Canadian Pride, Harmony in Cultures" This mural depicts a mosaic of fabrics from around the world in reverence to the flow of cultures in Canada and our common values of peace and freedom. The water "Coast to Coast" represent Mother Nature and how grateful we are for the natural resources, pristine air and peaceful environment Canada offer to us every day. The big piece at the right of the whale big circle represents Aboriginal Canadian Cultures and their relationship with Mother Nature. It is divided in three aboriginal or aboriginal inspired images that represent from left to right: the aboriginal cultures from the Pacific coast, the aboriginal cultures from the Arctic and all aboriginal cultures from central Canada to the Atlantic Coast including Algonquin Culture. Metis and French-Canadian cultures are represented with their sash in the piece at the upper right corner of the mural. This mural was inspired by our diversity and created by more than forty volunteers from all over the world that believe in inclusion and co-creation. We worked together for more that four months and learned that our many differences made us a powerful and rich community. Ottawa 2017 “Canadian Pride, Harmony in Cultures” Mural is one AOE Arts Council’s twelve Neighbourhood Arts 150 projects held across the Ottawa region in 2017. As an official Canada 150 and Ontario 150 initiative, Neighbourhood Arts 150 was supported by the Government of Canada and Ontario 150 and realized in collaboration with over 50 community partners.
