I read Monster and Berserk back to back (and god knows what (probably unnoticed anxiety) had me like. Catch up to the whole Berserk in a week or two) and while both series set well for me at the time, I was kind of leaning towards Monster a bit more due to how well the story was handled and the story is actually finished (THIS IS NO SHADE TO BERSERK OR ANYTHING I am actually sad it will not be finished by its creator....)

It was the first time since forever that I felt the "I read a whole story/book" kind of satisfying feeling I haven't had since I already have issues making myself read books

But every night before sleep I'd stay up late reading the two mangas but I just got so immersed in Monster

Every bit of the story felt interesting, every character, every panel, every expression and emotion and so many many terrifying things in it that gave me shivers thinking about it

And it's been a few years now and I feel like I forgot a good portion of the details and such that I could probably reread it and have a similar experience, even if I know how the story ends

Anime actually does a good job depicting the story as well, from what I heard. If you feel like watching instead of reading it works as well. But I want to say, if interested, at the very least to check out how mangaka handles paneling. It's so good...
