on Jasper. The plan was to just wait until nightfall, sneak in to the packhouse and grab his mate. Simple.
The sun was setting as you and Shotaro set up camp down wind so you guys wouldnât be found out. Waiting until nightfall you make finally make your way into the packs land. The house itâs self was huge, how you were going to find his mate was a troubling thought.
âShotaro can you hear her?â
Asking about the whole mate connection that you didnât really understand but thought it was cool.
âI am getting something, give me a sec.â
âWell we donât have a many secs to spare. The two of you were sneaking into the back of the house. âSheâs downstairs they kept her down there
âOk letâs go.â
After successfully getting in you continue to venture into the house. Your heart was beating, you knew something was going to happen. Suddenly it just occurred to you, youâre human, what the fuck can I do?â
asking your self in your head your mind becomes filled with dread You had been so hyped to help Shotaro that you failed to think, why did your mother always go along with your crazy ideas.
âShotaro, I canât do this.â
You whisper behind you as your panic rises.
âWhat do you mean, y/n your the strongest person I have actually ever met thatâs not a lie.â
âOk,ok I can do this.â
âYes we can do this.â
After the little pit stop you guys continue walking down a scary looking hallway.
âI can sense her, sheâs here.â
âNice.â
Sarcastically commented on the situation.
Shotaro brushes past you wanting to see his mate, you run after him not wanting to be left alone. When you get to the room it shocks you. A single cell. A young girl who was obviously Shotaroâs mate was tied to a chair in the centre and looked like she had been tortured for a week. That was strange to you considering that she was supposed to be set up for marriage, why would they hurt her like that. She didnât look good.she was looking down, looking completely exhausted. The place was damp and gross. Shotaro ran to her and she looked at him with so much happiness her eyes lifted up and shined with love towards him. It was incredibly cute. Shotaro took her in his arms and lifted her up effortlessly.
âOk letâs move.â
You tell Shotaro as he was still looking at his mate with love.
With that the three of you moved out again but you couldnât be as smooth as before considering. You made it of the house but you had failed to notice that there was a hunting party coming back. They hadnât failed to notice you though. You turned your head as you heard howling.
âSHIT.â
You yell out as three large black wolves start to give chase.
You knew you had to think fast Shotaro couldnât take all three, you had to do something.
âShotaro run back to camp and drop her off and came back to help me here.â
You tell him.
âYou canât take them all.â
âI can hold them for awhile until you help.â
âI-â
âDo it, I donât call myself a hunter for nothing.â
You wink as you push him away.
You grab your bow and start to shoot. You didnât know what you were going to do once they got close. You hit one in the eye taking him out for a minute, the two were getting closer and closer. About two strides away from you know.
Taeyong and Yuta were doing a life night patrol but they had both had been on edge for the entire time they both couldnât put their fingers on it. Suddenly they picked the scent of Shotaro.
The two start to run to the scent wanting to make sure that he was ok, he had been missing for a week and he cut his mind link from the pack for reasons they both didnât know. They finally see that Shotaro with a girl around a campsite. Shotaro quickly noticed them and looks away. The two of them come up to see whatâs wrong.
Yuta suddenly left and booked it, he smelled something so heavenly it called him and moved him like a magnet. Yuta smelled the strong scent of cherries and dark chocolate it was odd. Yuta was like a flash of light in the forest. He knew what it was, it was his mate.
In the moment app you could see the eyes as the animal was about to pounce on you you closed your eyes.
But the attack never came you opened your eyes and saw a beautiful white wolf fighting the wolves with everything he had. Shotaro and another black wolf came soon too.
After that the group of you guys got the heck out of dodge. You and Jasper were surrounded by the three wolves. You held hope on your arms, considering she was unconscious at this point she couldnât come with Shotaro. You hadnât spoken to any of them because they hadnât shifted yet. The white wolf tended to get closer to you, and he constantly looked at you it concerned you. He was so pretty, you couldnât help be drawn to him. His hair literally looked like it was glowing, he didnât look like how the typical werewolfâs had been portrayed in the old books. Then again none of the werewolfâs you had met recently filled that role.
The remark only received a giggle from the other party. âIâm not promising anything, Yuta. It will take time.â
Yuta took a final glance. Thereâs a hint of despair in the way he looked at her. âYou packed everything?â
She nods. âI think so. Let me know if I left something. Well, that if you donât mind. Else, you can throw them away.â
âAlright, Iâll let you know.â He smirked. Thereâs a pregnant pause before he continues. âIâll see you when I see you, [Y/N]. Until then, please be well.â
Yuta could see she welled up, holding up her tears. He wished he could hug her and tell her that it will be fine, but that only contradicted the brave front he showed to her.
She finally waves her final goodbye, closing the door. It is a signal for Yuta to finally embrace his sadness. Legs gave in, he immediately crouched down, sighing.
âDamn, who wouldâve thought I could fall for someone this much?â Brushing the hair that covers his forehead, he asked himself, with no one to answer.
Yuta walked to his bathroom, thinking that he would cool his head by taking a brisk shower. He took off his shirt, pausing in front of the sink before he entered the shower booth. He stared at his own reflection, blankly. No thoughts, head is empty. He just needs his time to process and to cope with his own heartbreak.
There are few objects that don't belong to him, and by then he noticed that she forgot to visit the bathroom when she cleared her stuff, leaving her toothbrush behind. He curled one side of his lips up, sighing regretfully before throwing the toothbrush to the trash bin nearby.
This is so I can forget about her faster.
Yuta taught to himself, before spotting another foreign item.
A pair of rose gold stud earrings. Yuta knows his pieces of jewelry because he never took off his. The simple design of the earrings is also a bit too plain for his liking, and the owner of them is no other than the person who just left this place.
He grabs it, about to throw them away. But hesitates, gripping the earrings inside his palm.Â
Yuta looks at the earring once more.
Maybe, just maybe, this is the only part of you that I could keep?
â
Days pass per normal for Yuta. Except that the people around him notice that heâs anything but it.
âYou alright, bro?â Doyoung tapped his shoulder, waking Yuta from his daze.
âWhat do you mean?â Yuta leans to the wall, inhaling his IQOS.
âI donât know man, youâre off these days.â Doyoung took a sip of his grapefruit drink. âIt seems like you have something on your mind. Have you talked to [Y/N] about it?â
Ah, so she hasnât told him.
Yuta thought to himself, not responding to Doyoung as he drew out a translucent smoke.
âShe might not be the best at giving advice, cause even she had a hard time figuring out herself. But I promise sheâs a good listener, Iâm sure she'll be able to give you some sort of comfort.â
Yuta just nodded to his statement.
He nodded because he himself knew how comfortable it was to be around her.
â
Yuta holds grudges. It was hard for him to admit it at first, but eventually, he accepts the annoying part of his personality. Fast forward five months after she left, Yuta still refused to go out. This clearly weirded everyone out since Yuta is the social butterfly. For him to reject their offer to visit the bar after office makes the lines on their foreheads more apparent than ever.
Yuta just needs some time, alone. He doesnât know for how long, but what he knows is that heâs just not in the mood to put on a fake happy smile when his own heart is like a shipwreck.
So he spent another night in at his apartment, opening a bottle of rye whiskey. Truthfully, Yuta prefers sweeter booze âsomething that is more fruity like his usual Cassis Orange. However these days, those cocktails couldnât shred his woe. He needs something stronger. He needs to be able to feel the burning sensation on his chest, replacing the pain of his heartache.
He went off to flump into the leather couch, putting down the glass of whiskey. He grabs the remote, browsing through the Netflix catalog. He stops, at one move named Kimi no Na wa.
He probably already watched this for million times. He loves this movie. Not only because of the well-executed animation and storyline, but it also reminds him of home.
And it painfully reminds him of her too. How she loved anime, and how her eyes glimmered every time Yuta told her a fun fact about Japanese culture.
âDid you know thereâs a trivia behind her name?â
âWho? Mitsuha?â
Yuta nods, âHer name means three leaves. Funnily enough, it started from her grandmother, Hitoha which means one leaf. And you guessed it, her motherâs name, Futaba, means two leaves and her little sister, Yotsuha, is four leaves.â
âWhoa!â She shrieked excitedly. âThatâs cute!â
Yuta laughed at the sight of her getting excited over something simple like this. Itâs nothing much for a Japanese man like him, but for her itâs something new and Yuta finds it very adorable.
If she was still here, he would cross his arm over her shoulder. Cuddling her.
But right now, all he could do is to rest his arm on the backrest of his couch. The only warmth that he could feel is from the whiskey.
Unable to focus on the movie, so he diverted his attention to see his phone.
Oh, how he regrets it.
He saw her social. She was with a group of people that Yuta knew from that party. But his finger reactively clicked on one of the tagged nameâs profiles.
Just to see him posted a photo of her. It was a candid photo, the person captured in the picture seemingly asked the photographer to stop. Her hands were blurred because she attempted to cover her mouth.
But she wasnât quick enough to stop the photographer from capturing her smile. A smile so bright Yuta knew he wasnât able to create. A smile that Yuta definitely misses.
The agony he felt amplified once he read the capture below the photo.
âI was yours, before I knew; and you have always been mine too.â
Yuta rolled his tongue over his front teeth. He knew he shouldnât feel this way, not when he is the one who let her go. But he is pissed, throwing his phone away.Â
He moves his palms to cover his eyes, resting his head. He lets out another sigh, but no matter how much he exhaled, no matter how much alcohol he drank, the rain cloud seems to follow him around.
âFuck this shit.â He hummed to himself.
He took his phone again, this time opening a different app. It took him a bit longer this time, but at least whatever he was doing, managed to put a smile on Yutaâs face.
He then proceeds to dial a number.
âHello, Doy? Iâll take a week off. Iâm flying to Osaka tomorrow.â
â
âHow could you come back home without noticing us?â
Yuta puts down his bag, worn out from the flight, âI canât even visit my own home now, Nee-san?â
âWhat I meant was,â His sister crossed his arm. âLast time you visited Osaka, youâd stay at the hotel because you wouldnât stay long. Mostly due to your business trip. What makes you suddenly miss home?â
âI just feel like taking some days off, Nee-san.â He replied without looking at this sister, busy unpacking his stuff. âAlso, Imouto has been texting me, telling me to bring her some signed goods from TVXQ.â
âWell if you said so,â Her sister knows how stubborn Yuta is, so she decides that she wonât press him further. âCome down when youâre ready. If only you told us you were coming earlier, mom wouldâve cooked us Nabe. But we donât have the ingredients, so you have to settle with curry tonight.â
Yuta finally looked back to smile at his sister, âCurry sounds great, Nee-san.â
â
Itâs great to be home, Yuta thought to himself.Â
The familiar road. People talking in his mother language. Food that is catered to fit his taste buds. He loves Korea, and everything it has to offer, but nothing could replace home.
âMy, Yuta is that you?!â An elderly woman called for him, snapping him from his day daze.
âOh, Baa-chan!â Yuta subconsciously lets out his signature radiant smile. âHow are you? I hope your back is fine now.â
âOh, youâre as sweet as I could remember, Yuta!â She giggled. âYou never visit your home, this Baa-chan misses you a lot, you know? I donât know how to use⊠what do they call those these days? Line?â
Yuta laughed. âYes, Line, Baa-chan.â
âRight, I canât contact you! You should come home more often. I could write you a letter but I donât know your address in Korea.â
âI miss you too, Baa-chan. Sorry, I promise to visit again.â
Baa-chan sells taiyaki in his neighborhood. Yuta is her regular customer, and she has witnessed how much Yuta grew from a small boy who aspires to be an Ultraman to a successful businessman he is right now. Yuta settled on the bench in front of Baa-chanâs store, filling her with the missing information pieces where Yuta finally left home for his career.
âNow take this,â She offered him a bag of taiyakis.
âOh, no Baa-chan. Let me pay,â He rustles his pant pocket, trying to find his wallet.
âMy dear Yuta!â She pushes the paper bag to him, âThis is a gift from me, as a thank you for visiting this old lady. Next time, bring your friend here so they can pay instead. Baa-chan wants to see your friends, I want to make sure they are good people.â
He lets out a soft chuckle. Baa-chan is always kind, and it touches his heart. Yuta treats her like sheâs her own grandmother. âIâll note that, Baa-chan.â
He waves goodbye to her and marches his way to a nearby park. The park used to be so big for the small Yuta. He used to think it would take forever to catch a ball that flies after his friend kicked it too high. But now that heâs a full-grown man, he even wonders how the hell he was able to play soccer with his friend in this field.Â
He sits down at the bench, taking a bite of the fresh taiyaki. Baa-chanâs taiyaki is the best. It might be a biased opinion, but every bite is like a memory lane for Yuta. The irreplaceable taste of childhood.
The dusk is near, and there is no child laughter at these hours since all of them have their curfews. With nothing to keep him entertained, he unlocked his phone, casually browsing through his social before pausing his munching at one post.
âCanât believe this man asked me to spend the rest of my life with him while Iâm about to throw the trash away. I hope your future daughter will experience a much more romantic proposal, you weirdo.â
Involuntarily the red bean paste from his bread squirted out, due to the fact Yuta unconsciously squeezed them. Was it out of anger? Out of disappointment? Or out of regret?
His blood is boiling, and with nobody around, nothing stops him. Yuta is usually calm, but right now he just wants to transfer the excessive anger somewhere. Heck, the tree next to him can be his punching bag.
My mom always told me to finish my meal so youâre not leaving until you eat everything.
But right now, Yuta is unable to take another bite. He even forced whatever he had left on his mouth down to his throat.
Why did I let you go?
He scoffed, mocking his own thought, âDamn, what a pathetic person you are, Yuta.â
-
Your first impression on Yuta is probably how strong his aura is. His gaze is sharp, complemented with a well-chiseled jawline. So you would never think that the same person has a sensitive soul. Ever since his trip to Japan, the Nakamato residence in Seoul is always decorated with fresh flowers, handpicked by Yuta himself. This is his way of finding peace. He always wanted to have a pet, but his busy schedule makes him unable to own one. Instead, heâs been paying more attention to greeneries in his home. He said it was a therapy for him, and having a living plant makes the place alive, so he claims.
The bell on the door jingles after Yuta pushes the door open, cueing the staff who were busy arranging a bouquet to greet him.
âWelcome to Paradise!â
Yuta nods at the staff, telling her to continue with her arrangement and let him browse the flower catalog by himself.
Soon after, the bell jingles once more âonly to reveal a young man with a sparkly eyes.
âSorry, __! Taeyong left his apron behind so I have to make a visit to Kitchen Beat first.â
The person at the counter chuckled, âDonât sweat it, Mark. Weâre not that busy today anyway.â
âLet me put my bag first, then Iâll help to cut the stems of the carnationsââ Markâs eyes grow bigger once he sees the familiar figure. âYuta-hyung? Ah, I mean, Sir!â
Yuta turned at the sound of his name. âOh, if it isnât Mark!â
âDidnât expect you to come here, Sir.â
âYou can talk to me comfortably, Mark. Weâre no strangers.â Yuta smiles. âFancy seeing you here, too. Are you part-timing here?â
Mark nods. âOther than my job as an English tutor, working here actually calms me down. Maybe the flower gives the peaceful atmosphere?â
Yuta hummed, agreeing with his statement.
âAlso, I can rest a bit because working here is not as busy as working at a cafe.â Mark continues, âThough weâre going to be busy pretty soon since Jaehyun-hyung ordered so many orchids for his wedding. Man, not just any orchid! If only he knows how difficult it is to obtainââ
Mark stopped at the sight of Yutaâs awkward face.
âShit, Mark, how could you forget that he was your Noonaâs ex-lover.â
He whispered to himself, but the store was fairly quiet with only faint instrumental song in the background âenabling Yuta to listen to each of his words clearly.
Your noona.
âMark, go change to your uniform.â A female voice breaks the tension, flinching Mark who reactively gives Yuta a deep bow afterward.
Yuta definitely needs time to process what just happened. Pressing his lips together while occasionally biting the skin.
âA cheerful young boy, isnât he?â
Yuta woke up from his daydream following her calm voice. âMark is energetic, and I love how positive his energy is. Though sometimes, that can cause him to be slightly dense, too.â
Yuta couldnât help but to let a single soft chuckle.
âSo please forgive him, yeah? Iâm sorry I couldnât help but to overheard your conversation. Donât take it to the heart, Mark was probably too excited. He didnât mean to hurt you.â
âI know. No offense is taken. I just need some time to digest it.â
âTake your time,â she continued with her bouquet, tying up the ribbon as the final touch. âThough, if I could suggest, I think our daffodils are very pretty today.â
âDaffodils?â
âYes, the yellow ones on that corner,â she pointed at a bunch of yellow flowers. âIâll help you with a bunch. Itâs on a house, as an apology from making you uncomfortable just now. Are you going to put it on a vase like the usual or are you going to give it to someone?â
Yuta widened his eyes, quickly shook his head, âOh please no need, Iâm not offended by all means.â
âAs the owner of this shop, I insist, Sir.â
Yuta hesitates, but eventually gives in. âThe usual. Actually, a single bloom is fine. I would feel bad, you know, if you're going to give me a bunch. Business is still business after all.â
His remarks only caused the other party to scoff, âOur business is doing well, Sir. So please donât fret on it. Anyway, it would mean a different thing if I donât give you in a bunch.â
âDifferent thing?â
âAh,â She closes her mouth with her hand. âDonât mind too much on it.â
-
After spending the whole day outside, all Yuta needs is a refreshing shower to wash down his sweat. He placed his new floral arrangement on his dining table, before taking his shirt off when he walked towards the bathroom. He threw his shirt to the laundry bag, and unlocked his phone, ready to play his shower playlist.
Bunch of daffodils?
He suddenly remembered how the florist mentioned the different meaning of daffodils. He quickly changed the tab, typing the question on Google.
Smirk appeared on his face, after so many days shied away from the surface.
âRebirth and new beginnings, huh?â He said to himself. âHow cheeky.â
He puts down his phone on the countertop, resting his arms at the sink before looking at himself in the mirror.
Yuta is determined.
He picks up his phone once more, dialing a number.
âDoyoung, do you know the best hair salon here?â
A/N: Weâre back with this!! Iâm so so excited to continue this hehe~ To be honest... continuing this series gives me a lot of anxiety. What if the audience donât like it? What if the one who loves Interlude wonât like my approach on continuing the story in Yutaâs POV? At some point it was difficult for me to write this, but as I persistently write this, it became more and more enjoyable and eventually those thoughts donât appear as much!
Another thing to note, to prevent any confusion, the reader for Prelude will be ___ instead of the usual [Y/N]. [Y/N] belongs to Interlude! So think of her as another character for Prelude!
Also again, Iâd like to remind you guys again since thereâs only three additional songs, this would be a mini-series instead of a full series like Interlude. But hopefully, you would still give Prelude tons of love too!
side note: reader does not meet her mate(Yuta) during this part,
âHey where have you been?â
âOut.â
âY/n, you know that you have to be careful out there.â
âI know I was just going for an evening walk, mom calm down.â
âThey are slowly closing in and weâre right outside of the town, if they come weâll be the first to be killed.â
âMom calm down the animal attacks havenât even been that bad.â
âI know I am just worried about you thatâs all.â
âDonât worry I can handle it.â
You tell her as you put your bow and arrow down on the old creaky table you had.
You and your mother had lived in the outskirts of the village that was a few miles away. Your mother used to love living there but it all changed when your dad was killed under mysterious circumstances but you knew it was a evil creature that was meant to be destroyed. Thatâs why you started to get better at hunting and plus you needed to put food on the table to help your mother.
âHow was the market?â
She asks as she tells you to sit down for dinner.
âIt was busy as usual, Ron wouldnt leave me alone again.â
âThat stupid boy, whenâs he going to learn that you arenât interested.â
Pushing her eyebrows in frustration your mother shakes her head.
âHeâs not bad, just annoying.â
You tell her trying to calm her down, you found it funny actually you knew that you could probably put him in his place if you wanted but it was easy to get him to do stuff for you. Yes it was mean but you didnât really care, you werenât forcing him to do it.
You two finish your meal as you laugh and talk about the rest of the day.
âWell I should check my traps for the night.â
You tell your mother as you get up and get ready to go outside.
âOk, be quick and safe, honey.â
âOf course,I wonât be long.â
You quickly saddle up your black mountain pony Jasper and head off.
The sky was a dark blue now as you headed onto the beaten trail into the forest. You only had five traps to check, the night was surprisingly warm but you still held tightly onto your cloak for more comfort then anything else. The night and forest never scared you before but something felt off. You had checked all but the last one was a bit further so you had awhile. Once you arrived to your trap what fell before your eyes surprised you. A smaller black wolf had gotten into your trap. The traps you set were more for smaller animals like rabbits and squirrels, not wolves.
You were standing there for awhile decided what to do. The black wolf was surprisingly calm and sitting only shifting slightly to move its paw for less pain. The animals dark brown eyes looked at you pleading for you to do something.
You were at a crossroads, it was beast like this who killed your father it was their fault that he was gone. You anted you just ignore it and leave it to starve but when you looked at itâs eyes you couldnât look the other way.
âCanât believe I am going to help a wolf.â
You say aloud for yourself.
Carefully approaching the animal you talk to it like a pet. It doesnât attack or even growl as you come forward. This was odd to you but you continued to work and with one last snap it was lose.
Really surprising you it came up to you just like a dog licking your face as a thank you.
âOk,ok stop that tickles.â
Know you were talking to it like it was a dog. The animal calmed down and went to run off but let out a whine as it came down on its paw.
âOh no.â
You knew you were going to need to deal with this. As you walked up to him again you heard a lot of howling and his eyes immediately changed he looked exactly like a monster know. He was facing away from you and snapped his head your way and softly barked at you. You knew that whoever was howling was not his friend and he wouldnât be able to do much against them, he was a small, injured wolf what was he going to do. Jasper was getting impatient and restless.
âCome here, come here.â
Calling out to the wolf as you held Jasper.
He limped towards your pony as he stood still as you calmed him down. Jasper was completely calm around the small wolf as he took a small hop to reach Jaspers back, You werenât surprised when this wolf acted more like a dog then a wolf.
As the howling grew louder and closer you hopped on Jasper and went straight home in a gallop. Jasper had no problem carrying the extra weight. You kept looking back making sure nothing was following you as the black wolf infront of you curled into you.
Cute you thought. It was completely dark when you arrived at your cabin that was only lit up by the single lantern that hung outside and the lamp in the living room was still on.
You quickly got Jasper settled down into the small pasture you had. Sadi your good nights as you carried the small wolf in your arms into your home.
âHow wa-
Your mom cuts her self off as she looks at the animal in your arms.
âGet that thing away from me!â
âMom calm down please.â
Your mother panics and stars running around like a chicken with whet head cut off.
âMom please.â
She continues to scream and knock furniture down in the process the wolf wakes up and jumps out of your arms scared. He starts to run around too. Total chaos is filled in the room you continue to shout to get someoneâs attention.
No one pays you any kind until you let out a loud whistle making both of them stop in their tracks.
âOk you two, letâs get the introductions.
âMom, meet cute, small wolf.â
âCute,small wolf meet mom.â
After you get everything sorted and cleaned up your mother calms down and doesnât mind you taking care of the wolf until his paw heals and other injuries. You take the small wolf with you in your room. You wanted nothing more then to lay in your soft welcoming bed. The wolf had decided to glue its self to your legs, he only reached a little bit above your knees,he was just so cute. The wolf would look at you with big doe eyes, you couldnât help but wonder something, why did he act so calm around you and not run or attack you like a normal wolf. Then again animals where smart so maybe he could just sense that you wanted to help. Anyways once you reach your room you start to change with the wolf and he suddenly turns aggressively towards the corner, strange. You simply shake it off and continue to get ready for bed. Hopping into bed you pat your bed and invite the wolf in your bed. He jumps up excitedly You didnât care about having animals in your bed and you felt safe with the animal surprisingly. As you laid next to the wolf curled up against you you couldnât help but think of the irony, you hated them or maybe it was just anger over your dads death. He offered comfort to you in a strange way, but you couldnât help something else was different about him. You simply drift into dreamland without realizing it.
Shining brightly into your room the sun wakes you up before your mom can. You struggle out of bed fighting against the control your soft blankets have over you.
Come on (y/n) you can do this.
Patting the place beside you expecting fur but you feel something different this time. You feel human hair? Human hair?
Wait what, thatâs not supposed to be there.
You turn your head slowly bit knowing what to expect. You make eye contact with a boy.
A boy!!!! What the hell was a boy doing in your room and more importantly why was he in your bed.
Out of shock you fall off of the bed, your fall scares the boy off of the his side. Two loud thumps fill the room.
âWho are you?â
You ask as you gather yourself
âWell, I am actually the wolf that you caught in your trap.â
He scratches his head looking at the ground avoiding your eyes.
Then it clicked in your mind, he was a werewolf.
âYouâre a-a-a-a-a-
Not finishing your sentence you faint due to unbelief and shock.

Read Interlude: No More Drama

A/N: I started Interlude: No More Drama series back in March, and I never knew that the series would go this far. Prelude: After Story is a mini-sequel that I actually didnât plan âsince I started to write Interlude during the Neozone era and I didnât know how they would bring the repackage album, but truthfully Iâm very proud of where it is. I think it is quite interesting to see things from Yutaâs POV!Â
I hope youâre not bored at this, but I wish I could convey my gratitude better. I already wrote my thank you during the end of Interlude, but Iâd like to say thanks again. Really, receiving warm messages especially during the current world situation does brighten up my day. So I hope that my writings could help to entertain you, to make your day (no puns intended hahaha).
This marks the end of Interlude: No More Drama and Prelude: After Story series! I personally think this is a milestone for me as a writer (especially this is one of my first published work). In the future, I would probably go cringe when I re-read this when Iâm able to write a better story, but nevertheless this is the first stepping stone and it doesnât change the fact that I will always feel proud of this. I really like how the story unfolds and how the character develops, and I think this is the perfect closure to end the series.
Thank you for loving them, and enjoying the ride with the characters!
Much love,
Dee
The same reaction, always, whenever Yuta received a guest.
You took a moment to admire his house. Itâs late, but after stepping inside, you are greeted with the large window âdisplaying the amazing view of the cityscape.
He took off his suit, throwing it to the armchair. âPlease be comfortable. Sorry for the sudden invitation, I realized I might be slightly pushy now that I've started to sober up. I canât believe I let a woman drive me home.â
You giggled softly. âPlease, gender shouldnât prevent you from driving safely. Anyway, you have a very nice place.â
He scoffed. âItâs humble, but I like this place. The view is very charming from here. Well, sit down, Iâll grab our glasses and some ice.â
Of course, his apartment is anything but humble. You quickly scanned the room as you make your way to where he pointed his couch is. There are weird ornaments as a part of the house decorations here and there, like a vase with Japanese ceramic technique with a single dark crimson rose and few decorations of octopuses âyou never knew how those could blend in together. Nevertheless, it has its own charm and the place screams his personality.
âHere,â He passes you a glass that is filled with caramel-colored liquid. The sound of the ice touching the glass snaps you from your daydream. âItâs Hibiki 12. I hope you donât mind whiskey?â
You accepted the glass with both of your hands. âIâm good with anything. Out of curiosity though, do you always have a Japanese liquor on hand?â
A wide grin appears on his face, showcasing the perfectly aligned teeth. âTo be precise, I always have Hibiki around because they are easier to drink. I managed to snatch a bottle of champagne and bourbon, though. Do you prefer those instead?â
âWould never refuse an invitation for a bottle of good quality champagne.â
âSeems like youâre a heavy drinker, Miss. I must say I think Iâm pretty good at handling my alcohol, but I want to make sure thereâs no accident tonight.â
You slightly flinched at his last sentence but managed to control your expression.
âAh, I think just normal? I could manage if we could keep the pace slow âthough Iâm pretty sure thatâs not what you wanted tonight.â
Yuta smirked, taking a seat on the floor across you. You followed him, taking a seat near him since it would be rude for you to remain seated on the couch while the house owner is being casual and sitting on the floor.
âActually, not really.â He said while twirling his class, taking another sip. âI was thinking of taking it slow tonight.â
You shifted your stare to see him. âIs that so.â
While you thought it was quite careless for him to invite a stranger âtechnically you are up until the car ride where you briefly introduce each otherâ to his house, youâre not the one to talk since you also waltzed into his apartment without any second thoughts.
Both of you donât mind the silence, as he continues to spin his middle finger around the rim of his glass. Either the alcohol starts to kick in, or he is consumed by his own thoughts. His cheeks start to flushed like cherry blossoms, and his mind is in a daze.
âIââ Yuta finally breaks the silence. âWas thinking a lot about my own feelings. On the contrary to my look, I think Iâm actually the type of person who feels a lot. Most of the time I decide things based on my feelings.â
You didnât respond, so thereâs a momentary pause before he bridges his story together. You didnât respond because you didnât pay him any attention, but you just feel like right now what he needs is to let out his feelings, bare to the table.
âWhen I received my invitation, I feel like the ground below my feet shattered. But at the same time, it would be rude of me to reject it when she was so excited about her wedding. I was thinking how could this person be so dense to invite me that are still wallowing in sorrow?â
You took another sip of your whiskey, keeping your mouth shut while listening to his story.
âAs I entered the venue today, each and every of my step seems harder. Like, I was regretting saying yes to her invitation.â
He then looked down at his almost empty glass. âThen I saw her face. And it feels like... all the answers that Iâve been looking for was there. That today was the day where I truly feel thankful that I made that decision. Iâm glad she looked happy,â
He took another sip, finishing whatever left on his glass. âIâm glad that I could end this and make it into a proper memory.â
There it is.
The man in front of you smiled when he reached the end of his sentence. But you can see how that smile was wrapped in sadness.
You know by the way he talks, he is a man full of passion. His directness that is sometimes always too spontaneous. But itâs not the blazing-type of passion. Maybe because of his past, thereâs always a trail of woe that surrounds him. That keeps him from burning his surroundings.
Like a blue flame.
âIâm sorry, it must be weird to suddenly listen to my sad story,â He said as he rises up. âLet me refill your glass. Should we take other liquor? I was thinking of switching it up to wine. I didnât lie when I said thereâs no more regret, but in order for me to truly accept it, I guess I kinda need to feel my feelings? I need something to dull the pain.â
âI thought you only stole bourbon and champagne?â
âYou canât call it a Nakamoto residence without a vast amount of alcohol gallery, you know?â
Finally, a hint of delight starts to replace the somber mood. âAgain, Iâm a guest so Iâll take anything. For your reference, though, Iâm more of a red wine person.â
He curls his lips upwards, chiseling his well-structured cheekbones, âGot it. Also, please be more comfortable. Iâm the one who suddenly invites you, after all.â
As he walks toward his wine fridge, you reactively rise up, about to offer your help. Youâve been sitting on your feet for quite a while, and your legs are definitely not ready for the sudden movement. You almost slip to the ground, but as if it was a shoujo manga, Yuta manages to catch you.
âCareful!â He said as he holds your upper arm, preventing you from falling.
It feels like the universe planned this all along, as cliche as it might sound.
You get to see his face, up close. The way his eyes pull you in, glistening from the alcohol that he had consumed.
It would be a lie if you told him that youâre not attracted. How could you not? The man in front of you is obviously good looking, but his demeanor, the way his voice travels through the air.
It was all just too alluring.
You avoided of the what-could-have-happened-next scenario by breaking the eye contact, looking away. It is a different case for Yuta. Because the sight of your neck, now burning in the vibrant pink flush is like an open invitation for him.
And he is not Yuta if he is not a decisive person.
He leans in, giving you a soft kiss on the lips. A kiss you didnât see coming, but most definitely sending electrifying feels to your spine. A kiss that is mixed with the bitterness from alcohol. Yet Hibiki is sweet, so you long for more, kissing him back in the process.
The kiss that was started gently, suddenly rises up as both of you wanting for more. He dives in, checking if you felt the same way. You reciprocated, biting his lower lips. Asking him to pace up the speed.
You thought he would gladly eat you. To your disappointment, however, he separates his lips from yours.
âAre you fine with this?â
His whispers are gentle, yet able to give you goosebumps. He knows, that even under influence he should earn your consent before moving on to the next step. That surprises you because you thought the alcohol would turn him into a beast. But Yuta remains as a gentleman.
So you shyly give him a nod of approval, much to gain his wonderful smile. He leans forward to kiss you, but this time in a much more aggressive manner.
As he trails his lips to your neck, soft moans escape from your lips.
âWait,â You stopped him half-way, which he only responded with a confused face. âCan we, uhm, perhaps move somewhere else? I⊠never done this⊠so I donât know if Iâm doing this right,â
Seeing how nervous you are, and the way you panicked over this, Yuta couldnât help to chuckle softly.Â
âOf course, that is rude of me,â He kissed your temple, followed by gentle strokes on your head.Â
âCome.â
He stands up, offering his hand in which you immediately accept. He guides you to his room. His room didnât shy away from being loud, some might even perceive it as odd since he opts to choose eccentric pieces to decorate his sanctuary. But everything seems to mesh well together with his plain beige wallpaper. There are a few unfinished canvases at the corner, most notably a painting of roses.
You were busy admiring his room to realize that he was waiting for you at the corner of his bed. Arms wide open ready to embrace you.
You giggled at the scene, but then you remember that you fall into his arms means it wonât stop at just there.
âCan I... use your bathroom first?â
You can feel the heat collecting on your cheek. You were embarrassed to ask such a question, but Yuta understands where you are coming from in a heartbeat, and you are glad for that.
âPlease,â He said, gesturing to you to find his bathroom. âBut once youâre done, weâre not stopping, yeah? I think Iâve been good for being patient, donât you think?â
You smiled at his remarks. âIâll be quick.â
You practically skipped your way to the bathroom. You checked yourself, at least making sure you smell pleasant. Then before leaving the bathroom door, you took your time in front of the sink. Contemplating with yourself in the mirror.
You are about to fuck Yuta.
The words repeated inside your head but soon vanished at the sight of a foreign object. Not that you are used to his apartment, but everything in his apartment was coated with his character, except this dainty jewelry.
It was a delicate, simple rose gold earrings. You noticed that Yuta rocks multiple piercings on both of his ears. But none are this delicate. It seems these were too plain for his liking.
Who am I to judge?
You said to yourself. You literally just know this man tonight and youâd be damned to judge his taste. Who knows, maybe he has those days where he wants to lay low. Whenever heâs going to meet his clients, perhaps? But you feel like keeping such delicate pieces in the bathroom has a potential of him losing it, so you call him out.
âYuta?â
He hummed as a form of reply.
âYou shouldnât keep your earrings near the sink, you know. You might wash them away by accident.â
Suddenly you can hear his footsteps, rushing. You didnât lock the door and you are glad that you didnât because he would probably break the door open. He rushed to grab the pair of earrings, and the color on his face fades away. The smile that once appeared on his face was no longer there.
This gains your confusion. What does a rose gold earring mean to him that he had to act this way?
A rose gold earring.
A painting of roses.
A single rose that was fresh, as if it was treated with the utmost care.
Then you remember that the sight of a rose is definitely not a stranger for you, especially the last three days.
You decorated the hall with roses.
The couple carefully selected the specific color of the roses, making the last few weeks like a nightmare looking out for the vendors.
Of course, you even arranged her bouquet with roses.
âDonât you dare to forget you add water to my shower gel.â
You could remember the laughter vividly in your head, but the last thing that you would want right now is to laugh.Â
âI get it.â You tried to act though, but thereâs a crack in your voice. âI get that you just told me you were trying to forget about her a few minutes ago.â
You can feel like your vision is about to start to blur, but you took a deep breath to prevent a single tear to drop.
âIâd like to blame it on the alcohol, but I guess Iâm at fault too.â
Was it the way he always smiled so brilliantly? His weird and odd taste that makes you furrow your brows the moment you step into his place? The way he comes to your shop every week to buy fresh flowers and look at them so lovingly?
Perhaps, because he could enter your heart so easily. Who knows, you might have already fallen for him the moment he requested for roses the first time you met him.
You get that you only get along well, and what are the chances that these things happen so smoothly? Youâre not a princess out of a Disney movie.
He evidently holds the pair of earrings so dearly, and even though youâre not the type of person who puts your feelings on your sleeve, it is inevitable that you felt the sharp pain on your chest.
âI never do this, Yuta. And I donât plan on doing these things, if that someone doesnât think about me at this very moment.â
Your words startled him, and before he could speak up, you gave him your last words. âPlease, donât ever take this so lightly, especially to me.â
You walked past him, grabbing your belongings in the living room before walking outside. You are glad Yuta didnât chase you, because it would hurt your pride if he knows that you cried a river when you walk your way to your car.
--
Itâs nearly a week since you closed your flower shop. This is your business and to be frank you are still upset about what happened after the wedding party. The newlyweds paid a hefty amount of money so you can survive a bit without operating. Though, this small shop that is also connected to your home upstairs will need to open soon in order for you to be able to pay your bills. Furthermore, your love for flowers is far too great for you to leave them without any attention.Â
You closed your shop, telling your customers (especially your regulars) and putting a sign in front of the shop that you will be back after a week of break. You also told Mark that he wouldnât need to come. He accepted it without pressing for further questions, but itâs so like Mark to make sure youâre alright.
âIâm fine, really. You donât need to pay for my shift this week either.â
âAre you sure? I was thinking I could give you half of it.â
âNo, I wouldnât feel good taking money without putting any effort into it. But most importantly, you sure youâre fine, Noona?â
You sighed in relief, glad that Mark is well-raised and how he always cares about the people around him. âIâm fine, Mark. I think the wedding frenzy got the best of me, so I was thinking of having a short break so I could have a fresh start.â
âWell, it was overwhelming, not gonna lie,â Mark said as he recalled how he helped you prepare for his brotherâs and new sis wedding. âI guess if you say so. Please if thereâs anything I could do to help, let me know Noona.â
You replied with a simple yes, throwing your phone to the bed after you ended the call.
The past week, all youâve been doing is to wake up early in the morning, tend the flowers, eat your breakfast, and go straight to nap. Itâs a bad habit, yes, but that is how you cope with sadness.
Sad? Am I entitled to feel so?
You only know Yuta briefly, he is a regular. The fact that you know that heâs a Japanese before he told you so is probably trivial to him.
âWeâre out of camellias, Iâm terribly sorry sir.â
âDo you know when the next batch will come?â
âUnfortunately camellias are not in season, so it will take a while for us to restock it.â
He sighed, then he looked at his wristwatch. It seems like he doesnât have that much time to browse the catalog.
âIs there a reason why youâre looking for camellias?â
âAh, not really. It reminds me of home. I just came back from there last week. I thought of getting roses, but I changed my mind.â
âHome?â
âOh, sorry. I wasnât from here. Iâm a Japanese, you see.â
âOh! I didnât notice.â
He shyly scratched the back of his head, still not used to people complimenting his bilingual ability. You find his reaction charming, unconsciously giggling at it.
âThen, sir, I assume youâre in a hurry. May I give you a suggestion?â
âHow do you know I was in a hurry?â
âWell it was easy since you immediately asked for camellia and looked at your watch the moment I told you we donât have one.â
He lets out a smile. A smile so warm that sunflowers might face toward his direction immediately. âIndeed, I have to meet someone this evening. So your help will actually good for my favor. I was thinking of buying flowers for my dining table, do you have any suggestions?â
Now itâs your turn to smile. âI think buttercups would be perfect.â
â
Yuta has been thinking a lot about what happened last Saturday.
Especially how he should talk to her.
Itâs easy to spot her store, Yuta and Doyoung practically passed by it every single morning on their way to the office. The sun hits the flower store perfectly. Not too harsh, just a bask of the golden ray. Usually, he would see how the beautifully bloomed flowers were displayed on the store windows. But itâs already day six and the store shows no sign of operations.
He reads the announcement board in front of the store; âParadise will be closed for an inventory check. We will be back to serve you next week!â
He feels dejected. Yuta couldnât just ask Mark for her number, that would have raised so many questions. Yes, Yuta kissed her, but was their relationship that close for him to ask for her number? The fact that both of them are not sober is also a part of Yutaâs concern.
So instead, Yuta planned to visit the florist (especially since heâs been skipping buying flowers for a week âhis vase longed to be filled with any arrangement) as an excuse to meet her. But now he even lost that very reason.
He was about to step away before a tune leaked out from the front door.
Someone is here.
Without hesitation, Yuta knocked on the front door. The one inside, however, did not expect any visitor. Yuta can hear how the person inside scrambles their way to open the door.
âYes?â
She lets out a professional smile, and it fades almost instantly as soon as she sees Yuta standing in front of her door.
âHi.â
âYuta!â She closes her mouth, surprised that she shrieked. âUhm, I⊠didnât expect you to come. But our store is currently close, so if youâre looking for flowers, unfortunately weââ
âI want to talk to you.â
Again, itâs so very Yuta to cut to the chase.
âI want to clarify a few things.â
She finally looked at him. She tried to remain calm, keeping the expressionless upfront. But Yuta could see how her pupils were quivering. She was trying to be brave.
âIâd like to apologize for three things. One, the way I reacted at that time. It was only mere minutes after I said that Iâm truly happy for her. As a human being, donât you think itâs understandable that I reacted that way?â
She nods but remained silent.
âIâm typically an extrovert, but Iâm very territorial with my personal space, and I let her go beyond the lines that I created. In a way, she is precious to me.â
This time, she didnât respond.
âAnd she would probably always be. But that doesnât mean I could only have one precious person in my life.â
She furrowed her brows, and Yuta smirked as he continued.
âAfter that night, I think a lot about my feelings. How I truly felt.â He scratches the back of his head that is not itchy, but because it takes a lot for Yuta to bare his feelings like this while being sober.
âAnd the answer remains the same. I genuinely feel happy for her. So I thought, it would only be right to properly keep everything away, little by little instead of throwing it away out of anger. Forcing myself to move on from her. Because I, too believe âas narcissistic as this might sound, that I was a part of a chapter in her life that she holds dear too. It might be slow progress, but I will get there, eventually.â
âSecondly, I apologize for not apologizing for kissing you that night. There is no regret, the attraction is mutual anyway.â
She tilted her head, before realizing what Yuta actually meant. âWait, you knew?â
He chuckles. âGoing back to Osaka was the turning point. Probably everything that I need. It forces me to start fresh, exactly like what I did when I first set foot in this country. It let me accept that Iâm actually the type of person who feels a lot. Like how I admit that Iâm hopelessly romantic.â
The cold atmosphere starts to melt away, with the addition of the sun seeps in between the leaves on the nearby tree.
âSo afterward Iâve been looking into subjects that I never knew I would be interested in, for example, flower languages. Might be the very first reason why I came to receive buttercups from this place.â
âSo what you saidâŠâ
âWell, I guess I can say my third and last apology. Iâm sorry that I am a hopeless romantic kind of guy. Iâm very direct, people often told me that I intimidate them sometimes just by doing nothing. But it is just my outer shell. I might not be as strong as the way people view me. Now that you know, it might put you off, huh.â
She finally laughs, âYuta, I am a florist. This is my field.â
As if her laugh is contagious, Yuta too, unconsciously smiling back.
âI guess, itâs been quite a journey. At least for me. Maybe Iâm the one who holds onto the feelings, thinking that I should hold into it for as long as I could possibly can. But life doesnât work that way, you know? And probably the time you gave me daffodils is one of the signs, too. I just brushed them off because of my stubbornness.â
âMaybe, just maybe, I want to start seeing life as it is. To enjoy the present. To enjoy life as moments. To experience the wonderful charm of its magic. One of the magical moments started here, and I love to cherish them while the magic is still here. In fact, itâs been a long time since things are going smoothly for me. So if I can be ever so selfish, would you let me?â
She was stunned by his remarks. Eyes blinking rapidly, completely unprepared for his sudden proposal.
Yuta had expected it. Itâs barely a week, and to receive this kind of confession âalthough not necessarily a boyfriend-girlfriend confessionâ from a man who just told you his grief can be confusing.
The confused face started to fade, and she left without replying to a single word.Â
Yuta thought she rejected him, asking him to leave the shop.
Well, you deserve this, Nakamoto.
As he was about to walk away, she came back with anthuriums on her hand. Taking a moment to catch for her breath as she was rushing to grab these flowers.
âThis is?â
âYou donât want an answer?â
He shook his head. âItâs not that. I mean, yes I told you Iâve been learning about flower languages but itâs mostly from Google, and I canât possibly remember the meaning of every single flower?â
âI can.â
âYou are a florist, my dear.â
She laughed lightly, a tone that was like jiggles of bells to Yutaâs ears.
âCan you move closer? I want to whisper these words to you.â
Yuta motioned to her immediately, obediently following her request. As her lips almost touch his ear, Yuta can feel his blood rushing to his ears.
She said, gently to his ears. âI hope youâll be happy today.â
Ever since Yuta moved to Seoul, he would always wait for Doyoung before they go to the office together. Simply because one, Yuta is an early riser and two, they lived in the same building.
Doyoung helped Yuta a lot with his move, which includes finding the best place for Yuta to stay for at least the next three years. Surprisingly, among all of the options that Doyoung has offered, Yuta fell in love with the apartment that was none other than Doyoungâs building.
âAre you sure about this?â
Yuta nods. âI like to keep my place with greeneries. This one faces the east, so Iâll get plenty of sunlight.â
Doyoung rested his hand on his hip, hummed in agreement. âIf you say so. The view from here is really pretty, that for sure.â
Yuta and Doyoung friendship are odd. Theyâre not exactly the closest friends âsince they started as colleagues. While Yuta worked with other people aside from Doyoung in the company, he felt most comfortable around him. Itâs just the charming point of Doyoung, since he always took care of people around him. Furthermore, Yuta did have a thing with his best friend, resulting in them sharing a fairly good amount of time outside of work, thus making them closer naturally. Though, itâs not like they suddenly could claim as to each otherâs partner in crime.
Today was like any other days. Yuta would wait in the smoking area near the parking lot. Yuta usually doesn't smoke in the morning âhe said he likes to keep his lungs fresh when he starts his dayâ but everything changed a year ago. He doesn't really mind though, ever since he converted to IQOS.
âMorning, I hope youâreâ whoa!â
Doyoung, who was still half-awake, is now on full alert when he sees Yuta.
âDude, what a haircut!â He exclaims. âI thought your long hair would fit you best. Pretty jealous with a guy whoâs able to tie their hair and still managed to look good, but dang those undercut looks good on you.â
Yuta smiled. âThanks, bro.â He draws a smoke. âThought it was a nice change. A new beginning, I guess? Like how someone told me.â
âA new beginning huh?â Doyoung shoved his hand to his pants pockets. âWell, speaking ofâŠâ
Yuta hummed at Doyoung, tilting his head because Doyoung is hesitating.
âNevermind, Iâll talk to you over coffee.â
âWow, such a joy killer.â Yuta quickly removes the white stick from its cartridge. âWell, letâs go then. I canât handle cliffhangers.â
â
âHere,â Doyoung passes Yutaâs usual americano while holding his own matcha latte.
âSankyuu,â Yuta thanked him, purposefully using his Japanese accent. âSo, care to continue where you left?â
Yuta could sense that Doyoung stopped sipping his straw. But Doyoung realized that heâs dealing with Yuta here and his best trait is his directness. Though heâs a bit taken aback, Doyoung already expected Yuta to go back straight to the topic.
âWell, the thing is,â He pulled the chair, sitting across Yuta. â[Y/N] asked me if she could meet you.â
â[Y/N]?â Yutaâs eyes widen. Amongst all of the people, her name was the least that he would expect to want to meet him. âMeeting me? Is there anything wrong?â
âThereâs nothing wrong, butâŠâ Doyoung pursing his lips, noticeably nervous. âDamn it, [Y/N], why do you have to do this to me?â He mumbles.
âBro seriously, just go straight to the point.â Yuta gives his cup a few twirls before sipping it. âI wonât be offended if that is what youâre worried about.â
Yuta can see how Doyoungâs adamâs apple moves up and down. âShe asked me whether she and Jaehyun could meet you to give you their wedding invitation.â
Immediately Yuta halted all of his movements. He has sworn to himself that he tries to move on. At this point he is even convinced that he already does. He never thought Doyoungâs last statement would cause that much pain.
Yuta remains silent, exactly how Doyoung expects him to be. âShe did it out of good intentions, Yuta. I mean, I was around when you guys were together and I know it sucks to come to your exâs wedding, butââ
âWe never dated.â Yuta cuts him off.
âWell, whatever you called your relationship back then. At least from my eyes, you guys were happy and regardless of the ending, you did help her out of her slump. And sheâs very grateful for that. If it werenât for you, she probably wouldn't be able to be her complete self again, let alone to be together with Jaehyun.â
âNonsense.â
Doyoung sighs. âYou are special to her, Yuta. That wouldnât change, no matter how bitter you take this news. If youâre uncomfortable I can come with you or I can ask [Y/N] to come by herself. Or would you rather to have her pass the invitation to me soââ
She came alone, just as Doyoung had promised. Yuta noticed she kept her hair length just the same. Nothing has really changed about her, except that she looks visibly more radiant.
She quickly spotted Yuta, and immediately pulled the chair in front of him.
âHi,â She said as she took her seat. âHave you been waiting long?â
Yuta could listen to this the whole day. Itâs a strange feeling for him. As much as he loves her laughter, he hated the fact that heâs such a simple man âbecause he wishes he could listen to her laugh nonstop. That he could be the one that makes her laugh.
âUhm, soâŠâ Her relaxed demeanor changed into a slightly more skittish posture. âI guess if you agree to be here, it means you know the reason why I want to meet you.â
Yuta parted his lips from his cup. âYou couldâve just text or call me by yourself, you know? Our Doyoung looked like a poor rabbit that got trapped.â
He glad he mentioned Doyoung, as it manages to put a smile on her face. âRight, you are a scorpio, to begin with.â
Yuta rested his chin on his hand, unconsciously smiling. He never believes in astrologies, but itâs funny how whenever she mentioned his sign, he would reactively feel giddy as it is the first thing that she knew about him âother than his name and his nationality, of course.
âWell,â She went through her purse. âI was hoping you could come to our wedding.â
Then when the smile gradually fades.
You expected this.
Yuta said that repeatedly in his mind. Yet the pain that he feels on his chest doesnât seem to subdue.
Sheâs marrying a Jeong. One of the most desirable bachelors in Seoul. Not only women are fawning over his look, but Jeong Jaehyun is a brilliant, wealthy man. At a young age and to be able to manage Seoulâs biggest corporate, itâs a no brainer that women fly around Jaehyun like heâs a flame to a moth.
Yuta expected the invitation to be grander, but instead, it was stunningly simple. The rose-embossed envelope was dominated with cream tones, and the only noticeable color was the muted rose gold wax seal on the envelope with their initials. Another simple detail that makes the invitation look even more beautiful was the addition of dried flowers in between the stamp and the envelope.
âItâs beautiful,â He flips the envelope to reveal a calligraphy text that reads Nakamoto Yuta. âYouâre a creative director indeed, huh.â
She pinches his hand at his jokes, to which Yuta quickly replies with repeated ouches.
âCan I open this?â
She nods, and Yuta carefully opens the envelope to reveal a tea-dyed paper that has floral-details embossed on the corner.
Love isnât something you find. Love is something that finds you.
And the two shall become one.
[Y/N] and Jaehyun invite you to celebrate their love and wedding.
Yuta remains silent as he continues to read the date and the venue, before finally speaking up.
âDinner, dance, and drinks to follow, huh?â
She held her breath, clearly unable to predict Yutaâs reaction. âSpecifically champagnes. Though, Iâm pretty sure Johnnyâs going to smuggle some whiskey âdonât ask me how.â
The memory of her, sitting next to him while going on a date seems as clear as a day for Yuta. He remembered how the tip of her ears turned red when he held her hands, receiving her smile at the end.
But she never shines as bright as she is right now. The way the stardust on her eyes sparkled when she talked about her wedding.
As painful as it is for Yuta to let her go, it would be even hurtful if he were to steal that happiness away from her.
âIâll come.â He puts the invitation back to its envelope.
âYou will?!â She shrieked, unable to contain her excitement.
âWhoa, calm down soon-to-be bride.â
âWell, I didnât expect you would⊠give me an answer this fast.â
âWhat? Do you expect me to be an asshole? You know Iâm a pretty decisive person.â
âIâm aware on how⊠awkward this situation is. So I expected a lot worse.â
Yuta scoffed at her remarks, cuts her off before she could continue, âCongratulations, [Y/N]. Iâm happy for you.â
Yuta saw how his statement caught her off guard, but her eyes slowly softened gradually. âThank you Yuta. Really, Iâm grateful that it was you.â
Yuta did not ask her to further explain her sentence.
âIâm glad it works out in the end.â
â
âAh, thank you.â
Yuta exited from the back seat of his Uber when the valet opened the car door for him. Although Yuta already owns a car in Seoul, he had a hunch that heâs going to drink a lot today and as a responsible adult, he decided to skip driving.
The wedding venue stretches out to the lobby âand Yuta can already tell that the scale of the wedding is quite grand. The hallway was filled with the wedding decorations, in which the couple tries to keep the ethereal theme intact. A large acrylic box filled with green leaves fillers and giant white orchid greets the guest. On that box Yuta could spot gold letterings that spelled Welcome to the Wedding of [Y/N] and Jaehyun on its full glory.
The more steps Yuta takes to walk to the main venue, the more magnificent the decoration is. Toffee-colored roses bloomed beautifully on the hallway, looking marvelous with the giant pampas in between. Yuta gave small nods in approval after looking at the decor âimpressed with the florist who worked on this.
Of course, he could see the pictorial pre-wedding photos of the couple. It seems like there are multiple themes for their pre-wedding shoots âfrom an editorial-like studio photoshoot to something that goes above and beyond like a shoot in the middle of the desert. Who knows how they were able to pull these off, but knowing the person sheâs marrying, the answer doesnât seem so far off.
However, the very photoshoot that made Yuta stop his step was the simplest theme; both of them laughing in the kitchen. Obviously Yuta is aware that there were probably crews behind the scene, asking them to pretend that theyâre cooking âor in this case, playing with their food. But for someone who spent a good amount of time loving this very person, he knows best that the smile on her face is genuine. And the way they hug each other was so full of love.
He bitterly smiled, steps getting heavier as he knows the more he entered, the more pain it is going to be for him.
Why did I say yes?
He didnât rethink much about his own question when he finally arrived at the main venue. The weather was clear as if nature is giving their blessing to the happy couple. The outdoor wedding was breathtaking, especially on the main wedding arch. The venue itself is already spectacular on its own âbeautifully nestled on the bank of the river. Another charming point is the fact that the traditional Korean architecture married very well with the skyscrapers across the river. Additionally, it was even more impressive because the guests are able to soak in the spellbinding view of the sunset.
âGood afternoon, sir.â The wedding organizer greets him. âAre you a part of the brideâs or the groomâs guest?â
âThe bride.â
She gave him a warm smile as she received the invitation, confirming his reservation. âOK, please take a seat on the left side. It shouldnât take long before the ceremony started.â
It was an intimate wedding. Though they were a pair of lovebirds before, it was not enough for Yuta to know every single person on her circle. At least, he was unable to find any familiar face. So Yuta assumed people like Doyoung, Hanbyul, and Mingyu are taking the role of bridesmaid and groomsmen.
He took a glance at the groomâs side, where he spotted Donghyuck whoâs glued to his phone. Yuta also notices the people from the last party, was it Sicheng and Taeil? He then saw how Taeyong quickly found his seat, and before long the ceremony was starting.
The officiant leads Jaehyun to wait at the altar from the side. Afterwards, Mark made his entrance, as Jaehyunâs only relative. The groomsmen quickly follow after, including Johnny whoâs his best man, escorted the bridesmaids down the aisle.
When the flower girl disperses the roses petals and the ring bearer enters, Yuta is unable to focus on anything but the person who is walking right behind them.
She was breathtakingly beautiful.
Her choice of the wedding gown was the classic white off-shoulder silhouette dress. But the Ăscar De La Renta gown is anything but mediocre. The floor-length tulle gown was embroidered with organza threaded flowers, and the veil that she wore that was made out of delicate chantilly lace. When he thought the dress couldnât impress him further, the custom made veil was dazzled with meticulously embroidered rhinestone embellishments.
As the bride makes her entrance, Jaehyun starts to hold his hand together tighter. It is almost too visible for the audience to see how red his hands are. Jaehyun is a man who rarely wears his emotions on his sleeve, but seeing the love of his life walking down the aisle is enough for him to take off his mask. The thought of making her officially his wife causes him to well up.
All eyes were on her, but Yuta was especially unable to stray his eyes away. The way she walks gently to meet her groom at the other end of the aisle, but at the same time holding her bouquet that is dominated with muted blush orchids that are complimented with white roses nervously.
Yuta is able to catch all of that. However the thing that keeps Yutaâs eyes fixed on her is how even with the sheer veil that covers her face, he could still see how incredibly happy she is.
And the one that is able to put on that radiant smile is no other than Jaehyun.
She finally reached where her future husband is. She faces Jaehyun, and he takes a step forward to lift up her veil. Almost instantly, a single stream falls from Jaehyunâs eyes. She was beyond beautiful in his eyes. And although he was crying, he couldnât help but to grin widely, exposing both of his dimples.
The sweet scene gained collective awes from the audiences. But Yuta took a deep breath instead so that he wonât stop collecting himself. Preventing him to do something that he would regret in future.
âDear our lovely guests,â The officiant opens the event. âWe are gathered here to celebrate love, the unison of our happy couple, [Y/N] and Jaehyun who are about to become Mr. and Mrs. Jeong.â
He proceeds by addressing the couple, and then comes the time where they exchange their vows.
â[Y/N],â Jaehyun opens up his cue card. âYou are, without a doubt, my unconditional love.â
Contradicting the smile that she put on her face, her eyes started to tear up. Jaehyun took another deep breath before he continued.
âToday, I love you completely, as I did yesterday and yes, definitely for another seventy years, and even more. I promise I will provide a safe haven for our family, like what you provided to me. I promise to build a home that is filled with joy, learning, and compassion. Thereâs no need for you to look for me because I will be there for you, always. I will share your dreams, your joys, and I will be the place of comfort in your sorrows. I promise that you are my once in a lifetime love, because I will always find you in every love song, even in deafening weather, on the smallest things, and my dream is still, and will always be you.â
She wished she could hug the person in front of him after he reached the end of his vow, but she was busy tapping the tissue gently so that the tears wonât ruin her hours-long makeup. The officiant gave her a nod, allowing her to proceed with her vow.
âJaehyun,â
Thereâs a crack in her voice, telling the audience that sheâs mustering all of her strength to keep herself calm and collected.
âMy everything, I give myself today to you to be your wife. I vow to share the rest of my life with you. To speak nothing but the truth to you in love. I promise that I will never give up on you, to respect you as to how you respected me. Building a home together with you seems like a dream, but my dream, too, is always you. Whether itâs through health, or illness, or when all of our hair turns grey and we get all wrinkly âat the end of my life, even when it has passed seventy years, I hope the person staying next to me is you.â
At her vow, Jaehyun repeatedly uses his thumb and index finger to wipe his own tears. He pressed his lips together, and even from far away it is visible that he was doing his best to hold his tears. Crying not out of sadness, but under immeasurable happiness.
After they exchange their rings, the couple look at each other once more. Completely on their own space. Speaking in a language that no other person in the audience could understand, before the officiant pulls them back.
âYou may now have your first kiss!â
At the sign, Jaeyun pulls her to his embrace and gently kisses his now-wife. As if theyâve dreamed of this moment to live, they closed their eyes to soak in all the raw emotions theyâve felt for each other. They only realize that the time didnât stop when the audiences are cheering for the happy couple.
And that is all Yuta needs to confirm his feelings.
Like everything that heâs been holding on, burst open like a bubble. There were no longer lingering feelings. No longer sign of remorse. Everything just made sense. So while people who sat nearby clapped and cheered, Yuta quietly wiped his own tears.
â
The scenery of the brilliant sunset is quickly replaced by the dim lights from the string lights that drape above the venue. While they provided tables for the guest to eat, all of them are currently holding drinks while enjoying the dance floor.Â
Yuta, on the other hand, decided to step away from the crowd. Distancing himself so that he can have a moment of peace for a second, but just enough for him to see how the happy couple shares their happiness with their friends and family.
âEnjoying the night breeze, sir?â
Yuta was not expecting someone to come see him. After all, the crowd that is acquainted with him is quite minimal in this party.
âAh, you areââ
âOh, how rude of me,â She uses her free hand to cover her mouth, before offering it to Yuta. âHi, Iâm __.â
âYes, the florist. Are you the groomâs guest?â Yuta assumed since Mark is working for her.
She quickly shook her head. âActually Iâm here because Iâm in charge of the floral decoration.â
Yutaâs eyes widened. âYou did all of these? Theyâre amazing!â
She smiles shyly. âIâm glad all of the efforts didnât go in vain. At least, Iâm glad to know that you like it.â
âThe couple is impressed, too, I bet.â
She nods her head. Yuta took another sip of his champagne before prolonging the pregnant pause.
âAre you OK?â
Yuta cocked his head, asking her to elaborate her question.
âI didnât mean to pry, but I saw the way you look at them during the ceremony and⊠you cried.â
Oh?
He didnât think that anybody would notice. Yuta does not have that much significance as part of the guest. He is not Johnny, being the groomâs best friend, nor Doyoung. He is simply the brideâs ex-lover, and they invited him probably out of guilt and a way of saying their gratitude.
He also didnât expect a woman would be as equally direct as him while keeping her eloquent speech.
âWell,â He twirls his glass of champagne. âAre you free? Or do you have any other responsibilities after this?â
âOh, usually I leave after I finish. Usually the W.O. would have their own cleaning team, and I leave the couple to decide what they would do with the flowers. Mark insisted me to enjoy the party, but itâs quite difficult to enjoy the party if I donât know anyone. Youâre a regular in our shop, so out of hope that I have sheer luck, you donât mind that I approached you first.â
A coy smile appears on Yutaâs face. âActually,â
He then took a glance at where the main event was. Looking directly on how Johnny forces Jaehyun to drink directly from the bottle, and the way his legs sways left and right before he falls to his wifeâs arm. A happy, but drunk chap.
âI happen to know one of the groomsmen. They clearly oversupply their alcohol, let me steal a bottle or two. Would you care to accompany me for a drink?â
Yuta saw how bewildered she is, and unconsciously laughed at her expression. âI guess the tie is not for me, it suffocating. Also, you donât need to worry about me being drunk-driving, I can also ask an Uber from the groomsmen.â
Yuta could see she nervously looking sideways, probably not sure how to react to Yutaâs invitation.
âThereâs no hidden agenda, really. Odd, isnât it? You are a stranger, yet I feel the most comfortable talking to you. Probably because you are a stranger, I got nothing to lose by telling you anything. You donât have any prior judgment about me anyway.â
She remained silent, eyes still fixed on Yuta. Silence consumed them, and the only sound that could be heard was the distant laughters from the dance floor.
âWell, Iâm not forcing you or anything.â Yuta decided to break the silence away. âBut I thought of drinking my woe away, and it would be a pretty sad scene, donât you think? To drink alone on such a happy day?â
She finally lets down her guard, smiling at him. âMy car is not fancy, but I can definitely drive well.â
A/N: Theyâre finally a married couple :â) One more chapter to go before the series come to an end!
Interlude: No More Drama after story â through Yutaâs eyes
Pairing: Yuta x Reader
Genre: Fluff, Angst
Surprise, surprise! I donât know whether any of you expected this, but ever since the repackage album is out, obviously I started looking into the new tracklists to make the continuation of Interlude.
To be honest, when I first started Interlude, thereâs no plan on creating the series (because hey, I did expect a repackage but I crafted the series based on the neozone album only). And after crafting it on my brain notes, I decided that Iâd like to continue the story from Yutaâs perspective.
Also, because there are only three additional songs, the series would be significantly shorter than Interlude. Nevertheless, I hope you would enjoy Prelude as much as you enjoyed Interlude!
