Brainstorming a Yapock Friend
The Yapock, or water opposum of South America is likely the most aquatically adapted Marsuplai. Their tail is used as a rudder instead of for climbing, thought it may also be used as a manipulatory appendage to wrap around and carry objects.
Being an aquatic possum makes design possibilities interesting in creating a Kemono Friends counterpart, challenging previous design conventions.
Nearly all Marsupials have a maid theme except for the wombat who gets overalls , likely because of the latters’ burrowing adaptations,. The semiaquatic nature of the Yapock may be different enough to also have something different than maidwear (The maid theme is mainly excuse for aprons with pouches). As a non-cetacean water-related animal, other convention would be the outfit would be swimwear.
I tried looking up “maid swimsuits” ... but none of the results looked very practicall which I should have obviously expected in hindsight.
On the topic of hair and build: perhaps an androgynous but s appearance to represent how they are the only living Marsupials where both sexes posesses pouches? ( Thycalines males also had pouches but had very different builds than the females). Withdrawn due to learning the males keep their genitals in their pouch when swimming.
