Well it turns out, the name is from the Anglo-Saxon Ēarendel. He carries Thor through a number of frozen rivers and gets frostbite and Thor PULLS OFF HIS FROSTBITTEN TOE and THROWS IT INTO THE SKY where it BECOMES THE MORNING STAR.
