Awww I’ve read your works on Ao3 it’s really gorgeous!! Especially those Ainur stories inspired me a lot. 🥺Your submissive Námo attract me the most and it change his image in my mind. So,why do you think he would be a submissive one? I’d want to hear your ideas. Thanks!!!!!!!!
OHMIGOSH, thank you so much, you have no idea what a wonderful surprise this ask was!! It made my entire day, honestly. I'm so happy that these old (well, not that old technically, but as life goes on things start feeling like they happened in different centuries, you feel me?) stories continue to entertain and inspire fellow fans🥰
Anyway, as for your question! In general, the idea is that Námo's position and overall role in creation is one of high control. Not just in terms of what he does in relation to others, but also self-control. He has all this knowledge of the future that could alter and fuck up everything if he ever said just a bit too much or let something slip, not to mention all the times where he already knows that terrible things are going to happen and that informing the right people could prevent it all, but he is absolutely not allowed to do so because of Eru's free will mandate. Point is: Námo's not having a great time with his gift of prophecy. And so I think it could be genuinely cathartic for him if he gets to let go because someone else is taking control. No more big decisions, no more carefully monitoring his every move and word.
As far as the ship with Manwë specifically is concerned (if you've read those fics; please ignore this part if this wasn't what you read and were interested in), the other reason is also that my friend @sweethearticism and I explored their dynamic predominantly in the context of that specific ship and the way we were characterizing the two in our shared stories and AUs. Manwë especially has some differences between how he was in those and how I ended up writing him in unrelated works that I created by myself or with other people, and Námo adapted. Another thing we wanted to do was to subvert some common tropes around the "grumpy x sunshine" thing which this ship has going on too, making the sunshiney character more dominant unlike you see elsewhere.
I hope this answers your question and thanks again for this very lovely ask!💜
