Hello! I just wanted to let you know that I am thrilled beyond belief that someone’s writing a CR/Firefly crossover, and I can’t wait to see where you take the plot and characters in this story, because it already seems so well thought out and characterized so far. :D I have a couple questions about the crossover, though, if that’s okay. Feel free to ignore any of these if they’re spoilery. ^^; 1), Is this a character crossover, or a fusion crossover? 1/3
Like, does the Greyskull and its crew replace the Serenity and its crew in this AU, or could VM conceivably interact with the canon characters at some point? 2) How old was Percy when he was “admitted” into the Academy, and how long has he been on the run? River was 14 when she was first admitted and about 17 when Simon busted her out. 3) Is there a reason Percy seems a bit more… lucid than River? 2/3
He seems rather cognizant for the most part when he’s not having one of his episodes, whereas she’s just a basket case most of the time. Was he in a separate program than her, or an earlier test subject or something? 3/3
I’d like to begin by saying how truly delighted I am that you like my work and feel so strongly about it that you chose to come talk to me about it. You’ve honestly made my week so much better than it was before just by doing that. I’m quite happy to answer your questions.
This is definitely specifically a crossover. A crossover implies introduction of characters from a different universe into that of another without much alteration to the existing canon, if any, whereas an AU is a much broader term that could mean a story being retold with the characters from another universe. In other words, this is a fusion. The canon events of Firefly/Serenity still apply; Mal and friends still exist; I have simply fit the characters of Critical Role into the Firefly universe.
Percy was admitted to the Academy when he was 16 and spent a year there before Cassandra helped him escape. He’s been running for five years, making him 22 at the start of my fic.
The fact that he was only there for a year partially explains why he’s more lucid than River. He experienced fewer experiments than she did. The other half of it is that, yes, he wasn’t in quite the same programme as her. I’ve always had this idea that the Academy has different programmes like any real school would that groom the “students” for specific roles. They all get the physical abilities, since this is a paramilitary operation and if nothing else these “assets” should be able to attack and defend, but some are more trained for certain things than others. Dr. Ripley’s “students” were part of a programme looking to unlock minds that could potentially design horrific weapons (Percy did majorly hint at this when he explained about the Academy). I’ve an idea that one such subject designed the little device that the Blue Hands use.

OMG, your headcanons for the Patience and Justice souls are adorable! Is it just me, or does the girl look like she has albinism? (The boy might have it too, since his eyes look a bit reddish, but I'm willing to chalk that up to being a trick of the light) Do you have names for them? If you ever feel like expanding on their story, I for one would be all for it. (And the other souls, too, since your designs have all been fantastic so far.)

Also she does have albinism! In her case it’s a symptom of a condition called Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome. Hence the, uh, medical bracelet.
Which is also the biggest reason for why they couldn’t just settle in the underground with Toriel. And was the reason why Justice tried to go on ahead to find a way out.

This post made me snicker for about a minute straight. XD Don't worry, it happens to the best of us sometimes. ;) It's actually just the skeletons that speak in different fonts. Everyone else speaks in regular text. I'm curious, though, was it a certain thing that made it click for you or was it a random "aha" moment?
to be honest, it’s because today was the first time in a while that i remembered that papyrus is a font. i was scrolling through fonts in photoshop today, and i saw it, and i was like ‘why does that look familiar........ holy SHIT.’ you’ve reblogged enough stuff that it’s imprinted onto my brain.

favourite episode/etc: she has so many great moments, too many to name, but........ suzy sulking under the table during an Official Meeting and poking dame primus in the foot with a needle is the funniest thing in the entire series and my favorite.

headcanon: post-series, she and art and fred are all very much into catching up with and keeping up with earth stuff, and suzy is generally the one to initiate most of the ideas (like road trips) and then maybe start on organizing like one (1) aspect of it before leaving ‘actually planning things and getting them done’ to the other two.
