Personal Russian History fact: the Seige of Leningrad was the largest and arguably deadliest seige during WW2, where Greman forces cut off supplies and recources from the city and essentially starved out the citizens over 900 days, casualties reaching over 800,000. My great grandma was killed there, but my grandma (as a child) managed to escape because she was snuck out in a cart with as many other children as they could fit there, I believe a practice adults tried to do as many times as possible. Kinda fucks me up to consider that I wouldn't exist if she hadn't escaped
first cousins aside, would you say your family is big (extended family too)?
I honestly have no idea... I know of 3 second cousins and I have a half brother, but I'd have to check our family tree for more.
It's very possible that we have family in Denmark and the Netherlands, possibly very very distant relatives in the U.S. because of certain circumstances in German history đđđ đ
But I don't know much about our extended family because my grandparents (on both sides) were too young to actually realise what was going on and where their uncles, aunts and grandparents went before and during WW2, or they weren't born until after the war đ¤
2021 sounds like a super high tech and great year but here i am, sitting behind my desk full of rat shit, in the house that was probably built around ww2 and could possibly be older than my country's own independence
