I know they term they were talking about is yobbo but the whole time I was just thinking about that scene from hocus pocus where Dani is talking about “yabbos”😂

Dick and His Mates, 1973, Rennie Ellis (1940-2003, Australian).

I thought I’d post this shot from Australian photographer Rennie Ellis, because it was taken at the Melbourne Cup in 1973, 45 years ago (the Cup was 2 days ago), and although it’s well known, a Google search didn’t bring it up for me, and I wondered if that was some kind of censorship outcome (I say “outcome” as a description of the variable fortunes and factors that make something appear on Google or not).

Be sure to take it all in. Some people don’t see it all straight away. I think it’s genius, and for reasons obvious and not so much - sure, you could still do this today and maybe get away with it, and there’d be much discussion once your case made it to court as to how you should be dealt with.

Back then, people did shit like this all the time. I really wonder, every time I go through my Ellis books, who were these people and where are they now?
