so ive had a loooot of thoughts about patricks post!ybc behavior and how it affects the rest of the band, and i really really like the idea that he turns to isolation as a means for keeping his freidns safe. i imagine for the first like. few days after they come home from the hospital patrick Does Not come out of his room/house for anything. ill operate under the assumption that this is s separate au from mine since mine..complicates things but. patrick goes back to his house and never comes out. it's noticeable because the rest of the band are traumatized and attached at the hip because of it. now...unfortunately due to many cgaracter reasons....i do not think joe or andy would approach patrick first :(( I KNOWW ACK IM SORRY. TOO MANY TOMATOES. STOP. STOP IT

the reason i don't think joe would try to pull him out of the initial slump is because he's already iffy on the fact that patrick's isolating at all. in my HONEST opinion i think joe would generally be frustrated with the way that patrick processes all of this. they are opposites to me. joe wants everything to be as normal as possible immeidately, and patrick seeks out change/improvement. this is reflective fo the way that they both were kinda moving during the real hiatus. joe immediately joins more bands (literally two of them at least lol) within the hiatus just as he's been doing his entire life. and he even carts andy along. joe does things the way that i think is most similar to the way his life already was. being in bands and touring with friends and everything. patrick, on the other hand, completely changes his entire life. he cuts and bleaches his hair, he does solo work where he sings (which is unusual because he had to be begged to sing before), and he tries to do something completely different from what he ahd been his whole life. in my head these habits carry onto the way they react to the events of ybc. after they're all out of the hospital joe wants everything to be completely the same (sans fall out boy but thats a thing to elaborate on later). he doesn't want to think about or confront any of what they went through at all. that's really difficult for him. patrick doesn't handle it any healthier than joe, but he does gravitate towards completely shifting the dynamics within the group as a response, which obviously manifests as isolation. because of this sheer difference of coping mechanisms, i think joe would become quite frustrated with patrick. in his traumatised brain, everyone needs to leave this behind to heal (not realizing he's highkey doing the opposite), and patrick's "harping on the subject" is keeping them where they don't need to be. he kinda feels like patrick is holding them back. truly, though, patrick is processing his emotions in a way that is forcing joe to also process his, which is obviously not very well appreciated. with all that said, Obviously joe cares about patrick. that's his best friend and it hurts to see him hurting. but.. that kinda makes it worse. I LOVE ANGST LOOOL

for andy.. in all honesty i truly don't think he'd be the kind of person to drag patrick out of his home like pete or joe would circumstantially, especially in the state that he's in. i think we all gloss over the sheer deconstruction of everything andy hurley stands for. i wont get into it (because i have before on here lol), but i genuinely don't think andy hurley would be mentally well enough to muster up the sheer force needed to get patrick to step foot out of his own household. that said, when patrick finally comes to live with the rest of them (in my au they live in petes apartment), andy is one of the main things getting through the patrick's fucked brain ideas. it's just that andyw asn't strong enough for the hard part i think.

pete, though, has a crazy savior complex in my mind, so immediately he's borderline harrassing patrick. at the front door of his house like "heyyy buddy... wanna come out and see your friends..? hey..! hey! hello! hi! hey!" literally using his old ass spare key to get inside his house and knock on the door of his bedroom like a creep. in more serious terms, i imagine pete would spend hours sitting on the floor outside of patricks bedroom just rambling at him. he'll talk about what's going on with the others, what's happening with the case against the vixens probably, or even just mundane things like what he might've cooked last or what show they watched yesterday. he also obviously tries to convince him that what happened wasn't his fault. that just because things went awry twice doesn't mean there's a pattern there. nobody's evil, or messed up, or anything. but they won't get through this unless they do it together. pete understands what patrick's going through more than any of them, so he gets through to him the most.

once patrick is out of his house it's a whole ordeal of therapy and comfort and patching up relationships, but this post is fucking long enough so. LOL im done

ALSO ON POLYFOB!!!!!! HOLY CARPFISH OOOOOHMIGOSH OKAY. so in my au they were all well past the line of romanticism pre!hiatus. so they were like. kissing. cuddling. having sex. yk boyfriend stuff. and they were grossly unhealthily codependent also. but it wasn't labelled because they're idiots. and the hiatus makes everything more awkward because it was lit a situationship breakup. BUUUT ybcs events make it so that the awkwardness is completely dissolved and replaced with more codependency. so they slowly develop a healthier romantic relationship alongside their healing process. and then they actually label it. like normal people. which is funny because fall out boy is not normal by any means :3
