that makes a huge amount of sense and i really admire how self-aware you are about it, that's the first major step to figuring out how to fight all those messages (and i struggle with some of them myself).
Oh, I’m definitely not as on top of this as you might think I am. I started replying to this post a little bit after midnight (the tags actually still say “tonight”), saved it in drafts, then stared at it for hours and rewrote it several times. Around 9 am I just gave up and finally posted the thing. My thoughts and feelings about all those things are a jumbled mess, they still are. Writing them down helped a lot, but I’m gonna be thinking about this for a while.
I have no doubt these struggles will resonate with a lot of women, Filipina or not. It’s just really good when we can actually talk about it because it feels a little more manageable and less overwhelming.
