Hi ππ«ΆπΌ "And then you realized: 'Ah, I'm sitting here'" What confuses me is, how do you realize? For example, I'm listening to a song, how do you realize you're listening to it? Are there any exercises or techniques to shift your attention away from the song and toward noticing that you're listening to a song?
this is how i would explain that according to my understanding and belief....
think of it this way. you're sitting in a cinema watching a movie. the movie has sad scenes and you feel sad. scary scenes and you feel scared. happy scenes and you feel happy. you get so pulled into it that for a moment you forget you're sitting in a seat. you forget there's a screen. you forget none of it is actually happening to you.
that's exactly what life is doing to you every single day.
your thoughts, your emotions, your circumstances β all of it is just the movie playing on the screen. and you are so zoomed in that you forgot there's a you sitting back watching all of it.
the moment you remember β oh wait, i'm the one watching this, not the one in it β that's consciousness becoming aware of itself. that's you stepping back into the seat. the movie is still playing. life is still happening. but now you're not lost in it anymore. you're just watching. calm. present. in control.
and from that seat β that's where you get to decide what the next scene looks like. π€
