It was Christmas Eve, and Fred and (Y/N) were preparing to head over to The Burrow for the family dinner; but both found themselves feeling nervous. “Just a second, I forgot where I put—”
“It’s in the draw next to the bed!”
“Found it!”
The two ran to meet by the door, (Y/N) tossed Fred his coat as she threw her own on her shoulders. She checked the time on the clock on the wall – if they set off now they might only be a little late. “Have we got everything? I feel like I’ve forgotten something.”
Fred shook his head. “No no, we’ve got everything, and if not I’ll just pop back, okay? Don’t worry so much.” He wrapped his scarf around his neck, and an arm around her shoulders. She huffed out a breath of nerves, taking the bag from his arms. “It’s gonna be fine, they’re all gonna love you y’know? Especially Mum – I’m just a little worried they’ll scare you off.” He laughed, resting his chin on her head.
(Y/N) shook her head. “Nah, it’d take more than that to get rid of me.”
They straightened up and Fred took her hand, rubbing his thumb over it comfortingly. “So I probably should’ve mentioned this earlier…” he started as (Y/N) gave him a curious look, furrowing her brows in suspicion, “erm… how do you feel about apparating?”
“Excuse me, what--?”
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
They landed not far from The Burrow, Fred (having apparated many times) only wobbled slightly, (Y/N) however, almost fell on her face, being held up by her wizard. She leant forward, with a heavy feeling in her stomach as she gagged. “Oh God… why… ugh…”
“Sorry love, I forgot how it feels the first time.” He answered as he rubbed her back until she stood straight.
As she did, (Y/N) took in her surroundings; the blankets of white over the fields, the crumpled leaves buried beneath snow and ice, and of course the amazing sight of the Weasley house; the layers of floor towering at different levels; it was magnificent.
“I-it’s not much but… y’know, it’s home.” Fred shrugged, feeling a little nervous now that they were actually here. He took a breath, and he took her hand; pulling her to his home.
That heavy weight came back to her stomach as (Y/N) stared at the door, her heart beating faster with each step. Then, before she could turn back, Fred opened the door.
Instantly, the smell of potatoes and meats and vegetables and cookies and God knows what else hit them in the face, a bold difference to the clean, cold air from outside. The bustling sound of voices and footsteps and children could be heard all around the house, lights and decorations were dotted about, a Christmas tree with an abundance of gifts to and from every family member and guest. Warm air swarmed them in a welcoming home-like feeling and the smell of hot beverages lingered on it. It was like an overload to the senses, and if (Y/N) could put the whole holiday into one picture – one moment – it would be this. Just as she was about to say something, to comment on the extravagant nature or the multiple magical objects or the faint smell of something burning, a cheerful voice interrupted her. “Fred! Oh, dear, it’s wonderful to have you back!” A short red-headed woman squealed, pulling her son down for a hug as if she hadn’t seen him in the longest time. (Y/N) stood a little behind him, watching the scene with a smirk; Fred blushing with embarrassment as his mother kissed his face, but hiding the smile that said he’d missed this just as much.
“Muuuummm…” Fred groaned, “stop it – I’m a grown man!”
“I don’t care how old you are.” Said the woman, sounding like such a typical mother. “Now tell me, where’s this girl I’ve heard so much about? You did bring her, didn’t you?” She asked, looking behind Fred’s shoulder to see the girl in question, then carelessly shoving him aside. “Oh! you must be (Y/N)! Wonderful to finally meet you, dear!” Then she pulled her into a bone crushing hug, clearly very excited.
(Y/N) tried to hug back the best she could, but with her arms trapped by her sides, it was a little difficult. “Muuum, let ‘er breathe…” She heard from beside her, just able to see Fred in the corner of her eye, covering his face.
She was released from the death grip around her a second later, getting a full view of the woman. “It’s nice to meet you, Mrs Weasley.” (Y/N) said, a little shyly.
“Oh, please dear, call me Molly.” She took the girl’s hand and brought her further into the house, Fred desperately trailing after them. “I just can’t wait for you to meet everyone. Arthur!” Truth be told, (Y/N) was feeling a bit overwhelmed, but was still quite comforted that his mother was so nice. “Arthur!”
A red-headed man came into view, grinning after a moment. “Ah! Yes, hello.” He said, then patted Fred on the shoulder before he introduced himself. “Right, yes, Arthur Weasley – lovely to meet you,” he put out his hand for her to shake, which she did, but then the man seemed to lose himself in a small burst of impatience. “So! Tell me, how is the muggle world? How is America? What exactly is a croc?”
(Y/N) stuttered a little to find an answer (and trying to recover from her immediate confusion) while Fred squeezed his eyes in (figurative) pain. Oh Merlin, someone please help…
“I heard the door, are they here?” A voice came as if on cue; Fred looking up to the ceiling with wide eyes suspiciously. A bushy haired young woman turned into the room, wearing blue jeans and a classy flowing black top – looking very beautiful, (Y/N) thought. She took in the scene, and Fred’s desperate look, and knew that this was the perfect time to interrupt whatever was about to happen. “You must be (Y/N), I’m Hermione.” The brunette informed, smiling kindly as they shook hands. “Why don’t I introduce you to everyone?” She sent a look towards Fred, then lead (Y/N) away from the clearly very excited parents, telling Molly that she’d be down soon to help with the rest of the cooking. Hermione took her up the creaky wooden stairs and, once they were out of ear-shot, gave her a brief explanation. “Sorry about that, they’re just really excited to meet you – Fred’s not brought a girl over before, apparently, but he’s probably talking to them about it all now. Anyway, George sent me a letter asking for my help, since the boys are usually completely clueless when it comes to these things. Their parents are really nice, just a little too much sometimes is all, but that’s why I’m here. The backup.” She concluded with finality, rushing it all out quite quickly and giving (Y/N) the impression that she was the head-strong type of girl for sure. “Any questions?” Hermione asked as they reached the first floor, hearing voices and ruckus from behind doors all the way up. (Y/N) shook her head, feeling that everything had been covered, then Hermione lead her to the first door. “Great, I figured you’d want to meet the girls first – believe me, in a house this full of men we’ve learned to stick together.” She sent her a wink then opened the door.
It was a bedroom, quite cosy, with a couple of beds inside where these women were sat. One with beautiful silvery blonde hair pulled into a bun, who looked just a little older than them, and a red-head who seemed younger. She assumed this was Ginny, the youngest and only girl, Fred talked about her quite admirably – though he would definitely hate it if she found that out. This woman stood quickly and embraced (Y/N) in a hug – much like her mother. “Hi, I’m Ginny, I've so been looking forward to meeting you!” She beamed as she pulled away.
“(Y/N),” she replied; truth be told, she wasn’t very sure on what to say, she’d never met a boyfriend’s wizard family before. Obviously.
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
After being introduced to some more of Fred’s siblings, spouses (such as a Harry Potter, who had a very smug look on his face), and some children that were also very excited to meet her and marvelled at her accent, trying to imitate it.
Soon she was lead into a living area by Ginny, Hermione having gone to help Molly as promised; there was a fireplace and sofas, with many people that she had already met sitting comfortably, and an old-fashioned radio was playing Christmas music that (Y/N) couldn’t recognise. Fred came up behind her and put a hand on her waist. “Hey,” he greeted.
“Hey.”
“How’d it go? They weren’t too much, were they?” Fred asked, still worried that someone would screw this up for him.
She shook her head and giggled. “No no, they’re great.”
“Good…” he mumbled. He looked a little on edge, (Y/N) thought, with his slightly creased brow and how he kept tapping his leg. “So,” he cleared his throat, “d’you wanna meet George? He… uh… he’s nicking some shortbread from the kitchen.”
She nodded eagerly; wanting to meet her boyfriend’s twin, his closest friend, his partner in crime. “Of course.”
Meeting his twin was… well it was pretty weird. George looked exactly like Fred, as she’d expected, but it was still strange. It was just so weird to see just how alike they were. “Hey! I’m George.” He’d said, shaking her hand and sending his brother a suspicious looking expression. “Well, (Y/N), I’ve heard so much about you. Seriously, so much. Like, a lot. It’s a miracle if I can get this one to shut up—”
“-George—”
“-Honestly, he talks about you a lot.” George said as he wrapped an arm around her and lead her away, Fred trying to chase after them and stop any embarrassing disasters. “I’ve basically already met ya’. Y’know, the only way I can get him to shut up is—”
“-George,” Fred’s face was beat red, redder than his hair, and he looked like he was about to combust. George started snickering as (Y/N) tried to contain her laughter, Fred pulled her back to him, resisting the urge to bury his face in her neck. “Anyway,” George laughed, “it’s good to meet ya’.” Finally, it seemed he’s had enough of torturing his brother. “You two are staying the night, right? Mum got our rooms all ready, the kids are all sharing a room, most of ‘em are sleepin’ on the floor. But anyway, looks like you’ll have to share.” He sent a wink and disappeared, probably to go cause some trouble elsewhere – some people just don’t change.
Fred groaned and buried his face in her hair, giving in to temptation. “Sorry ‘bout that,” He said, “he told me he’d be on his best behaviour, I just forgot to get him to specify what behaviour that was.” He pulled her back to the living room, where they squeezed onto a sofa and started to chat with others. It was nice, hot drinks where passed around with cookies and treats. Laughter filled the room along with the smell of hot chocolates melting in a pan from the kitchen.
After an hour or so, (Y/N) felt a small tug on her sweater sleeve. She looked down to see a little boy, about four maybe, with fluffy brow hair. “Hi,” she said curiously as the boy stared up at her.
“Hi…” he said, wringing his hands nervously as his hair took on a yellow-ish tinge, making (Y/N)’s eyes widen slightly. “I’m Teddy.”
“I’m (Y/N).” She replied sweetly.
“’Mione said you’re from America.” He mumbled shyly, but clearly very curious.
She nodded, “That’s right, (Y/S).”
“Whoa…” he whispered, making (Y/N) laugh quietly. “What’s it like there? I always wanted to see the… t-the Grand um… Grand Canary.”
Cute, thought (Y/N), ruffling his hair. “How about I take you some day?” She offered, then the boy smiled widely and his hair turned blue, shocking her. “How’d you do that?” She wondered allowed.
Teddy blushed lightly. “Uncle Harry says I’m a um… a metamomo… er… met…”
“Metamorphagus,” Fred offered from beside her, obviously having been listening in.
“Yeah,” Teddy said, his hair flashing back to brown for a second, then back again. “Is it true that in America they have cheese in bottles?”
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
By six o’clock everyone was sat at the dinner table, which had been extended (with magic of course) to fit both the many people and the many foods. Arthur had asked some seemingly ridiculous questions quite often, which (Y/N) tried to answer to the best of her ability. And whenever things seemed to get a little out of hand, Hermione would draw attention to something else or start a new topic of conversation; the backup, as promised. Even though they were a little much sometimes, (Y/N) really thought they were amazing. Mrs Weasley was so kind and loving, Mr Weasley was inquisitive and open-minded, Fred’s siblings were all so nice to her too, even Percy who she had been told was the grumpy one. Harry and Ron seemed to be very close, and both liked to joke around with her. Overall, this Christmas was going to be great.
So, after spending hours around the fire talking with everyone and sharing stories, (Y/N) and Fred were among the last to head up to bed. And with the house already being so full it meant that the two would be sharing Fred’s old bed, though neither of them were complaining – they were both adults after all. Crawling into the bed as quietly as possible, trying not to wake George, Fred wrapped his arms around her to fit them both in more comfortably. They stayed like that for a while, enjoying the silence. Fred drew a hand over her shoulder lightly, checking that she was still awake. “So… how was it?”
“How was what?” (Y/N) whispered, eyes still closed.
“Y’know…” he replied softly, “meeting everyone.” He’d really hoped that this would go well.
“They’re great,” she said, reaching her hand behind her to stroke his, “I love ‘em.”
Fred released a breath that he hadn’t realised he’d been holding, bringing her closer and kissing her hair. “Good.” He couldn’t see her face from this angle, but he could tell she was almost asleep. He couldn’t possibly describe how he felt. In his childhood bedroom, bundled under the covers with the woman of his dreams; sure it was a little chilly, the wind would occasionally rattle the windows, and his twin’s snoring was becoming increasingly annoying, but he’d never felt so content. And he couldn’t wait to wake up on Christmas morning just like this, and spend the holiday with all of his family. (Y/N) included. And he hoped for the same thing for the next Christmas. And the one after that. And the one after that.
Summery: After drifting aimlessly and struggling with the aftermath of war, Remus finds an unexpected ally in a compassionate woman who sees beyond his scars. Through her unwavering kindness and the simple life, Remus maybe he deserves the similar things in life.

Remus Lupin never really believed in rock bottom. Everytime he thought he'd hit it he would fall harder and deeper than he ever thought possible.
After the war there was a long period of time he was drifting. Not necessarily liking the idea of staying in one place too long, not that he could if he tried. Most of the highlands were packed with nosey wizards and witches, his paranoia getting the best of him every time someone asked a bit too many questions, and then it was on to the next town.
It didn't help that no one was enthusiastic about hiring him after learning of his special requirements. He couldn't hold down a job let alone a stable place to stay, staying in the rougher bits of London and Scotland, too busy wallowing in grief to truly feel sorry for his situation.
His full moons were the worst of it. Without James, Peter, and Sirius, Moony reverted back to its most volatile form. His mental state didn't help much either. He had grown comfortable, complacent, with the nurture his friends provided him those nights. So much so he forgot what it was like to have battered and bruised skin. What the scars on his body felt like.
Everything was back to his normal.
Well, not everything. This was the first time he's woken up to the sight of a gun barrel in his face. His body throbbing and his leg caught in a snare. If he looked just past the barrel, he could see glimmering eyes. Fear. He was used to that look.
Though, he could argue he should be the fearful one, considering his lack of dress and immobile position. Bleeding and scared, with a women he's never seen before saying something his ringing ears couldn't quite comprehend.
Soon, his blood loss and blurry eyes made him unable to stay awake. The last thing he saw was a large white dog coming up to sniff his face.
~~~
It was soft, everywhere he turned. Like he was being held in a cloud, he was sure she must have shot him.
When his eyes opened he was greeted with a dim room. It was small, a cream off white with floral designs, it looked like his mother’s, truthfully. He tried to shift his leg only to notice a sizable weight, looking down to see a large white cattle dog, he couldn't quite place the breed immediately, but the moment he shifted it seemed to wake up. Staring at him in his very soul.
The large beast gave a low and steady grumble before he gave a few barks, something he didn't quite know how to place. He just sunk back into the soft plush bedding, giving a low sigh. “Bloody hell..” He mumbled and closed his eyes.
He was still in pain, a lot of it, and he could feel the throb of his injuries pulsing through his body. But there was also a strange sense of comfort in the softness of the bed and the warmth of the room. Even the soft smell of Shea butter and thick wool. It had been so long since he had felt anything remotely close to comfort that it almost seemed foreign to him. He almost convinced himself to fall right back asleep, screw the consequences.
The dog continued to bark, and soon after, Remus heard the soft patter of footsteps approaching. His instincts kicked in, and he tried to sit up, but his body protested vehemently. Leaving him to prop pathetically on his elbows.
As the door creaked open, he came to the conclusion that he was most certainly dead. And he guessed the muggles were right about God. Why else in Merlin’s name would an angel be stepping into this room? With a tray of food, no less.
Like that, the barking stopped. The dog satisfied he notified his master in time.
The woman who had been holding the gun stood in the doorway, looking significantly less threatening now. She had a cautious yet gentle expression, her eyes scanning Remus with a mix of curiosity and concern. Retracing his now bandaged chest and bruised skin, clicking her tongue before she walked over. Setting the tray down and picking up two pill bottles from the side of the bed.
"You're awake.” She assessed softly, her voice carrying a lilting accent that Remus recognized to be Scottish. "I wasn't sure if you'd make it through the night.”
Remus tried to respond, but his throat was dry and his voice came out as a weak croak. She poured a glass of water from the tray and handed it to him, with three pills in her palm.
He didn't think twice before he took them, his concern for his life had far since left his mind. He just felt.. safe.
As the cool water soothed his parched throat, Remus couldn't help but wonder who this woman was and why she was helping him. He hadn't known genuine kindness from anyone since he entered the war- everyone was a suspect until proven otherwise. He glanced around the room, taking in the subtle details- the worn but clean furniture, the soft light filtering through the curtains, and the faint smell of herbs mingling with the scent of the shea butter that he could now conclude came from you.
"Thank you.” He managed to say, his voice still weak but sincere. "For... everything."
The woman gave a small smile, though it didn't quite reach her eyes. "You're welcome. My name is {Y/N}." She hesitated for a moment before adding, "You're lucky I found you when I did. The Highlands aren't exactly the safest place for someone to be..” She gestured vaguely. “What were you up to? Naked forest dancing?”
Remus let out a weak, humorless chuckle at your comment. Despite the situation, he couldn't help but appreciate your attempt to lighten the mood. His muscles protested every small movement, but he managed to shift slightly, trying to get more comfortable.
"Something like that. I'm Remus.” He muttered, his voice still hoarse. He didn't dare dream of expressing the full length of his woes; the full moon, the transformation, the uncontrollable rage and pain. It was too much to burden you with, not to mention the rapid fire excuses he'd have to come up with. Still, he still felt horrid for lying, especially to someone as kind as you.
You seemed to sense his reluctance and didn't press further. Instead, you busied herself with adjusting the pillows behind his back, making sure he was as comfortable as possible. "Well, whatever it was, you're safe now.” You muttered gently. "You need rest and time to heal. Those pills should help with the pain and prevent any infection."
Remus nodded, grateful for your understanding. "Thank you, {Y/N}.” He repeated, feeling a warmth spread through him that had nothing to do with the cozy room or the medication. "I don't know how to repay you for this."
You waved off his gratitude with a dismissive huff before walking over to set up the simple bowl of oatmeal and apple slices you had managed in the kitchen.
“Seriously, I don't have much but-”
“Your money's no good here, I fear.” You remarked calmly and turned to face him as you handed him the bowl carefully, wrapped in an oven mitt so he wouldn't burn himself. “But your body is.”
Remus blinked, taken aback by the statement. He opened his mouth to respond, but you quickly clarified, sensing his alarm.
"Not in that way.” You quickly corrected with a soft laugh, the first sign of genuine amusement he'd seen from you. "I meant, it's coming up on winter. Once you get better, if you'd like to repay me, there are holes in the barn that need to be patched. There is wood to be collected, there is always work.”
Relief washed over him, and he nodded slowly, understanding the exchange you were offering. That was something he could do. Easily. "I can do that.” His voice was still weak but filled with sincerity. "I'm more than willing to help out."
You smiled, this time a bit more genuinely. "Good. We'll worry about that when you're back on your feet. For now, just focus on getting better." You placed the bowl of oatmeal and apple slices on his lap. "Eat up, you'll need your strength."
Remus took the bowl, feeling a deep sense of,, peace. It had been so long since anyone had shown him patience and kindness this real. He spooned some of the oatmeal into his mouth, savoring the warmth and simple flavor. It was raw. Something unfiltered and unprocessed. You had made these from scratch, while it wasn't impressive, it made the gesture all the more real to him.
As he ate, you busied yourself around the room, tidying up and making sure everything was in order. The large white dog, now lying by the foot of the bed, watched him with curious eyes.
"What’s his name?" Remus asked, nodding towards the dog.
"That's Hugo.” You hummed, a fond smile tugging at your lips. "He's a good boy. A fine worker, too. Found him as a pup wandering near the woods. Much like you, I suppose."
Remus chuckled softly, though it hurt his chest a bit. "Well, I'm glad he found his way to you. And I'm glad I did too."
You paused for a moment, looking at him with a studying looking in your eyes. "We all need a bit of help sometimes.” You said quietly. "No shame in that."
Remus nodded, feeling a lump form in his throat. For the first time in a long while, he felt a glimmer of hope. The care you had shown him was a balm to his weary soul, and he couldn't help but feel that perhaps, just maybe, things could get better from here.
As he finished his meal, he felt a wave of exhaustion washing over him again. The combination of the medication and the warm food was making it difficult to keep his eyes open. You seemed to notice and gently took the empty bowl from his hands.
"You should rest.” You said softly, but stern, placing the bowl back on the tray. "Sleep will help you heal faster."
Remus nodded, unable to argue with common sense. As he settled back into the pillows, he felt the soft weight of Hugo shifting in a commando crawl up to his side, offering him a sense of security and companionship. His heavy head resting on his chest.
"Thank you, {Y/N}, Hugo.” He murmured one last time, his voice trailing off as sleep began to claim him.
You watched as his eyes closed, a small smile playing on your lips. "You're welcome, Remus," you whispered, turning to leave the room. "Rest well."
As Remus drifted off into a deep, healing sleep, he couldn't help but feel that maybe, just maybe, he had found a place where he could finally stop destroying himself and start rebuilding.
~~~
The days turned into weeks, and Remus slowly but surely regained his strength. Each day, he marveled at the patience and empathy you and Hugo showed him. It was a simple life, far removed from the chaos and pain of his past, but it was exactly what he needed.
You never pried into his past, never asked questions, never pushed past what you needed to know in the moment. You hardly even acknowledged the night he showed up on your property. Instead, you offered gentle conversation, warm meals, and a quiet companionship that Remus found deeply comforting. In return, he began to help around the property as he had promised. Fixing the holes in the barn, chopping wood for the winter, and tending to any task you needed of him.
It was symbiotic. You got the help you needed, and he felt like he was contributing to something meaningful without the threat of being chased away.
As the weeks turned into a month, the next full moon loomed. Even as his irritation grew and his stomach sank with dread, you never said a word. You filled his plate, kept him busy with work on your land, and didn't question him when he took a stroll into the woods on the night of the full moon. Though you were a bit baffled when Hugo went with him.
That morning, you were on the porch waiting for him. You said nothing about his tattered clothes and suitcase, just welcomed him home with a warm smile.
It was more than he ever thought he'd deserve. You reminded him of nectar in the mornings and like fine wine most nights. As sweet as honey but as deep and rich as the most ancient oak, your presence grounded him in ways he hadn't thought possible. Each day with you was a melody, a harmony that soothed the tempest within him. He found himself looking forward to your soft laughter, the way your eyes sparkled with unspoken thoughts, and the gentle touch of your hand as you handed him a steaming cup of tea.
Your kindness wasn't just a balm for his physical wounds; it seeped into the deepest recesses of his heart, mending the fractures that years of pain and loss had wrought. He couldn't pinpoint the exact moment it happened, but somewhere between your shared meals and quiet evenings by the fireplace, he realized he was falling in love with you.
It wasn't a whirlwind or a blaze; it was a slow, steady burn that warmed him from the inside out. He cherished the simplicity of your life together, the unspoken understanding that passed between you, and the way Hugo seemed to understand it all, lying at your feet as if guarding this fragile, precious thing you were building together.
In those quiet moments, when the world outside seemed a distant memory, Remus realized he had found something he never thought possible: a home, a sanctuary, and he didn't dare hope for more.
Even as you sat on the small couch, in the simple living room. Knees tucked to your chest as you continued to fight with yourself.
“Writer's block?” He prodded as he walked over, sitting down in front of you. Your eyes flickered up to his, your expression still holding slight irritation. “You've been looking at that page for ages.”
“I have ideas.” You argued, looking back down at your pages with a huff. “Just not sure.. how to work them together.”
“Isn't that supposed to be the fun part?” He teased softly and that earned a playful glare form you. He flicked his hands up in defense, slowly smirking.
You managed a soft laugh, your irritation melting away under his gentle look. "Easy for you to say, you're not the one staring at a blank page.” You challenged, but there was no real bite to your words.
Remus leaned closer, peering at your notes with genuine curiosity. "Maybe you should write something else. Just for today. Heard it's supposed to help, yeah?”
You sighed, but there was a hint of a smile on your lips. "Alright, Mr. Lupin, what do you suggest I write about?"
“Maybe your affinity for strays?” He teased and that earned a belly laugh from you.
“Do you hear him, Hugo? He just called you a stray.” You smirked and Hugo gave a huff and a long sigh from were he laid on the floor by Remus’s feet.
“I meant the both of us, really.” He muttered, eyes drifting away. But he knew you knew that already. You would do anything to make him think he wasn't burdening you, but self doubt was his biggest flaw.
Your eyes softened that way that made him feel his stomach turn. Then, your lips turned upward, eyes sparking with amusement. “You make it sound like a talent.” You hummed before you leaned in a bit. “But I wouldn't call you a stray, Remus. You're no more a stray then Hugo.”
Remus felt his mouth go dry as he stared down at you, his heart pounding with an intensity that made his ribs feel bruised. The way your eyes seemed to look straight through him, seeing every hidden part of his soul, left him feeling exposed, yet desperate for the intimacy of it all. The air between you crackled with a palpable tension, each second stretching out as his expression turned thoughtful.
He watched as you slowly reached out, your fingers trembling slightly as they brushed against his arm. The contact sent a shiver down his spine, and he couldn't help but lean into your touch, his breath hitching.
“I mean it, Remus.” You whispered, your voice barely audible but the loudest thing he's ever heard.
He swallowed hard, his eyes never leaving yours as he nodded, inching closer. The space between you seemed to shrink and expand all at once, his movements hesitant yet driven by an undeniable force he couldn't fully understand.
“Yeah?” He whispered, his voice raw and almost pleading, his vulnerability never felt more purposeful.
“Yeah.” You affirmed without a moment's hesitation, your grip on his arm tightening as if to anchor him to your reality. A reality he wanted to understand more then anything. Your gentle loving reality, one that fooled him again and again into safeties he didn't think he deserved. “You're home, Remus.”
The words hung in the air, a lifeline he desperately needed. The tension between you reached a breaking point as you tilted your head. Every so slightly, your eyes lingering on his lips.
It wasn't long before his lips were on yours, not giving himself time to second guess it all. It was patient. It was sweet. It was ancient and timeless and yet as new as the flowers that were blooming just outside the door. Winter had come and gone and yet here he was, still demanding more of you. As he moved in closer, you felt the book fall against the ground. Not that you minded, it freed up your hands to slide along his chest.
He continued to test the waters, his hand coming up to cup your cheek and deepen the kiss. Affection you reciprocated easily. Just as hungry for it as he was. He couldn't find himself wondering if he should think it through. He didn't have much of a choice, the way your hands traveled up to his hair, the way you shifted your legs to make room for him.
“You're home, Remus.” You whispered again, much softer, in between the ever heating kisses. He pushed you fully on your back, his lips traveling the bare skin of your neck. His breath was warm against your skin, each kiss igniting a fire that spread through your veins. The words you had spoken echoed in his mind, grounding him in the moment, making everything feel more real and more impossible to resist. He whispered your name, a reverent prayer, as his hands explored the contours of your body, committing every inch to memory.
Your fingers tangled in his hair, pulling him closer, as if afraid he might disappear if you let go. The urgency of your kisses matched his own, a silent agreement that this was right were you both belonged.

The next morning, you woke up in your bed. Remus was hugging you from behind, his nose buried in your neck and still sound asleep.
The morning light filtered softly through the curtains, casting a gentle glow over the room. You felt the warmth of Remus's body against yours, his steady breathing a comforting rhythm that lulled you into a delightful peace. For a moment, you simply lay there, savoring the feeling of being so intimately connected to someone who had come to mean so much to you. Your heart ached with affection, selfishly hoping he'd wake up so you could stare into his lovely eyes again.
You shifted slightly, careful not to wake him despite yourself, and turned to gaze at his sleeping face. There was a peaceful calm there that you hadn't seen before, a loveliness that spoke of a man who had finally found a measure of peace. It made your heart swell with a mixture of love and protectiveness.
As if sensing your gaze, Remus stirred, his eyes slowly fluttering open. When he saw you looking at him, a soft smile curved his lips, and he tightened his hold on you, pulling you closer. Your eyes indulged in his own like it was sin.
"Good morning.” He murmured, his voice still thick with sleep.
"Good morning.” You whispered, your own smile mirroring his. "Did you sleep well?"
"Better than I have in years.” He admitted, his eyes searching yours for any sign of regret or hesitation. Finding none, he leaned in to press a gentle kiss to your forehead. "Thank you, {Y/N}."
"For what?" You asked, absolutely melting as he continued to trail kisses from your temple to your neck.
"For everything.” He sighed, his eyes filled with a depth of emotion that took your breath away. "For giving me a place to heal, for your patience, and for... well, for last night." He cheeked.
Your cheeks flushed at the memory of the previous night, but you couldn't help but smile, playfully glaring at him. "I should be the one thanking you, Remus. You've brought something into my life that I didn't even realize I was missing."
He looked at you with a mixture of surprise and gratitude, his fingers gently tracing the contours of your face. "I'm not easy.” He whispered.
“I've always been one for a challenge, Remus.” You whispered as he leaned down to bury his face into your neck. “Unfortunately, I find falling for you quite easy.”
He chuckled, the base in his voice bringing a shiver to your spine. “... I'm a lot of work.”
“You earn your keep, Remus.” You whispered softly and he slowly began to let his hands slip up to your waist, lowering himself to draw lazy kisses along your chest.
“You'll tire of me. When you know me.” He urged and you closed your eyes blissfully.
“Wouldn't dream of it.”
“You'll-” Before he could finish and fall deeper into his own self doubt, you covered his mouth. Cupping his jaw to pull him into another kiss. One he returned with full earnestness.
You broke the kiss and stared up at him with your doe eyes he almost caved.
“I'll love you, Remus. I do. I will. I'm not going to give up that easily,” You huffed. “No matter how much convincing you try to do.”
He stared at you a moment longer, leaning in and running his lips along yours. “It's rotten work.”
“I've never shied away from work.” You whispered and pulled him close. Letting him hide away from the world in your room. “I'm never going to shy away from you.”
Remus sighed deeply, the weight of his doubts lifting as he whispered, "Then I'll never let you go."
And in that shared promise, they found a peace that neither had ever dared to hope for.
@kpopgirlbtssvt thank you for requesting this. I'm so so sorry that it took this long my only excuse is that I started writing from when they met and then I got busy and forgot what I was doing so I made it way longer than it needed to be, but I've loved writing it and I just wanted to make it so good for you, so I really hope you like it honey :)
A/N: Hey hey!! So I know this is way overdue but thank you so much for waiting. I hope you don't mind but I made (Y/N) and engineering student at University because I thought it would make it easier for her to explain technology to Fred since she'd probably then have more of an idea about how that stuff works (also I have no idea what the course entails so if I've made any mistakes on the subject please forgive me). Again, I'm so sorry it's taken this long but thank you so much for your patience @kpopgirlbtssvt Anyway please enjoy :) [[bonus points to anyone who picks up the quote I twisted from one of my favourite movies]]

(Y/N) was walking through London, looking a little lost. Scratch that - she was lost. She had only been in England for a day and decided to go exploring (what a great idea that was), only she didn't have a map and she had no internet or data on her phone to find out where she was, which resulted in having to ask for directions. However, it would be more helpful if she knew where exactly she wanted to go. She rounded the corner of a building and found herself colliding with a slim get surprisingly muscular body.
"Oh-crap-I'm-so-sorry-I-wasn't-looking-where-I-was-going--" Said the person, holding her shoulders to steady her.
--"No no, it's fine, I really should've been paying attention." She replied, looking up to the stranger. He had a head of messy ginger hair sticking out in every direction, freckles dotted over his nose and cheeks and decorated his face, but his best feature was by far his honey-brown eyes. (Y/N) just couldn’t help but stare at the intricate patterns around his pupils that looked so bright up close.
Up close?!
Only now did she realise the very little distance between them. Taking a step back to compose herself, (Y/N) straightened herself out and cleared her throat. She looked back up to him to see he was already staring at her – with wide, unblinking eyes, and shallow, barely noticeable breaths.
Oh god – she broke him.
“Um… are you okay?” she asked warily; she didn’t know what to do in this sort of situation (it's not like she had a British hand-book of awkward moments).
He seemed to snap out of whatever kind of trance he was in, “O-oh! Yeah yeah I’m fine. I’m okay – I’m fine… er… ar-are you… uh… are you okay?”
She smiled at his stuttering; it was actually quite cute. “Yeah, I’m fine. Just a little lost.”
There was a silence between them, as if neither one really wanted to leave but didn’t know what to say, people who passed by them gave rude or enstranged looks – but they simply ignored it.
The man fixed his posture and carefully put out his hand. “I’m – er – Fred Weasley, by the way.” He introduced with a shy smile.
‘What a strange name’, she thought. She took his hand in hers and returned the action, “(Y/N) (Y/L/N).”
“(Y/N),” he repeated, trying out how her name felt on his lips, “well, (Y/N), since your lost and all, do you – er – would you want me to help you with getting… um… un-lost?”
“Well,” she laughed, “I’m not really sure where I wanna go.”
“Perfect! Does that mean I get to show you around? I’m a great tour guide, y’know?” fred beamed at her answer, clearly seeing his opportunity.
“Really? Are you sure? I wouldn’t wanna bother you.”
“It’s no bother,” Fred insisted politely, “really, it’d be my pleasure.”

Fred showed her around London a bit, obviously he didn’t show her everywhere – London is a pretty big city after all.
He took her to a nearby park after a couple of hours of touring around. It was a surprisingly nice day out – when (Y/N) was back home, she’d heard that England was always cold and rainy (which, according to Fred, wasn’t too far from the truth) – so they strolled around and got to know each other a little.
“So, where exactly are you from?” Fred questioned; it was pretty obvious from her accent that she wasn’t Brittish.
“(Y/S) [Your State], America.”
“Right,” he nodded, “yeah, I thought that but usually when I think someone’s American they end up being Canadian.”
“Well, people do sometimes end up being Canadian.” (Y/N) joked.
“So how come you’re in England?”
“Well, I’m starting a three-year engineering course at a University here. I could’ve stayed at home, but I wanted a change of scenery; do something new and out of my comfort zone, y’know?”
Fred nodded, “Oh cool, so I guess you’re gonna be stuck here for a while then.”
“I guess so.”
They roamed around for a little longer; the sky had turned a colourful mixture of vibrant orange and red, and the street lights had started to turn on.
“It’s getting a little late, should I – uh… walk you home?” Fred inquired, honestly though, he wouldn’t want her to walk home alone at night. Especially in mid-London; it just wouldn’t be safe for her.
(Y/N) nodded. “Yeah, okay. If we can find it that is.” She told him the address and followed him. She was a little surprised at how well he knew his way around; he explained that he likes to explore whenever he’s free.
They stopped at a tall building near a main road; the traffic wasn’t as bad as it was in the day, but Fred still took her hand and ran across with her.
Obviously, (Y/N) invited him inside – it might not really be a great idea to invite a stranger inside your apartment, but she felt they had gotten to know each other pretty well, besides, it was the least she could do for him after today. The walk up to her door was silent, but not uncomfortable. The elevator wasn’t working, so they had to climb five flights of stairs, and by the time they’d reached her apartment they had to stop for a moment to catch their breaths.
Unlocking her door, (Y/N) stepped aside and let Fred in. the door lead to a kitchen space with a small island table, to the left was a small living-room with a window looking out to the streets bellow, and to the right were three open doors: a bedroom, a bathroom, and a small storage closet. The rooms were quite plain: there were no blinds or drapes, the kitchen cupboards were empty, and the walls were bare. Different sizes of boxes were stacked up everywhere; lining the walls, taking up space and chairs – all labelled for different things.
(Y/N) closed the door and rushed to make some room and move some boxes. “Sorry about the mess,” she said, “I’ve just moved in today so I haven’t had a chance to put anything away yet.” She explained while lifting a large cardboard box labelled ‘Kitchen ‘ in black marker.
Fred laughed and shook his head, stuffing his hands in his pockets. “No need to worry, my place isn’t much better and I’ve been living there for years.” (Y/N) giggled at his response – which was a wonderful sound, in Fred’s opinion.
She opened the box and pulled out two mismatched mugs, putting them on the table.” I don’t have a lot in right now, but I did pick up some coffee and stuff – oh, and some ‘real Brittish tea’, apparently it’s different to how it is in the U.S. You want anything?” she asked, filling up the kettle and opening a box labelled ‘Tetley’s’.
Fred took a seat at the island, staring intently at the kettle and the wires coming from it. “Oh… y-yeah. I’ll have some tea if you’re making it.”
(Y/N) nodded and put the bags of tea in the mugs as the kettle clicks, and filled the cups with boiling hot water. She of course added sugar after Fred told her how many, and the milk, then handed them over – taking a seat next to him.
It was quiet for a moment, before Fred spoke up. “So… um… h-how does the kettle work… exactly?” He wasn’t sure if he should know this or not (she, of couse, thinks he’s a muggle like her).
(Y/N) paused for a moment and looked towards the kettle. “Er… well, the plug in the wall transfers electricity through the wire, then that heats up some metal in the plate thing under the kettle. Then that heats up the water, and when it starts boiling the switch flicks up and it stops the electricity. At least, I’m pretty sure that’s how it works.” She looked back at Fred to see him staring at the kettle, a mixed look of fascination and confusion crossing his face – she laughed at it; he looked so adorable in his child-like wonder. “Don’t you have a kettle at home?”
Taking a big gulp of tea – probably downing about half of the cup – Fred turned back to her, racking his brain for a believable excuse. “Well—er—yeah but… y’see, um—my parents’ house is really old-fashioned and they don’t have electricity – it’s a family house y’see. And… when I moved out, I got an old place too – so I don’t really know how this stuff works.” It wasn’t a complete lie, he just left out all the magic and wizards and stuff. "We heat ours over the fireplace."
“Oh?” (Y/N) was honestly quite shocked by this: now-a-days everyone has all kinds of technology, and Fred didn’t even know about the modern kettle! “Well that’s… unusual. But in a good way! It’s actually kinda… refreshing, I guess.”
They finished their drinks, enjoying more small-talk in the mean time, discussing everything amd anything that came to mind.
Eventually, they noticed the time was getting on for eleven, and Fred put down his empty mug and sighed. “I really should, I’ve got work in the morning and my brother won’t be too pleased if I’m half-asleep the whole time.” He looked at (Y/N) with disappointment; he seemed reluctant to go, but stood up anyway.
(Y/N) nodded and took the cups over to the sink, then faced him again. “Yeah, yeah of course. I should probably get to bed too… if I can find which box it’s in, that is.” She laughed awkwardly.
“Well… I-I’d… uh… I’d like to see you again though… sometime. Maybe I can… y’know, show you some more of the city tomorrow? Say… er... five-ish?” He stuttered as he nervously fidgeted with his fingers.
Smiling, (Y/N) nodded her response a little too eagerly. “Yeah, I’d like that.”
Fred beamed at her and ran a hand through his messy hair. “Right, yeah – cool. O-okay. I’ll meet you here then.”

Fred entered the shop quietly; he was sure George would be in bed by now – sleeping was like a hobby to him. He crept upstairs to their shared apartment, and hung his coat on the hanger – he didn’t need to turn the light on to know where everything was.
He was just about to walk up to their room, when the fire started and lights filled the room. Fred turned around to see his brother sat in an armchair, one leg crossed over the other, wand in hand, and an expectant look on his face.
Fred sighed and faced him, “Always one for dramatics, aren’t you Georgie?”
George stood up and crossed his arms. “So, where have you been? You left work, didn’t tell anyone where you was going, no note, no nothing! You—”
“You’re starting to sound like Mum, y’know that?” Fred snickered.
George huffed in annoyance, “Well?”
Fred went to a cupboard in the kitchen and took out a cookie jar, he grabbed three or four of Molly’s home-made chocolate chip cookies and sat by the fire. “I went for a walk ‘round London,” he started with a mouthful of food. “see what the muggles are up to, y’know?”
George sat back down in his chair and frowned, obviously not fully believing him. “It took you five and a half hours to ‘see what the muggles are up to’?”
“Actually, it took me four and a half hours. Took me about an hour to walk back.” Fred replied, taking another bite of his cookie.
“Fred, don’t be dim, just tell me!” George complained – he was so nosy it was unbelievable.
Fred stuffed the third cookie in his mouth (yes, the whole thing) and let out a few muffled sounds that could be words, but sounded more like he was speaking through a pillow.
“What?”
More muffled sounds.
“Fred!”
He swallowed the contents of his mouth and sighed. “I bumped into someone.”
George frowned again, a little confused by his twin’s answer. “What, like someone we know?” Fred shook his head. “Sooo… you met someone?” Fred nodded, not making eye contact with his brother. “So… you met a person, and spent all day – and night – with said person… then you come home, and just don’t want to talk about it?!”
“Merlin George, yes that’s what happened. So now I’m going to bed because it’s really late and we’re working tomorrow so—“
“Nope!” George exclaimed, grabbing his twin’s shoulders to push him back into his seat. “Absolutely not! I wanna hear all about your little adventure in the muggle world and this amazing person you met!”
So, to put it basically, the twins stayed up all night talking about Fred’s trip and all about (Y/N). And by the time they got to bed, George would pop up with new questions every few minutes – resulting in Fred throwing whatever he could grab to throw at him.
But all Fred could think about was where he was going to take (Y/N) tomorrow.

It had been a month since (Y/N) moved to England, and so far she had found a part time job, which would be able to work around her University hours. She’d also fixed up her apartment, the fridge was fully stocked, and the T.V. was in. Her bedroom looked great too – she was actually starting to feel like a real ‘grown up' now.
Today was going to be her first day at the University; she only had to go Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, which worked out well since she worked Tuesday afternoons (when she had a morning class), Wednesdays, and Fridays – so she had the weekends off for homework and other stuff.
And by ‘other stuff’ she would most likely be hanging out with Fred. They spent a lot of time together, and he was basically her only friend here (that she didn’t work with).
Speaking of Fred, he was supposed to meet her outside in a few minutes; he told her that he wanted to walk her there for her first day.
Y/N) threw on her jacket and grabbed her bag, locking the door behind her as she left. She walked out to the busy path and looked for her friend – who was absolutely nowhere. Perfect.
She was about to leave when two hands slowly wrapped around her eyes. “Don’t scream,” said the voice in a ridiculously low tone.
(Y/N) only laughed at it. “Fred, you better not be smudging my makeup right now.”
He laughed and walked in front of her. “How’d you know it was me and not some psycho trying to kidnap you?”
She raised an eyebrow at his words. “That was the worst fake voice I’ve ever heard.”
Fred gasped dramatically and put his hand to his chest. “Oh, (Y/N), how you wound me! Such pain! Such betrayal!”
(Y/N) burst into fits of laughter, Fred soon following. “Calm down, Shakespeare. Now, we’ve gotta get going or I’m gonna be late for my first day!” She grabbed his hand and ran across the road (which resulted in a five minute lecture about road safety from Fred), and headed to the University – which was a thirty minute walk. Sure, she could’ve taken a taxi, which would save about maybe fifteen minutes, but then she’d have to deal with traffic (and she’d have to pay with her hard-earned money!).
As they reached the entrance to the correct building, (Y/N) stopped abruptly. Fred turned to her worriedly, but soon realised the problem. “(Y/N)? you alright?” He asked, putting a hand on her shoulder.
She snapped her head back to him and nodded. “Wha- yea-yeah! I’m fine! I’m great actually! I’m totally completely great!” She said – her voice a little too high to sound like the truth.
Fred moved his arm across both of her shoulders to give her a side-hug. “(Y/N//N), love, you’re gonna be fine! Don’t be so nervous, you’ll probably have loads of fun. You’ll go in there and meet some people and learn some stuff – might even make a few friends. As long as you don’t replace me though.” He said in a reassuring tone.
“But what if I don’t? what if I’m just... like... the weird American girl with no friends? What if they start asking questions that I don’t know the answers to? What if—"
“Okay,” Fred interrupted, holding a hand up to cut her off, “I’m gonna stop you there before you get yourself all worked up. First of all, I find your American-ness – shush, we’re pretending it’s a word – endearing. Second, I’m sure you’re going to make plenty of friends, maybe not on the first day – but you will. And third, I know plenty about not knowing the answers to stuff – school wasn’t always my strong spot. Just take a guess at something that could be the answer and if it is wrong – which it probably won’t be ‘cause you’re really smart – just play it off like you just forgot. So, stop freaking out, you’re gonna be great! And I’ll meet you here at four so you can tell me all about it. Okay?”
(Y/N) smiled at him and nodded. He was so supportive and she was so grateful, she honestly couldn’t thank him enough for being so amazing. He did so much for her just by being in her company; all the walks they took on their lunch breaks, and the movie nights where she had to explain everything to him because he’d not seen so many, and the dinners he prepared when she was too tired (she still had no idea how he cooked it, since he couldn’t even figure out the stove). He’d done so much for her in the little time she’d been here, she had no clue how to make it up to him.
She reached up and wrapped her arms around his neck (standing on her toes because Fred is pretty frickin’ tall), (Y/N) squeezed him tight as he wrapped his arms around her waist. He held her just as tightly; partly to calm her down, but also because he liked how close they were.
“Thanks, Fred.” She mumbled into his neck, giving him one last squeeze before pulling away.
