I love the conversation between Ollistra and (what I assume is the real) Romana at the start so much! I could listen to those 4 minutes on repeat. I have, in fact.
It makes me wonder how often Ollistra stops by. If, by this point, she’s already copied her before.
And how much Romana really knows about what’s going on outside. She claims she reads all the reports but then asks about Leela sounding genuinely concerned which makes me think that the files that are given to her are filtered/censored. Leela is being used as a hostage to keep her in line, just as the reverse.

Romana dying in Leela’s arms, even if she wasn’t real… and yet it felt real. They both experienced it.
“What distress call?” - The fact that Ollistra didn’t know about that, paired with real!Romana’s warning not to underestimate her in the opening scene makes me think that she’d been planning her own escape all along that got unknowingly hijacked by Ollistra’s fake!Romana ploy. Another interesting possibility would be that the distress call was placed after the events of Hope but was sent back in time. That would have the implication that Romana either wasn’t fully aware that what she experienced as a nightmare actually happened to Leela, or that she knew fully well that this rescue attempt would fail but felt like she had to send the message anyway so the events that had already happened could be set in motion (or, perhaps, it wasn’t her at all but Ollistra, faking the message in retrospect now that she knew about it).
