âItâs creepy when you do that, you knowâ
Your eyes narrow through your mask, seemingly rendering yourself from out of the dark that surrounds the rooftop on Gotham nights and you stroll over to the ledge where you can see civilians walk up and down the streets below, reminding you of small ants on pavement.
âI finally found youâ
âWasnât hidingâ
âIt didnât really seem like it. Took me an hour to find your hide outâ He hasnât looked at you yet, solely focused on hovering over the ledge, eyes examining the narrow lanes from afar and you ignore Jasonâs lack of interest in you.
âDoesnât matter, I told you I wanted to be aloneâ
âAt the risk of being slightly annoying, I thought today we could be alone together.â
You canât help the crinkle of your nose when the wind blows and the smell of soot travels through the air. âI can see why you come here to think though, itâs quiteâ
âNot quite enoughâ you fain hurt and place your free hand over your heart.
âAnd here I came all this way to check up on youâ
âYou checked. Iâm fine. Now you can goâ you roll your eyes at his flat tone.
âYouâre acting pretty harsh towards someone who got you a birthday presentâ Jason does what must have been an eye roll from under his helmet and he looks at you with his glowing white eyes.
âItâs not my birthdayâ
âNo butâŚthis is the same day we first met after you came backâŚâ
âFrom the deadâ Jason finishes what you didnât âno need to sugar coat it.â You bring your hand from behind your back to reveal a cupcake with white frosting and a small candle stuck in the center.
âYouâre jokingâ
âNot even a littleâ Jason scoffs âmake a wishâ
âThe candles not even litâ
âI didnât want to get candle wax on itâ your eyebrows furrow and you hurriedly grab the candle out of the cupcake. âThis isnât the only reason I came here though. Bruce thought you would have stopped by yesterday, so did I.â
âRight. Because there is something special about having dinner on Sundaysâ
âIt isnât about the foodâ
âI was busyâ he lies âbesides, why the hell would I want to be around them when theyâre all moppy? They always get like that this time of yearâ
âThey just care, like I doâ
âI donât need a lecture from youâ
Your brows draw closer together âI wasnât lecturing justâŚmaking a remark. Though if I was going to lecture you Iâd start off by saying Iâd want someone there for me if I was going through shit because Iâm smart enough to know when I canât deal with it on my ownâ
Jason gives you another eye roll âYeah, youâve said that beforeâ
âAnd arenât you lucky to have me?â
âLucky. Yeah.â Jason says sarcastically, nudging you with his arm. âAre you going to sit or just stand there?â You smile under your mask and plop down on the edge, dangling your feet over and mimicking Jasonâs own position. âBut you have got to stop talkingâ
âI can do thatâ you look down âitâsââ Jason holds a hand up, silently telling you to shut up âI was just going to say itâs not that bad up hereâ
âPlease stop talkingâ
You groan and through the silence you can hear distant police sirens zipping down the streets below and itâs been all of five minutes before Jason hears the familiarity of your voice again.
âThis is the alleyway where you met Bruce, right? Heard theyâre tearing this building downâ
âYeah, they areâ you nudge Jason back and offer up the cupcake and he takes it.
âSentimentalâ you say
âOh shut up. Youâre one to talk âcupcakeâ
âYou shut up. You own me 7 dollars for that by the wayâ Jason laughs and in all of one big bite the cupcake is gone
âYeah rightâ
âââ
This was inspired by that one scene with dick and jason on the rooftop in ak if you couldnât tell.
This was a bit short, hope you enjoyed thođđ˝
