TIME MEANT NOTHING TO THE STARS REIGNING IN THE SKY.
That so much had passed back home compared to Spirale was a shock, given the nature of her last brief stay in the city. And had that truly been for the better? The fire in her heart burned brighter than ever, stoked by two years of struggle on the lonely path to destiny’s fulfillment. It was a path she had never wanted to take, but the only one upon which to tread, would-be world saviors dogging her heels with every step.
And now? The Stars had shown just how much destiny meant. For their power was such that it eclipsed the will of the universe, of all universes. And having learned of the swift, anticlimactic end to the previous conflict which she had endured...
“These Stars think they’re so clever, limiting people’s powers like it makes everyone equal. Forcing you to dance to their tune to get all your shit back.”
Eyes burning like coals, her attention was focused on a kid who looked like he hadn’t seen the sun in years. Well, not quite a kid, but he was definitely much younger than her. Revenant called forth a fireball into her palm, the heat prickling at her skin. It flickered and danced, casting an orange glow on their surroundings. It was a smidge of color amidst the depressive subdued hues of the lower levels of Fibonacci ward.
“That’s the one thing about fire. It doesn’t fucking matter if it starts small, it spreads. And spreads, and spreads, until the only option left is to let it burn.”
Lip curling, the woman tossed the flaming ball as if it were a coin, flipping it a few times as she spoke before smothering in in a closed fist. This guy... He was young, and looked a little unhinged, but something about him reeked of danger. Revenant wasn’t put off by it, though-- Much to the contrary. She was interested in what he might have to say.
“And what do you think, huh? About this island. The Stars. You don’t actually want to do what they say, do you?”
