If you use Yahoo for anything. Switch to Google or some other email provider. Yes, Google is evil and all that. But Yahoo will screw you sideways with a cactus. They will lock you out of your account, hold it hostage, and make you pay ransom to get it back.

To summarize a very long frustrating story, I am locked out of my Yahoo account because I changed phone numbers a while back. In order to log in, they send a code to your phone number that you need to type in. Because username and password aren't good enough.

So what do you DO if your phone number changed and you are locked out of your account? Surely there is some "my phone number changed" or "use security questions instead" or "sign in another way" option, right? HAHAHAHA you would think so, but no.

Your ONLY option is to call their paid premium customer service phone number. That costs money. They have NO free customer support options. You gotta whip out your credit/debit card to talk to a person on the phone if you got locked out of your account.

If you are thinking "Oh, I won't be dumb like that. I'll just update my phone number as soon as it changes, it'll be fine" just remember that in order to change your phone number, you need to log in to do it from your account settings. And what was that you needed to log in again? Oh yeah, the stupid code that they'll text to your OLD phone number.
