Robots, Bugs, and Robot Bugs

I've been kicking this can down the road for wayy too long but since it's January, here's my new commission post! With price breakdowns arranged in a way that hopefully makes sense!

Yep! I've been keeping up with the previews and drew some of the new characters a bit ago. I've been posting about it a bit more on my main blog, but the long and short of my thoughts is... it's probably got the strongest visual design of the CG incarnations? I'm still quite sad they made Jet so... standard looking, but at least he's not also blond this time. Most of the other characters look alright, but I think G-Junior in particular got pretty badly downgraded... my hopes for the actual story are not terribly high but I'll still watch it when it comes out.

If you were looking for a basic explanation, Cyborg 009 is a 1964 manga series by Shotaro Ishinomori- if you're familiar with Kamen Rider or Super Sentai, it's the same person behind those, and 009 kinda serves as something of a prototype to both. It's been adapted into many shows/movies, with the latest of which slated for this summer, so, like. very soon.

The premise is that an organization called Black Ghost kidnaps nine people from all over the world and turns them into prototype cyborg soldiers, but with the aid of one scientist working on the inside, they escape and begin fighting against Black Ghost's plans for world dominion. It's got strong humanitarian and anti-war themes, but is also largely a fun action manga.
