Summary: Sometimes Phil’s clumsiness worries Dan more than it entertains him.
Phil had managed to unintentionally injure himself once again.
Today had been an unplanned cleaning day. Upon going into the bathroom for a shower in the morning, Phil had become aware of how messy it was starting to get. Queue the start of him cleaning the cluttered sink area, then the shower itself, and finally the toilet.
But since that had got him into a cleaning mood, he didn’t stop there. A freshly awaken Dan had found him thirty minutes later in the kitchen, busily cleaning out all of the cabinets and dusting off the mugs and dishes.
“We didn’t plan for this to be a cleaning day…” Dan finally said after a full awkward minute of him watching Phil clean.
“I know, I just got into the mood I guess,” Phil told him. “You don’t have to help today.”
“Good, because I’m starving,” Dan replied, relieved. Cleaning was not something he’d had planned on his agenda today. He walked over to the counter to retrieve his cereal, grinning when Phil passed him a bowl that he had just wiped down. “You’re such a housewife sometimes. It’s kinda sexy.”
The older youtuber laughed. “You go on cleaning sprees too. Besides, what if a friend or someone decides to visit on a whim?”
Dan shrugged. “Well, I’ll just leave you to it. Don’t clean all day, I want someone to cuddle and play video games with.”
Phil smiled. “Alright. I’ll join you after I do some laundry.”
This was when things went from good to bad. Phil had gone around his room and collected the massive pile of laundry that had formed throughout the past few weeks. After getting a good armful of clothes, Phil began to make his way to the washer.
...And then promptly tripped over his bedroom door frame.
The clothes flew from his arms as he made a harsh impact with the carpet in the hallway. Landing face first on the floor, Phil felt a sharp pain in his mouth from the impact causing his lip to be bitten. He instantly tasted something copper.
“Phil, are you okay, I heard- bloody fuck!”
Dan was alarmed as he saw Phil laying down on the floor with a good amount of blood trickling from his lips and down his chin.
“Dan?” Phil looked scared. “Am I bleeding? How bad is it?”
“Shit, just- don’t move Phil!” Dan ordered, and left the room to get paper towels. When he returned Phil was sitting up in the hallway still looking quite dazed and frightened. He was covering his mouth with his hand in an attempt to stop the stinging pain.
Dan pulled Phil’s hand aside, and the black haired youtuber’s eyes widened when he noticed his hand was stained with blood. Before he had time to panic, Dan was grabbing his face in order to assess the damage.
“You have to be more careful Phil,” Dan stressed. “Jeezus, there’s so much blood. I don’t think you chipped any teeth, but your lip is cut pretty bad.”
Phil would have responded, but Dan shoved a wad of paper towels into his mouth in an attempt to staunch the blood flow. They sat there for a few minutes, Phil miserable and teary eyed, and Dan focused on the task at hand.
“The bleeding has mostly stopped,” Dan finally announced. “But it looks swollen. We need to ice it.”
Phil finally managed a shaky laugh. “When did you become such an expert in first aid?”
“It’s sort of a necessity when living with you. Come on baby,” Dan replied, taking Phil by the hand and leading him into the lounge. He returned a moment later with an icepack, a wet washcloth, and a cup of water.
“This should help wash away the taste of blood,” Dan said as he passed him the water. Phil gratefully took a mouthful, wincing as the inside of his lip stung a bit from it. When he was done, Dan tenderly used the washcloth to clean the blood from Phil’s face and hands.
Finally Phil was able to lay his head in Dan’s lap while the younger boy held the ice pack to his mouth for him, also running his hand repeatedly through Phil’s hair. He felt both the panic and pain slowly leave him.
Dan sighed. “I’d ask you not to scare me like that again, but I know it’s just inevitable.”
“I don’t feel like cleaning anymore,” Phil said, sounding so small and sad that it was more comical than heart breaking.
“Good, because you’re going to rest right here while I continue my game of Skyrim,” Dan told him rather matter-of-factly.
About an hour later, Dan no longer feared for Phil’s life so be began to see humor in the incident, which of course meant he needed to tweet about it.
Danisnotonfire: had to save @AmazingPhil this morning after he fell on his face and bled everywhere. he is the most clumsiest person on this planet honestly it worries me.
AmazingPhil: @Danisnotonfire I’m too nervous to check the hallway and see how much blood I’ve lost.
The responses from their fans were all pretty hilarious to read, all telling Phil to be more careful and not to scare Dan, or just finding the situation completely hilarious. The swelling in Phil’s lower lip had gone down a lot from the ice, but it still looked painful.
Phil had changed into his green comfort hoodie and cookie monster pajama bottoms, still looking quite pitiful despite being pretty much over the situation and now trying to beat his high score in Crossy Road. Dan was about to kiss him on the lips but thought better of it and pecked him on the nose.
“Feeling better?”
“I don’t think I’m on my death bed anymore,” Phil told him, grinning but then wincing a little. “I was going to do a live show tonight, but I don’t really want to anymore.”
“Just tell them you’re still recovering from your near death experience,” Dan suggested. “But it isn’t even noon yet, you might change your mind tonight.”
Phil’s mind had stayed set though. He spent the remainder of the day cuddling with Dan, watching anime, and playing Mario Kart. He could tell that his accident had worried Dan, as all day the brown eyed boy had given him face kisses, tight hugs, and basically waited on him hand and foot. Phil allowed himself to be coddled, because honestly he was still a bit freaked out from the incident.
Later that evening when he went towards his room, Phil smiled to see all traces of blood gone and the clothes cleared from the floor.
Summary: Dan loses Phil at Disney World and goes on a wild goose chase to find him. Humorous fluff, featuring Louise!
“We have to do something! You don’t know Phil like I do...he’ll probably meet some really creepy weirdos, or walk into a dangerous zone and get decapitated by a roller coaster, or get kidnapped by a crazy fan. Anything could happen Louise, anything!”
“Okay, right, calm down!” Louise ordered, although she looked quite panicked herself. “He can’t have gone far.”
It was very hard to calm down. Dan was panicking for a very good reason. He had lost track of Phil, at a theme park in a foreign country, on a very hot and crowded day. This was not how he pictured their second to last day in America as. Louise, Zoe, and Alfie had invited he and Phil to celebrate the end of Playlist by going to Disney World.
The first part of the day had gone by smoothly, and everyone had a good time. However as they walked through a largely crowded Magic Kingdom, it was discovered that they had lost Phil in the swarm of people while walking towards their next designated ride.
This was a big problem. One, they couldn’t use cell phones with being in a different country and all that, and Phil hadn’t even brought his phone with him. Secondly, this was Phil. Something was bound to happen. Dan’s mind thought of all kinds of different scenarios.
“Let’s split up and look for him,” Zoe suggested. “Alfie and I will go ahead, and you and Louise backtrack. We meet back here in fifteen minutes.”
It was agreed, and they split into pairs. Louise pulled up a picture of Phil on her phone and ran up to every Disney character that crossed their path.
“Have you seen this boy?!” She asked Minnie Mouse wildly, cutting in front of the line of pesky children. Minnie backed away from the “crazy woman” and shook her head. Louise moved on to Chip and Dale. Dan meanwhile, searched every face that his eyes laid upon, but there was still no sign of his boyfriend.
Dan was miserable. “What happens if we can’t find him Louise?”
“Well,” The blonde youtuber thought. “Once in the super market I lost track of Darcy. I nearly vomited everywhere out of panic. Just as I was running to customer services to get help, I found her in the sweets isle.”
“Where would Phil go?” Dan asked to himself. Before he could start thinking, he and Louise were interrupted.
“Oh my God, it’s Danisnotonfire and SprinkleofGlitter!” A teenage girl with blonde streaks and thick glasses holding a massive corndog was beaming at them excitedly. “I’m so lucky, I just ran into AmazingPhil a few minutes ago! Why isn’t he with you? He looked sort of lost and confused. Hey, can I get a picture?”
“Wait, what?” Dan gripped the fangirl’s arm hard enough to leave a white mark. “Where did you see Phil? Tell me!”
The girl looked like she was about to hyperventilate from being touched by a hot British youtuber. Louise gently pulled Dan off of her before the poor girl could pass out.
“I saw him by the Haunted Mansion,” The girl pulled out her phone to show them a picture. “See?”
Sure enough, there was a selfie picture of the girl and Phil. The black haired youtuber looked like he was forcefully smiling, and Dan could tell by his eyes that he was obviously panicked.
“What a smart boy,” Louise beamed. “Going back to the ride we were last on.”
Dan grew excited. “We have to get there!”
“Hey wait, what about my picture?” The girl complained. Since she had just given them Phil’s location they could hardly refuse her. After some quick pictures were taken, it was time to find their missing group member.
“We need to meet back up with Zoe and Alfie,” Louise informed him. “It’s been almost twenty minutes.”
Dan contemplated this. “You go get them. We’ll all meet up at the Haunted Mansion again.”
Louise didn’t look too happy about leaving Dan to himself, but they went their separate ways. Dan all but ran to the ride. When he got there, he stood awkwardly by the entrance looking around. This went on for several minutes, but there was no sign of Phil.
“Hey you!” A rather aggressive voice startled him. “Stop standing around staring at people. You’re just like that other guy I had to send away.”
“Other guy?” Dan spun around to face the irritated security guard. He quickly pulled out his phone and brought up a picture of Phil. “Did he look like this?”
“Hmm?” The man studied the picture. “As a matter of fact he did! A friend of yours?”
“Yes!” Dan told him. “He’s lost and we’re trying to find him. Which direction did he go to?”
“Erm, I think that way,” The man jerked his thumb towards Fantasy Land. “Wow, I feel sort of bad now.”
Without thinking, Dan took off towards that section of the park. He got towards a food court area, and something colorful caught his eye. It was a familiar space jacket hanging off the back of an empty chair. Running towards it, Dan checked the inside tag and found Phil’s name written on the inside.
“Excuse me,” He tapped the shoulder of a skinny woman texting on her phone while her two children sat beside her eating fries. “Did you happen to see somebody sitting there?”
“Why yes, a sweet young man,” The woman said, looking up to meet his eyes. “He looked hot in that jacket. That’s probably why he left it here. Honestly, bringing a jacket to Florida...”
“He wears that bloody thing everywhere,” Dan muttered to himself and then asked louder, “Do you know where he went by any chance?”
“Splash Mountain,” The woman answered automatically. “I was the one to suggest it. He looked like he needed cooling off.”
Dan cursed to himself. That was all the way in the opposite direction. But he still took off, grabbing the space jacket to carry with him. He was beginning to get desperate. It took several minutes to get to the log flume ride. Louise and the others were probably worried sick about him now as well. It looked like he and Phil were both lost. Dan waited at Splashed Mountain for ages it seemed like, by the exit of the ride.
When it was clear that Phil was nowhere to be found, the brown eyes youtuber felt exhausted and hopeless. All he wanted to do was go back to the hotel room, get away from all of these people, and cuddle with his favorite person. Tears began to well up in his eyes. Soon the sun would begin to go down, and then what would happen?
Twenty minutes and still no Phil later, Dan was on the verge of giving up. He found himself wandering aimlessly around the park, looking for any familiar face. Twilight was now approaching. When he came upon the large Cinderella castle, he walked towards it without thinking.
It was the best subconscious decision he had ever made.
“Dan!”
He was tacked by somebody, and a familiar smell and feel brought Dan back to his senses.
“P-Phil?” He asked in disbelief as he was crushed tightly.
“It was horrible,” Phil responded. “We were all together and then suddenly I found myself alone! I went back to the Haunted Mansion but a scary man forced me away, and then I decided to wait at this cute little cafe but it got so hot so I went to Splash Mountain, and then I just wandered around for an hour looking for you! Plus I met this weird girl with a corn dog…she wanted me to take a bite of it.”
Dan felt himself melt with relief and he squeezed back tightly, running his hand through Phil’s soft black hair. “It’s all over now Phil. I’ve had enough Disney. Let’s find the others and go home….well, to our hotel I mean.”
“Okay,” Phil agreed readily. “Oh hey, you found my jacket! I thought I’d lost it forever!”
Dan handed it back to him, and Phil smiled.
“Let’s cuddle all night when we get back, okay Dan?”
The younger boy grinned. Two great minds thought alike.
“Of course,” He replied.
“DANIEL JAMES HOWELL!” Louise’s voice suddenly shrieked from behind them. “You had me worried sick! We were supposed to meet up at the Haunted Mansion and look for Phil together! How dare you wander off! You can be just as unreliable by yourself as Phil....oh, Phil! Hello love, we’ve been looking all over for you.”
“Hi Louise,” Phil smiled as she crushed both of them into a hug before inspecting them for any signs of trauma or injury.
“Now, Zoe and Alfie are just across there getting some food. As soon as they’re done, we’re going back.”
Nothing had ever sounded so relieving.
The next morning, Cat texted to see if they wanted to go to Epcot.
Phil hoped she would understand as he ignored the text and clung onto a sleeping Dan tighter.
Summary: Dan can’t help but think that Phil is hiding something from him. When he notices how sneezy and wheezy Phil suddenly is, things become clear to Dan. His boyfriend is harboring a cat in their home.
Dan couldn’t help but think that Phil was hiding something from him. Ever since the start of yesterday, the older boy had refused to make eye contact with him. When Dan had asked him if he was alright, he had responded with a high pitched, “Everything’s fine!”
Phil had also been spending a lot of time in his room this weekend, strangely refusing to allow his boyfriend entrance. They had even slept in Dan’s room last night, which was weird because it was sort of a mutual agreement that Phil’s bed was the comfier one. Anytime Dan tried to question him, Phil would get all panicky and say it was for a secret video.
The first twenty four hours were the most confusing. After that, Dan slowly started to put things together. The first clue was when Phil seemed to have an increasing amount of sneezes. His voice sounded congested and stuffy, and he kept rubbing at his eyes, which were slightly red. He was also coughing, although it sounded almost like mild wheezing at times.
“Phil, have you been anywhere unusual lately?” Dan asked casually Sunday morning as they sat at the table with breakfast, watching carefully when the blue eyed youtuber choked on his coffee.
“Of course not, where would you get that idea?” He asked, before his eyes widened and he sneezed loudly.
“Well,” Dan said, leaning forward and resting his elbows on the table. “You seem to be showing signs of your allergy to cats. But we both know that you haven’t been out of the house all weekend.”
Phil’s already flushed cheeks grew bright red, and he clasped his hands together nervously as he fidgeted in his seat. “It’s only a little cold Dan…”
“It isn’t a cold,” Dan replied. “I know you well enough to tell the difference between your colds and your allergies Phil.”
Phil stared at him, thinking for awhile before responding quietly, “No you don’t.”
Dan raised an eyebrow and started to stand. “So you wont mind me going into your room then?”
“No!” Phil pushed his chair back violently and stood, almost knocking his mug over.
“For christ’s sake Phil, I know you’re hiding a cat in your room!” Dan shouted impatiently. “I’m not stupid. What the hell are you thinking?”
Now that the cat was out of the bag so to speak, Phil knew he was caught. His already sensitive eyes welled up with tears and he grabbed his boyfriend’s arm.
“Please Dan, I had to save her! She was all by herself in the alley beside our apartment, in a cold damp little box! She kept crying, and it was so cold outside! I was going to take her to the shelter, honest! I just wanted to give her love and let her rest for a few days!”
Dan wasn’t really sure what to do. They would obviously have to get rid of the cat immediately, but Phil’s tears were hardly something that he was able to stand. He sighed and led Phil over to the couch, wrapping his arms around him tightly. It was time to give a mini lecture.
“Phil, we would be in big trouble if our landlord found out we were smuggling a pet in here. There’s also the fact that you’re highly allergic to cats. You shouldn’t have hidden this from me, obviously I would have found out sooner or later. What do you take me for?”
“But she’s so cute Dan…”
Dan felt guilty, but he had to stay firm. “Well, she’s going to have to go.”
Phil bit his lip. “Can’t she stay for one more night?”
Why did Phil’s puppy dog face have to be so effective? Dan found it pretty much impossible not to relent. “Fine, but only since the shelter is probably closed on Sundays.”
“Okay,” Phil smiled victoriously. “Want to come meet her?”
Dan allowed himself to be dragged into Phil’s room, groaning when he saw the floor was littered with towels and empty cans of tuna. A cute fluffy white kitten was curled up on the end of Phil’s bed. Phil laid down next to the creature, nuzzling his face into the snow colored fur.
“Phil,” The brown haired boy pinched the bridge of his nose, sighing when he heard Phil’s breathing turn to small wheezes. “You can’t inhale the cat if you want to be able to breathe.”
“Who cares about breathing?” Phil asked whimsically. “She’s so sweet and magical. And she smells like fresh powder.”
The other youtuber could only let this go on for a few more minutes before he forcefully dragged Phil from the room. Honestly, for a man in his mid twenties, Phil acted more like a five year old. Although Dan had to admit, the kitten was quite cute. It was remarkable that Phil had managed to keep it hidden for over a day.
The next day, ‘Snowball’, as Phil had started to call the kitten, was taken to the shelter. Phil moped for a few hours, but it was nothing that cuddles couldn’t fix.
“I love you Phil. Your health is much more important than a cat….and so is our apartment lease”
