The petite man leans heavily on his stick, his knees shaking and his face flustered as he stands between you and this jerk that just started insulting you on the street. Tears were in the corners of his eyes.

“I can’t believe anyone would say something so cruel,” Yunan whimpers, obviously on the verge of sobbing. It was almost as if he was being called names.

The person who was insulting you for whatever reason (maybe you bumped into them without saying sorry) awkwardly clears their throat. Yes they intended to insult you, but the man you were with is making this weird. He had no intention on seeing a grown man cry today. It has made him so uncomfortable and sort of weirded out that he ends up backing away a few steps before running away.

After the man flees, Yunan sniffles, looking up at you. “I couldn’t do anything to stop him,” he says, the tears now just starting to pour out of his eyes, “I’m so terrible why do you stay with me. I’m rotten.”

“You’re not rotten--he saw you and ran away, and I’m not harmed... what more could you have done?”
