Wombo - Slab
Wombo Art AI: Dark Fantasy Norse Gods Edition
I acquired the album 'Fairy Rust' on the fact that this song grabbed me and kept my attention from beginning to end. It's a tight, tight 2 minutes and 22 seconds of solid post-punk rockin'. I dig Sydney Chadwick's bass here and that guitar starts running around chaotically at the 1:35 mark. *Chef's kiss* It works for me. From a review I read: "Backflip" has a wiry and jagged Gang of Four feel powered by Chadwick’s popping and slinky bass, punctuated by Taylor's sharp repeated fills. The punk edginess is ramped up with a tension that just finds a way to work and keeps everything tilted around the recessed psychedelic feel of the vocals. "
