Holy crap, turns out I won’t only be seeing King Filip, Queen Mathilde, Prince Charles and The Duke and Duchess of Cambidge but also Dame Helen Mirren o_O I CANNOT WAIT THIS WEEKEND IS GONNA BE AMAZING
lol @people saying kate wasn't wearing mourning clothes when the queen of Belgium was wearing cream. I can understand criticism, but at least call out royals who do the same stuff. This fandom is weird, and what is with kate haters being obsessed with her crotch? You can't even tell Kate's coat had a heart shaped thing near her crotxh without looking at it. Creeeepy
Both of Kate’s outfits were appropriate for the events in my opinion.
To be honest, this wasn’t really an event for mourning, it was a commemoration. And even though you commemorate the dead, it has a different feel, a different vibe. The show in Ypres was not about mourning, it was about understanding. Letting yourself be engulfed by all that is shown and told, letting yourself feel the desperation and the fear that was felt by soldiers back then.
People need to understand the circumstances and the emotion as detailed as possible. Both to commemorate the fallen with genuine empathy and an understanding of their sacrifices, but also so that a war like this will never happen again.Â
Ypres is all about making sure people understand, educating them, and letting them really experience the emotional rollercoaster. If you allow yourself to get on that rollercoaster (many don’t) Ypres can turn your life upside down.Â
The same thing goes for Tyne Cot, it may be a cemetery, but it wasn’t a funeral, it’s not about mourning and showing tears. It’s about standing tall and showing respect, showing you’re grateful for the life you live and acknowledging that you’d never have the life you do if it weren’t for all of those who gave their lives.
About to leave for Ypres soon THE HYPE IS REAL I CAN’T WAIT
Theresa May will be joining Charles, Kate and William to Tyne Cot, Zonnebeke on the 31st

Okay so I went to Ypres yesterday and there was a ridiculous amount of people already so the chances I'll actually see the royals is teeny tiny o.o
Does anyone know why harry isn't going to the WW1 commemorations in Belgium, so odd William and kate are going with Charles and camila is mia as well. Tbh, she's a future queen consort, she and kate needs to do more
I have no idea why he isn’t coming but he is seriously missing out, the show looks absolutely AMAZING (I’m going to the avant-première tonight) and it includes War Horse and Dame Helen Mirren.
And then there’s the rest of Ypres he’s absolutely missing out on, Ypres was the centre of the Western Front in WWI and so much sht went down there. The monuments and museums and gravesites are amazing to see.Â
I can’t really comment on Camilla as I don’t know what numbers she’s currently pulling, I only count for the trio. But it is a pity she’s not coming, everyone who isn’t there tomorrow is missing out.
Royal visit Belgium | The security perimeter for the events in Ypres, most streets will be closed off (for pedestrians as well) only 3 places give access to the market square. The entire perimeter is about 1 kilometer wide.
