#it really is wild how literary poets in the last century have essentially killed the general popularity of non-musical poetry#by primarily writing confessional free ‘verse’ poems#which let’s face it are missing out on the fun aspects of poetry that people used to enjoy#I’m not personally that into rap#but at least many rappers aren’t afraid of form and meter#I think part of the problem is the romanticization of the ‘inspired’ poet#leading people who#want to write poetry to think that they should ‘just’ speak from the heart and not let ‘artificial’ forms get in their way#ignoring that verse writing is an art like any other which can be learned#if they don’t like that then they should just be honest with themselves and weits prose#write*#anyway that’s enough kicking the hornet’s nest for today
