steve and eddie keep the most random stuff in their home

'back to the future' is the movie they watched right before their first kiss. (exact same tape too)
the sunglasses are the ones steve wore in '84, and eddie loves to wear them, or make steve put them on (so he can laugh at him, obviously)
and when someone asks 'why is there a bag of sand right there?', they have the best story in the history of the world.
