Oh anon, I like the way you’re thinking 😏 Jealous Yautja are my favorite Yautja 💚

Here’s how each boy handles jealousy when their human is getting attention from either another Yautja or a human (because yeah they’re getting both scenarios 🤭)

Keth’raal

Jealousy hits him fast and so obvious. He’s still young enough that he doesn’t have full control over his emotions yet.

VS another Yautja: Instant posturing. He steps right between you and the other hunter, mandibles flaring, chest puffed, letting out a series of sharp clicks and a low, warning growl that’s more possessiveness than actual aggression. He will grab your wrist and pull you closer while staring the other down. Afterwards he is extra clingy, following you around, asking questions like “Did you like his color better? His scars? Tell me.” He needs reassurance and praise (I can’t with him 😩🫶). Tell him he is the most impressive hunter you’ve ever seen and watch him instantly melt.

VS a human male: He looks more confused than angry at first Why is this small soft-skin touching my human? But once he clocks flirting, he changes dramatically. Full height, arms crossed, staring until the guy literally backs away. Then Keth’raal turns to you with big curious eyes, asking “He wanted to court you? With words? I can do words,” and then proceeds to awkwardly (but earnestly) compliment you for the next hour straight. He is almost arrogant, but you can tell he only craves your attention and reassurance.

Zha’kor

Jealousy? Nah he doesn’t do obvious jealousy. He does cold possessiveness.

VS another Yautja: He remains silent. Uncomfortably silent. The other male will suddenly feel eyes boring into him from across the room. Zha’kor won’t growl or show off, he will just appear behind the Yautja mid-conversation, one clawed hand on your shoulder, voice low but velvet You speak to what is already claimed. The other Yautja usually backs away very quickly. Later, Zha’kor will pin you against the nearest wall, mandibles tracing your throat, purring: “You let him look too long. Shall I remind you who you belong to?”

VS a human male: Even worse. He sees humans as lesser threats, so the jealousy is quieter but more powerful. He will watch from the shadows while the guy talks to you, then when you’re alone he will materialise out of thin air, tilt your chin up, and murmur, “he thinks he can have what’s mine? Ridiculous.” You’ll find mysterious hickeys and soft bite marks the next day and a very smug Zha’kor who “coincidentally” shows up whenever that human is around from then on.

Tarr’kon

Jealousy with him is rare and stoic but explosive when it finally surfaces.

VS another Yautja: He doesn’t show off but he acts immediately. One second the other male is too close, the next Tarr’kon has him pinned by the throat, his gaze deadly as he mouths a single snarled word: “Mine.” No explanation, no posturing, just plain killer energy. Afterward he’s silent for hours, brooding, until you touch him and he finally exhales. He won’t say he was jealous, he’ll just pull you into his lap and hold you until he feels calm.

VS a human male: He doesn’t understand why a fragile little human would even try, but the second he sees handsy flirting? Something snaps. He storms over, grabs the guy by the collar, lifting him clean off the ground , growls “Leave. Now.” in his scariest, lowest voice, then drops him like trash. He will turn to you with zero emotion on his face “He touched you.” If you reassure him he’s the only one, he will grunt and walk away… but you’ll catch him watching you more intently for days, like he’s making sure no one else dares again.

Kel’Rakur

Jealousy turns into a show off competition. He loves proving he’s better.

VS another Yautja: Fully territorial. He laughs loud, steps up chest-to-chest with the other Yautja, mandibles wide in a grin that’s all teeth: “You think you can take what’s mine?.” Then he proceeds to show off scars, trophies, size, while keeping one arm slung possessively around you. If the other doesn’t back down fast enough, Kel’Rakur will “accidentally” shoulder-check him hard enough to send him stumbling. Later he’s all over you: “See? Told you no one compares to me.”(Expect extra PDA the next days just so he can further prove his point 🤭)

VS a human male: He finds it hilarious at first (“This tiny thing thinks he has a chance?”), but the second the guy makes you laugh or touches your arm, it’s over. Kel’Rakur scoops you up bridal-style right in front of him, grins down at the guy “Keep talking. Every word just makes the victory sweeter when I carry her away from you. ” Then carries you off while loudly praising how perfect you are for him. He will spend the rest of the day marking you up (bites, hickeys under clothes) and calling you “my little trophy” extra loud.

I just recently dyed my hair like super bright, and it got me thinking, how would yautja's react? Like, would they think it's a way for humans to attract their mate like birds? Would they find the colors pleasing? Gross? Would they be curious/interested in the hair? Can yautja 'dye' or add colors to their dreadlocks? Would they show off their humans' new hair?

A Visual Guide for my Yautja:

Keth’raal: Forest Hunter (male)

Original Story: Trapped

Green skin with forest/jungle camouflage patterns, mottled spots and markings that help him blend into his natural environment.

Vibrant green eyes (with yellow flecks)

Long dreadlocks but only one is carrying a golden bead.

A faint blue scar on his nape.

Younger and recently blooded, around 7’8” tall (2,34 m) leaner and faster build.

Heavily resembles Scar from AVP

Zha’kor: Blue Giant (male)

Original Story: I Bite Back

Sapphire-blue skin with an almost jewel-like shimmer, accented by darker blue-black spotting and patterns.

His dreadlocks are very long, sleek and adorned with golden rings.

Eyes glow a piercing red.

Many faint scars on his torso.

Built like the ultimate Yautja: longer limbs, broader frame, easily towering over the others at 8’3” (2.54 m).

Tarr’kon: Red Menace (male)

Original Story: The King’s Right Hand

Striking crimson red skin (his rare red coloration sets him apart as something dangerous and unforgettable)

Heavily scarred from countless battles (his back bares the deepest scars)

His dreadlocks are thick, wild and extremely long without any accessories/beads.

One eye a fierce yellow-orange while the other is a milky white due to blindness

He rarely takes his mask off

Built like an absolute tank with raw, brutal power radiating from every muscle (8’1” feet/2.46 m)

Kel’Rakur: Olive Tan Knight (male)

Original Story: Eyes on me

Warm olive-brown/tan skin with earthy savanna tones that give him a grounded, beastly vibe.

Dreadlocks are thick and neat, not too long, braided with bold golden trophies

Eyes glow a sharp, predatory gold.

Also recently blooded and matching Keth’raal in height (7’8”), but packed with more aggressive bulk.

He can be reckless but doesn’t bear any deep scars yet

Btw, iirc, the yautja can live for hundreds of years. What do the boys think of them outliving their human, and how do they handle it?

Keth’raal would be obsessed with this loud reaction 🤭 He would tilt his head, mandibles clicking in that curious way he does, leaning close with a low purr: “Humans make such… dramatic noises when excited… do it again.” 💗

So how old are the boys, what do they think about outliving their human companions and how they handle it?

Ages (oldest to youngest):

Zha’kor is around 300 years old, prime adult Yautja, seasoned, but still in his peak 💙

Tarr’kon is around 250 years, solid adult, lots of scars and stories to tell ❤️

Kel’Rakur is around 70 years, freshly blooded, human-equivalent of mid-20s 🤎

Keth’raal is around 65 years, the baby of the group, human-equivalent of early 20s 💚

How they deal with outliving their human:

Zha’kor, being the oldest, has seen companions come and go across centuries. He’s quietly prepared for it, accepts the short flame of human life as part of what makes it burn so bright. He’ll care for his human meticulously into their old age, cherishing every moment without showing much emotion. When the end comes, he stays until the last breath, then honors their memory by keeping small trophies like a lock of their hair, a favorite trinket, something worn close to him. He doesn’t grieve loudly, he just carries them forever.

Tarr’kon thinks he’s ready because he has lost so much already. But he’s not. Not even close. His stoic facade cracks when his human starts looking frail, suddenly he’s researching forbidden tech, raging at healers, desperately trying to extend their time. He panics in silence. When it happens anyway, he can’t stay. He vanishes for decades, hunting alone in the darkest corners of space, refusing to feel until the pain dulls to a scar. He never takes another mate.

Kel’Rakur is straight-up denial. He refuses to even think about it until it’s staring him in the face. “You? Old? Never happening.” When age creeps in anyway, he gets angry, argues, storms off on hunts to avoid it, maybe even leaves for a while thinking distance will stop time. But he always comes back devastated. Grieves hard and long, wearing a piece of their clothing or jewelry woven into his armor forever. No one touches it. Ever.

Keth’raal… oh, my sweet, curious boy knows it’s coming. He’s young but not naive, he studies human biology, asks too many questions, tries to prepare himself. But he feels everything so deeply. When his human weakens, his knees literally shake. He never leaves their side, day and night vigil, holding their hand, purring softly to comfort them (and himself). At the end, he stays with the body long after, trembling, mandibles tucked tight and if Yautja could cry, he would be the one sobbing until he’s empty. The pain hits him like nothing else, but he honors them by telling their story to anyone who’ll listen, keeping their memory alive with wonder instead of just loss.

Truth is, they would all move stars to change it if they could. But in the end, that short human life just makes them love harder while it lasts.

Did I just make myself emotional while writing this? Yes. Was it worth it? Absolutely 🙂‍↕️

We’re sharing an apple. I take normal bites, while he takes bites that nearly eat half of it at once. I look down my phone.

“Someone has more questions for you!”

He nods, still chewing.

Me: “Okay, here we go. Does your clan have an honor code not to attack unarmed women and children?”

Keth’raal: “Yes. We do not take trophies from those who cannot fight back. No challenge, no honor. That rule is absolute. Unless the prey attacks first. Then it is no longer prey…”

Me: “Do you guys sleep together, like a big communal cuddle puddle?”

Keth’raal: Pauses mid-bite. “ ‘Cuddle puddle’… what a ridiculous phrase. But… yes, in the deep cold, packs sleep close for warmth. It conserves energy. Practical, not sentimental.”

Me: “Would you let an ooman cuddle you? You’re so big, you’d be great at it!”

Keth’raal: “If you are not armed… perhaps. But you can not leave once I fall asleep. My grip is… tight.”

Me: “You’re supposed to be this apex predator, right? Do you guys have weaknesses like humans? Ticklish? Pressure points?”

Keth’raal: “We have vulnerable spots, everyone does. Pressure points at the base of the skull and along the ribs. And ticklish? No. Not in the way you mean. But… there are places where a light touch can… distract me.”

Me: “That’s all for now. Thank you!”

Me, reading from my phone

“They want to know what you feel when your dreadlocks are touched.”

His head tilts, eyes narrowing slightly.

“Who’s asking?”

“Just answer the question.”

He clicks his mandibles once, thinking.

“…It depends who’s touching them.”

“And if it’s me?” I ask

Keth’raal glances at me when I read the question aloud.

“Regret? No.”

“That’s it?”

“…I do not leave what is mine.”

“…Okay but—”
