ok nandor being sooooo respectful of the sanctity of marriage he essentially murders his only remaining wife IS hilarious, but THAT DIDN'T HAVE TO MEAN WHAT IT DID.
WHY NOT A BODYSWAP. FREDDIE'S PERSONALITY IN MARWA'S BODY + VICE VERSA. basically, marwa with guillermo, and freddie with nandor. can you IMAGINE
OR HE MARRIES FREDDIE. (for bonus shenanigans, technically respecting consent: via some miscommunications and double entendre, he becomes married to freddie according to some obscure ancient customs that freddie could realistically, unknowingly fulfill. this could still include freddie knowingly cheating, ofc, if that's something we need)
HE OBVIOUSLY HAS NO PROBLEM WITH POLYGAMY. FFS
i do get that this episode wasn't going to be what the fandom wanted exactly, and i do get establishing that they're horrible people and all, but there's plenty of ways to do that w/out... this. i'd be happy w/WORSE, vis a vis how the characters end up. tho worth noting - just bc these characters try to do something horrible doesn't mean it has to WORK. like nandor could straight up try to murder marwa (wouldn't be surprised if his marital vows didn't explicitly prohibit that) and she can SURVIVE. (also, why is she boring in such a generic way? what happened to "what he likes, i like"? we literally see two clones get together, there's no way the comparison isn't meant to be made, and they made the joke there they should've made here! - 'i couldn't put it down' 'i know what you mean, i couldn't put it down' 'i know what you mean-' putting literally everything else aside, this is ITSELF boring. it's like nothing is built on anything else, episode to episode, and overall, the episode itself isn't so excellent as to work as a stand alone, comedically. why would you not take advantage of a season of build up. you can't just throw some shit at the wall and call it subversion)
this could retroactively be justified, ofc, by some twist i don't see coming. at this point, i don't see how that could be, by anything less than some djinn trickery (the real marwa is on an island somewhere, etc) or some major thematic cohesion. the only real problem i have is that they literally got rid of the only woc*
[*as far as ik, while nadja the character is romani, the actress portraying her is not, so i'm not really counting that]
