Wounded Amazon (1904, oil on canvas) | Franz von Stuck
AMAZZONE FERITA | Wounded Amazon: I've always wondered what some copies [of the copy, though not all] of this particular sculpture model, following Greek Sculptor Kresilas [and Roman Sculptor Sosicles after him], might be pointing at.. It seems that in this case, the index finger is clearly directed toward something [yet bearing in mind that the left hand is a later restoration]. Any hypotheses?
Roman copy signed by Sosicles [2 AD] after the original type attributed to Kresilas [5 BC] Sosicles : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sosicles_(sculptor) Kresilas : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kresilas From Villa d'Este, Tivoli, Lazio 2 AD.

Okay so @thefearofcod sent me pictures the other day of a statue at the Met. It's called "Wounded Amazon" and I love it. This statue means a lot to me. Why? Look:
Her feet are big. Her shoulders are sorta broad. Her hips look a little square. Her build in general looks like mine. I'm not trying to claim anything about the sculptors intentions, save that I'm guessing their model was what we would think of either as an AMAB body or as an intersex person; I have no idea what gender was like in that time period, so that's the best I can do. At the end of the day, though, she looks trans.
She looks like me.
I am an amazon.
Wounded Amazon
Roman. 1st–2nd century A.D.
In Greek art, the Amazons, a mythical race of warrior women from Asia Minor, were often depicted battling such heroes as Herakles, Achilles, and Theseus.
This statue represents a refugee from battle who has lost her weapons and bleeds from a wound under her right breast. Her chiton is unfastened at one shoulder and belted at the waist with a makeshift bit of bridle from her horse.
