#worldlionday2016 #worldlionday I shot this Lion at the Omu resort 4 days ago , didn't even know his name but I felt sad knowing he gets to eat 3 times a week making him look so malnourished and skinny despite looking fierceful from distance. They fed him in our presence just to give us something to talk about when going home and with just one bite the goat surrendered hithert God knows why he was looking at me like that!

We've seen their glories and their losses. We've also seen their numbers decline rapidly. We've lost 90% of lions in the last 75 years. Today only about 20 000 remain across Africa. Through the Big Cats Initiative we are funding big cat conservation projects around the world and have seen some great ideas and advances in saving these iconic animals. There is still a very long way to go but we will keep on going because we cannot lose the great roar of a lion reverberating across the African savannah.
