i haven’t read the comics BUT wreck-gar in g1 did have some kind of girlfriend ? named nancy and it was classic “we cant let the robots be gay so throw a Girl in there” 80s bs so i like that they were like “yes wreck-gar can have a wife but she has to be a million times cooler than him” and gave her her own motivations and stuff !!
for a tfa version of rum-maj i like that tfa like... reimagines their characters while kind of keeping an important core so i think keeping rum-maj as sort of a more intense, more outwardly-- sometimes scarily-- calm & grim character (vs goofy, bubbly wreck-gar) would be really cool and interesting ! in my head she’d appear first as an antagonistic figure but she’s not a bad guy, really. circumstances have just pushed her into a very “eat or be eaten” kind of mindset.. i also thing in tfa she’d be a bit more green and inexperienced-- she doesn’t have the lifetimes of knowledge and experience of a leader comics rum-maj had, so sometimes she can get a bit overconfident and big for her britches and get so focused on the big picture so fails to realize when little things are getting in her way.. i also think her being sort of Fresh at being leader makes the sting of losing junk (as its called in tfa.. i know the almanac says its fine but do you think theyve been checking on fringe planets that just barely bump up against the commonwealth ? No) and all the inhabitants sting even more .... barely got her feet under her and she already failed in about the worst way you can fail. that sucks rum-maj :[
