When watching series 2 of Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends, I find the run of episodes from The Diseasel to Thomas & the Missing Christmas Tree to be my favourite part. This run comprises of The Diseasel, Wrong Road, Edward's Exploit, Ghost Train, Woolly Bear and Thomas & the Missing Christmas Tree. I suppose a factor could be because they were adapted from stories in later Railway Series books, when Awdry was at the peak of his game. The TV adaptations were well done too, especially Ghost Train.
“Most of us don’t realize we’ve taken the wrong road until it dead ends. And there’s no room to turn around. And the wheels fall off.”
Gordon still believes that BoCo saved his life, but we know the twins were only teasing, don't we?
"I AM Gordon! Stop! Stop!"

Off the Rails, Wrong Road and Gordon & the Famous Visitor are great Gordon episodes since they establish the classic "Gordon behaves like a pompous fool and it blows up in his face" formula. The two former episodes also have Ringo Starr doing a great job of voicing Gordon ranting and moaning, which is always funny.
He couldn’t help but think about how one of the things that led them down the wrong road was being kicked out of school. School might’ve been the formula to create a continual function, a life drawn without interruption. Calculus. Or to Miles’s father and his friends, basic arithmetic.

Bill: “What's that?"
Ben: "Shh! It's Gordon!"
[They're looking at Max Tennyson]
Bill: "It looks like Gordon, but it can't be. Gordon never comes on the branch lines, he thinks them vulgar!"
[Max Tennyson rolls his eyes in disgust]
Ben: "If it isn't Gordon, it's just a pile of old iron."
Bill: "Which we better take to the scrapyard!"
Ben: "No Bill, this lot's useless for scrap! We'll take it to the harbour and dump it in the sea!"
[Max Tennyson angrily turns to Bill and Ben]
Max Tennyson: "You idiots!!! How dare you call me old iron! You will hear from my lawyer!”
