Prompt #199
Vampire Hunter carried Vampire’s suitcase over the apartment threshold. Drawing the curtains and turning down the lights before beckoning their fanged charge to follow. “It may not be quite as shady as you’d like, but you’ll be safe here.”
“You can guarantee that?” Vampire asked, flopping down on the sofa with a tired sigh. They edged away from a stray sunbeam working its way around the curtain seam. “I’ve been relocated three times now. Three times I’ve had to rip up roots before they can even take.”
“Ok, you’re a little to blame too. Those hunters only found you because of your flaunting. Newsflash, Vampire, humans aren’t that strong.”
Vampire rolled their eyes: “Alright fine. You have valid theories. So how can you promise my safety this time?”
“Because this time I’ll be staying with you.”
