Like... Tousei's past and how his mum was eaten by an Inga Horror and butchers all and him thinking, hey... this is ticket to get strong. Rather unfortunate to have 'this' side of the Kaneshiro family having access to Makai Priest clans nifty trinkets.

Also the back story of Sonshi, Burai, Hakana, Rian's dad and aunt! So there was a deeper reason as to why the Madou Horrors somehow after being slain managed to cause such reaction to Garo armors. Since originally they DID intentionally tried to infuse more power onto the Madou Plant seeds so that when the MH were created and slain by Garo, it would react with Garo armor and somehow restore its brilliance! (Risky move... yeah.)

This is why Burai pulled all those strings to force Ryuga to come to VolCity. It'd do no good if other knights did the job instead of Garo. (Yes, forced. Recall how reluctant Ryuga had been in the past to being made to work under Burai's command again)

And we also had that needed back story on why Ryuga was so against Burai, he blamed Burai for not protecting his mother and let her die. This also explain later on how Ryuga appear to be lacking in training.

Also ooooh! Sonshi was a knight! But turned MH by Tousei; who... during the ceremony to create the powered up Madou Plant seeds cockblocked in the middle and screwed everyone over. Taking Sonshi and Hakana away.

And then while all these sob stories were being told... you see these two kids at the sides CRYING... WOI! You guys supposed to be part of the hero team as well... orz. Random gag...

Then there's also the explanation as to why the 'goddess' song somehow still doing its work sealing Zedom and other horror activities (partially... but the Ingas still have half the power they usually have) and on some other days... powered up the MH's abilities. It's so that they became powerful and sped up the restoration of Garo's brilliance!

Also finally, the restoration of Ryuga's sight. Oh. Was hoping it would last longer... the blindness. But at least it's not a cheap fix. Hakana trading her own sight to restore Ryuga's is a good tradeoff. Since they do need to save Rian ASAP. You can't be blind swordmaster overnight after all. And even before this with his sight on, Ryuga's not really that master of a swordsman. He'd need that sight to fight Zedom so that's good.
