Hi I’m ‘██████’ but you can call me Mo or Bones (for now), if you want to know more about me you can read this post.
I’m on tumblr for art-related reasons and I primarily use my main blog to interact with or follow people. I keep my media-related (i.e. ‘fandom’) content and reblog-heavy interests to curated side-blogs.

As a note:
Some of the people I love most in this world are trans (both binary and non-binary.) I am not cisgendered, heterosexual, or allonormative. We love Queer people on this blog.
I have spent a lot of my life in close proximity to indigenous government and culture. We have a deep respect for the sovereign rights of indigenous people and their ways of knowing.
Some of the most beautiful and amazing people I know are from different cultures than me. I am grateful that they share their love of their culture with me and I will fight to keep myself safe for them so that I do not betray their trust. We block racist and xenophobes on this blog.
I am chronically ill and have many family members who are also chronically ill. I am passionate about accessibility and willing to call out ableism in myself and others. This goes for neurodivergence as well, which I will only approach from a nuanced perspective due to a concentrated family history of █████.
I’m a research scientist by trade and am writing my thesis in molecular-systems biology while I work part-time at my district library. I love bringing knowledge to people and don’t believe that stupid questions exist (as long as they aren’t asked in bad faith.)
I like art, videogames, ttrpg stuff (pathfinder mostly), and horror genre type stuff in terms of my media-centric interests. Otherwise I tend to lean heavily in the direction of just liking the natural world.
I have an eyeless cat who I love very much (but I post about her on a different blog.)
I change my url a lot (I like to try things on.)

hi gene related question: i just learned that mitochondria are maternally inherited, so how do they maintain genetic diversity?
I'm obligated to say this because it was branded onto my left ass cheek after graduation: mutation is the mechanism of evolution. The rate of mutation occurs as a function of many things but the size of the creatures genome is one of them (fr there's some whacky math stuff about genetics that make people like me who chose to specialize in mathematical biology salivate uncontrollably.)
Also your mom has a mom, your dad has a mom, both of who dad-mom meiosis determined genes in the same way you have dad-mom meiosis determined genes. Sometimes these genes pull a mutation wild-card which either a) does nothing significant to structure or function of the mitochondria b) does something but not enough to produce an effect c) does something and causes a disease d) does something that causes the organism to fail-to-thrive (become biologically unable to survive.)
In case you're like me and very curious about these sorts of thing here's a link to a page that discusses conditions involving mitochondrial diseases.
btw this is a really good question and the sort of thing I'd put on an exam. I know nothing about you but if you're taking courses you can ask this in lecture and it'll produce an effect (positive.)

Something I don’t hear a lot of people talking about in chronic-pain/illness circles is how afraid it makes you.
Like before ‘it’ happened I used to be so courageous and indignant. I wore my beliefs honestly and held them with me publicly. I could be perceived without evaporating or disintegrating under the expectation to be a person. I understand that it’s extremely normal to lose confidence when your body literally loses its integrity, but I’m still pretty upset at just how much was taken from me with no one to blame. Every time I get a piece of myself back during recovery exists in tandem with delayed grief of realizing that I lost it in the first place…it’s really emotionally complicated.
— but hey, I think I’m starting to recovery my sense of courage — which means I’ll finally be able to make some good art!
