She used to go to an all-girl's middle school until "an incident" occurred. She was then homeschooled in a hospital for the last semester of middle school, and moved in with her brother to go to high school. Her parents haven't been in contact with her since.

Despite her outwardly childish appearance, she strives to be more mature without giving up on her interests.

She usually speaks in third person ("Mei wants [x]!") out of habit but switches to first person when she is actively trying to sound more mature.
