Mostly because she has to, surred on by too much beer and her own hopeless crush. She’s glad for the company, more glad than she’ll say, leaning into him with a listless sigh. She wished she could pin things down. Figure out how to act NORMAL. Pretend for two minutes that she didn’t have psychic baggage she couldn’t ask other people to handle.

It’s abnormal – the spike of courage in her chest – and it only lasts a second. Long enough for her to lean up on her toes and drag his lips to hers, pouring something earnest into it before she remembers herself. And that they’re friends. Just friends. And it was safer, that way, probably. “Sorry – ah…” She’s quick enough to step back, fingers still twisted somewhere in his shirt. “We should – get out of here – go to the bar ….”

“ nope, ” he shrugged, walking up beside her in the kitchen with a fresh beer and the tail end of a slice of pizza in his hand. “ listen,” he started in, setting aside his pizza before facing her with a serious look. “ if i’m not datin’ anyone, or seein’ anyone or whatever... i’m not gonna go troll the bars for a random girl to keep me from bein’ sad about not having a sweetheart on valentines day. one, february 14th jus’ really ain’t that important for anyone to get all messed up about. two, i kinda consciously don’t pair myself off in relationships. so what’s there to be sad about? and plus... if i’m havin’ a one night stand, that person is gonna know straight up that its just a fling. people on valentines day make choices with poor judgement. so— i’d much rather spend today with friends. or a friend. like you. someone i enjoy th’ company of. ” he’d been droning on to what seemed like deaf ears. but he didn’t notice. he liked rambling about his romantic standards to anyone who’d listen. but if he’d paid a slight more attention, maybe he’d have seen the way courage swelled up in her as she pulled him close into a kiss. 

it was a surprise. he’d be the first to comment on how pretty liv was. she was cute as hell. and fun. and sweet. but he’d never really considered anything like this. he didn’t mind it, of course. what guy minds a kiss from a beautiful girl? but shocked? yeah... definitely shocked. “ uh, wait. shit. ” he cursed, uncharacteristically, as his mind struggled and scrambled to make sense of what just happened. his hand covered hers where it lay on his chest, enough to keep her from scurrying off. “ what was that all about? ”

✾ - why I chose my character.

Surprisingly, I chose to play Discord on a whim and this was back when I had my first account until I ended up switching to Celestia to do more character exploration, and then migrating back to Discord because I felt that I could do more with him.

Celestia is great but my creativity suffered with her, and I’m glad it did because thecelestialruler does such a superb job, and she’s thought of things for the princess I couldn’t even think of.

As for Discord, while challenging at times because of his unpredictability I think that’s what helped me build his character; he doesn’t know what he wants. I’ve said this so many times already but that is what I like the most about him because that may be his biggest flaw, and he has an eternity to think about it.

And I could probably write an essay on how much I love writing for Discord, but I think in a nutshell just to save everyone’s dashboards; he’s fun to play.
