2016 YM Wind (CSBC Kaohsiung/1039).
Ein Schiff wird kommen …
One of 84 container ships operated by Chinese giant Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation. Its name was a self-fulfilling prophecy: In September 2016 Wind was struck by a storm. The unfinished container ship allided with the quay at Kaohsiung, Taiwan, breaking its mooring as super typhoon Meranti hit the area. With winds reaching 230 miles per hour, the YM Wind was swept across the harbour and struck the quay, damaging its hull. Pretty impressive – considering this is a 368 meter long, 153500 gt vessel.
